I originally scheduled a uhaul for another location at 131st and broaway and my truck was given away after I reserved it for 8 hours. Absolutely unacceptable and cost me about $80 more than it should have. Riverdale however was excellent.

When I reserved the truck, they said I would pick it up there. However, I was rerouted to another location. It was 25 mins away. When we got there, he didn’t have the truck. We had to travel another 5 minutes to a backwoods shop to pick it up. The truck I reserved wasn’t there so we had to take another one. After the move, I returned the truck and they tried to charge us another 7 miles of travel...AFTER I was told we had unlimited mileage. Next time, I’ll choose Penske.

I completed a reservation online through the website. The optional supplies (hand truck, dolly, and furniture pads) that I ordered were not provided. I returned the vehicle 30 minutes before it was due. I was billed for an additional day because the vehicle was officially checked in an hour and ten minutes after I returned it. I was also billed for the supplies even after I was told it would be removed from my bill. The most disturbing and aggravating part of this rental experience is that I was charged for damages to the vehicle that I did not do. Upon returning the vehicle, the UHAUL employee did not inspect my rental for damages in my presence. How can I be charged for damages that I did not do, or even assessed while I was still at the facility?

I was very happy with the U-Box service and would recommend it to anyone. The employees at the Riverdale location in the Bronx were extremely helpful and courteous. The arrival of my U-Box container was delayed by one day. That didn't bother me in the least. However, U-Haul called me about the delay and to ask if the U-Box could be delivered to a different location. It was left to me to contact the moving company that was delivering my U-Box and reschedule with them. Since I booked the moving company through U-Haul, I would have appreciated U-Haul contacted the moving company directly to reschedule.

A faster check in experience. I waited over 20 minutes to get checked in and the van assigned to me didn't have keys. So i had to wait for another van which only had 1/4 tank of gas.

Parking was totally unclear. Trucks were left all around the lot and individuals driving by themselves who don't have help backing up would have found it impossible to park. Additionally, I was rerouted to this location and because of the parkway restrictions, it was very confusing finding a route. UHaul should have GPS options for NYC

I was told gas tank was at 3/4. It was not. I took a picture before I started. I put $10.00 of gas in it. When I brought it back it had exactyly 3/4 tank. I told an employee. When I paid my bill the employee who signed me in was not there and the employee who processed my payment said nothing when I told him. I would not recommend this location! A RIP OFF!!!

Unrelated to 230th street: My booking was for a return to the location on West 23rd Street, who turned me away because it was full. They referred me up to 230th street, which took an extra two hours of my time getting there and back. The people at 230 were helpful, but I'm severely disappointed in uhaul overall. If the place was overbooked, why did it let me select it for return? Why didn't anyone tell me it was full? It's clearly your mistake, as the service providers, and it's unfair to make paying customers shoulder the burden of dealing with your logistical errors. Do better. I will not be using your services again.

Make sure the Equipment that someone has reserved is working properly and that it has a license plate. The lightning was not working properly and it did not have a license plate but was given the auto carrier anyway. It resulted in being a break down. When the service provider arrived he did all he could to repair a broken auto transporter that had several electrical issues which he couldn't do. When i asked for a replacement auto transport i was given the run arounds the manager was made aware of the situation and had his service rep suggest that because they refuse to let the service provider take the auto transport to their repair shop. I was told that i need to take it to their shop to be repaired and that the would fax me a paper plate for me to put on the auto transporter. I paid for a working unit and i received a unit with no license plate and electrical issues with lights. After a very heated argument over the phone an me requesting for a replacement and i strongly suggested. I paid for good service and i received poor service. Then after 30 minutes i receive a call back from the service rep saying that uhaul was finally giving me a replacement after all the back and fourth bickering and arguing. This location in opinion failed because it was supposedly been inspected and clearly released knowingly that it was not road worthy or safe. This waa a one way going to South Carolina. No only did the location fail but so did you emergency roadside assistance because of the way they handles the situation. Not the rep she was only relaying the message to me from manager. Who never called me himself, but found/made time to call the service provider an blame them for my actions for arguing to get a replacement. Which i did get. No customer should have to through being told to take a unit to the service shop for repairs or we not giving you a replacement.

NYC is huge. Try to give a guarantee where a truck will be on the rental day. Nerveracking, with expensive movers waiting, not to know until the day before where to pick up the truck. I was lucky. Luis did a good job.

This drop-off location was excellent BUT It was not the drop off location that we had picked (and confirmed by phone). When we arrived at the drop off location that we chose we were told that there was no space for the truck so we had to drive 30 minutes away to return the truck.

Couldn’t order online. Had to call which got rerouted to main number. Ordered 4 dollies. None available when I went to pick. Was not told it was 1st come, 1st served. Had to speak to manager. He gave me a discount but when I returned the truck the rep wanted to charge me extra for mileage and she couldn’t find discount notes. Overall a bad experience.

Uhaul needs better organization and customer skills. I placed a reservation for a location in Manhattan and a small truck. I however, received a bigger truck and also, a further location outside my borough. I called several times and give different numbers each time to speak to someone. It was not only frustrating it was also unresponsible that as a company they don’t inform their customers ahead of time to honor their reservations.

This has been my worst experience ever... with any business! The wait time was ridiculously long, employees took picture of my driver license with their personal cell phones, and the vehicle was beyond filthy, stinky, and poorly maintained. It shook violently when speed was above 30 mph and the “change engine oil” warning was constant! To boot I was overcharged for mileage due to the reset that was done when I returned it. Disgusting and unprofessional! I just pray I didn’t pick up bed bugs!!!! Never again -Penske has just gained a new customer!

Please hire more people to handle the front desk. Long lines and one person covering. There was no one at the truck pickup site either and they were pretty shoddy when they were. Normally this site is great. Even your employee at the front desk was getting exasperated with the lack of response from the rest of the employees. I am giving this place one more chance then back to Ryder for me.

I run a small business, and I rent uhaul trucks through my corporate account every week I had a very poor experience with my staff earlier today. there was reportedly a hold on the account and my staff was not allowed to pick up the scheduled trailer. And then after further research there apparently wasn’t supposed to be a hold but there was some other confusing issue going on. It took about 30 minutes to ultimately get some clarity which resulted in my staff starting the job late. Very disappointing.

I reserved a hand truck and when I get there I'm told that there was no more. When I asked what was the purpose of me reserving it the employee (jasmine) tells me with attitude that it is first come first serve and I could buy a dolly for $20. Did not like the customer service at this location at all.

Didn't appreciate being nickeled and dimed for every charge. Couldn't rent