Some staff were not great. Very aggressive and made you feel as though you were an annoyance, I would have rated it worse but when we were leaving another staff came out to help us (codi?) and he was so nice. He offered to help us in seeing that we were struggling and offered more help if we needed it. We left feeling better about the experience due to this one person. Fortunately, drop off was with the same person. He engaged in small talk and was friendly. It 100% changed our experience from a very, very negative one to a positive one.Lillian C.

The manager of this place, Glen, is extremely rude, condescending and unable to own his own mistakes. I arrived at 9:10am for a 9am pick up, and saw no staff in the store but 4 people waiting. I asked them if there are no staff, or what was up and was told that they have been waiting like that for a while. 10 mins goes by and 2 staff members finally appear at the same time. I wait my turn, and while waiting I decide to do the online check-in to make it all faster when getting to the counter. When it was my turn, I was served by Glen. He made a comment that I don't remember but I returned it with a complaint about the wait time with no staff. He didn't like that and proceeded to make me do everything to do with a standard check-in that I just did online, all over again with a condescending tone every time he spoke. I admittedly gave him back a frustrated, annoyed attitude in return. Not yelling, not swearing, not even speaking loud. Just a noticeable enough stank on my tone to let you know I was not happy. He gave me the keys finally and I leave, after saying he was giving me a vehicle with 3/8s of a tank of gas and saying I will have to fill up before my trip so I don't have to stop on the way. I have always rented from U-Haul in Oshawa and it comes with over a half tank minimum every time, so already late, and now I have to stop for gas. Yeah me! I go to find my rental van, it is boxed in. I have to go back in the office and ask for it vans it be moved so I can get mine. I get in the Van, see the tank is full. Call the manager over and show him. I am honest that way. He says he will update the account. Still all rude, but Ok great. I can leave finally. 40 mins after my arrival time. I drive away and go to my first stop and actually I look at my contract. It is for an entirely different van and one with only 400km. The one I was actually given has 27,000 km!!!!!! That is a huge difference at $.69/km. So I drive all the way back to the store to clear it up. Another 30 minute drive back to the store. I arrive, Glen sees me and asks â€œwhat's wrong?â€ But the attitude was more like â€œWhat now?â€ I said â€œYou gave me the wrong paper work.â€ He said, â€œI know I fixed it in the computerâ€ I said, â€œit is not just the gas, but for the wrong van completely.â€ He said again â€œI know! I just told you I changed in the computer.â€ I said â€œso what about the KM difference? I have a contract that says outgoing KM of 400, not 27,000 like I got.â€ He says â€œWhat do you want then?â€ I said â€œI want a proper contract that doesn't have me on the hook for almost $20,000 in fees.â€ He says â€œYou want me to actually print you a new contract?â€ Like he was shocked I would want to protect my butt with that much money on the line. So I said yes and he printed it off. I then asked about the mileage I spent coming back to the store. It is about 25km. Or just under $20.00. I'm not paying a store extra money for their mistake. He starts saying at this point that my naturally frustrated attitude is â€œfull of hateâ€ to which I said â€œHate is a strong word. It is not hate. It is frustration, anger, annoyance, but not hateâ€ He kept going on and on about my attitude. In such a condescending tone he would say things like â€œSo sorry that you are having such a bad day and that I am apparently the cause of it.â€ And starts asking me what I want at this point. I said â€œhow about taking off the km I spend to get here. Take the number off the van now while parked in the lot and use those as the KM out reading.â€ After some back and forth, he agrees. While walking to get the new reading, he goes on about my attitude again & I finally say â€œYour attitude is pretty condescending tooâ€ to which he says â€œI give what I getâ€ and I then said â€œBut you were the one who screwed up, not meâ€ Which he really didn't like. From there is was rushing me to get me out of there, which was fine because I was already so late by this time. Staff when I returned the van were much easier to deal with. Place is so busy, manager doesn't care about customer service because there will always be a customer.Danielle W.

The advertised $19.95 on your pickup trucks is misleading. I was not told how the options of payment level worked, so assumed the truck is just the advertised $19.95. I was asked questions, paid and given the key. The employee was very efficient and courteous. When I received my final emailed invoice I could not make sense of it, being charged a base rental charge of $109. I drove back into UHaul to have this explained to me in person. The employee was very good, but could not make sense of the invoice. After much work, he/we determined the amount was correct, however the invoice was showing USMiles, and he had never run across this. Long story short, ASK your questions, get the full understanding of what your options are, don't just assume because a vehicle has $19.95/daily on it, that that's what you pay.Lori S.

I rented a storage trailer. I thought my stuff would be okay but I should have known it wasn’t going to go well. When i got the trailer, it smelled pretty bad and it looked like stuff was spilled. I let the person know and I left it open for a few hours to air out before I put my stuff in. I visited once in a while during the 2 years I had stuff stored. When i moved out, the stuff at the back had mould. my box spring, my 6 foot shelf and a really expensive white lacquer tv stand was stained yellow. couldn’t clean the yellowish brown tint. had to throw away my box spring and shelving unit. can’t believe I spent all that money when I could have just left my stuff in on the yard and used that money to buy new furniture. I took photos but I’m pretty sure uhaul isn’t going to do anything.hector s. | Overall Experience
We chose this location for it's easy access to Trent University and the rest of Peterborough, and it's excellent reviews. They definitely lived up to (and exceeded) the reputation! What was meant to be a short summer 'stay' between university years ended up a year and a half due to COVD. The security, well maintained facility, and reasonable price gave us confidence- we had one less thing to worry about during a stressful time! The people prior to us did not sweep out the utility trailer before us, but the Uhaul staff were very good and did not blame/charge us for the mess. We only transported boxes. When I called and spoke to Glen, he didn't advise that the available locker had to be accessed via stairs. We brought a trailer full of items, I went inside and paid and when Cody showed me how to access the locker, he mentioned the stairs. We needed the storage for heavy items so I cancelled the transaction. Cody was very apologetic and kind. Your online check in doesn't make any difference or slows things up as everyone still has to wait in a lengthy lineup to check in and then we go through all the same stuff with the counter person so why botherMark M.
2 really basic things. 1. Don't swear and yell at customers (not at me, but the bloke next to me in line), he was upset he was getting overcharged, and got upset. But instead of the manager de escalating and finding out what was wrong, he iust yelled and swore at the guy. F words going back and forth. Made the pick up really uncomfortable. AND I FOUND OUT FROM ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER THE CUSTOMER WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG! He WAS getting overcharged. 2. MAINTAIN THE EQUIPMENT. We left with the trailer, and by the time we got it full a few hours later, we noticed one of the tires was low. So, we drove to the nearest service station with an air pump and found that although the sidewall said MAX 32PSI the low one was down below 5PSI and the orlthers.... WERE 80-100 PSI!!!!! THEY COULD HAVE BLOWN!!! We tried calling a bunch of numbers to tell u-haul, (including head office, the depot we rented from, the insurance company listed on the contract AND the roadside assistance line) but NO ONE EVER ANSWERED! We left a message on one line, but we have yet to hear back from anyone.Matthew B.

Our pick up location was switched a few days before pick-up to a convenience store. But when we attended there at our 9am time, it wasn't open. We waited 15 minutes, still not open though the van was there waiting. So we then went to the main Uhaul depot down the road (where we had booked to pick-up before it got switched). They were able to help us quickly and efficiently which we appreciated.Julie S.
The best part about our experience was that the truck we ended up with, didn't break down and we got our move done. Now for the rest, we arrived at 9:30 am when we had booked our truck only to be told that our truck wouldn't be available until 4:30pm. We explained we had a reservation and an email confirming this and eventually the rep offered us a smaller or larger truck. Since we didn't feel comfortable with a 26 foot truck we ended up with a 15 foot truck. Which ended up being too small and we then had to make multiple trips, making the move longer and more costly (more km). The truck we got was dirty in the back and smelled like urine. The front cab stunk of cigarette smoke. We had to clean the back before we could use it. We were told when we picked up we could just drop the keys off after hours, but the website wasn't working. We tried from more than one divice. We noticed if we didn't do the online return there would be an additional fee, which I'm glad we read about because no one told us that. When I came back in the morning to do the return, I expressed my concerns to Jenna who walk away as I was talking to her shrugged her shoulders and said â€œit's the end of the month, that's what happensâ€. I did get customer services number but she really had nothing to say other than â€œmoving is stressfulâ€ in reality when you pay for a service and you get it's a stressful time, the service your paying for should do their part by maintaining the vehicles and giving you what you have arranged. Instead we got a last minute switch and ended up paying more. Best part about this was that the truck worked. This uhaul experience was terrible.Dana A.

I had some issues with the latch on the trailer door. The spring tension on the door was a bit strong so you had to hold the door down to latch it and if you let the door open with the latch not locked open, it would jam between the roof and door.Rishi P.

Im a repeat customer at this location for a reasonâ€” in general, it just works, and is totally affordable. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Equipment always works how it should. I'm also lucky that this location is a 3-minute drive from my house! If there's a weak link it's the online checkout, which worked until I needed to read the legal stuff, then stalled. I understand that web UX is not a cheap or easy component of a business, and this doesn't affect my decision to keep using UHaul.Marcus E.

It smelled bad in our unit. Our belongings are ruined by the smell. Our ceiling height was horrible. You guys are crazy with what you charge for your units. We now have one that’s 650 sq ft for 280$ 100 more than we paid you guys. The worst thing for me is the outrageous fees. I always paid my bill here and there a bit late but the fees were ridiculous. The pre sign up on the web site is a waste of time. They had to redo the whole thing. And forgot to include the storage locker. Had to go back and butt in line and redo that portion as well. People in line already frustrated as it took quite a long time to process one person. When you're in a hurry and only have the truck for 4 hours and you waste an hour signing in its annoying. Had to ask someone for a shovel at loading bay. Was standing in a bunch of snow from the storm. When I returned the lady shovelled the spot for me. I would say they need a designated check in person who is fast on computer and not answering phones , getting workers organized, doing 11 other things.
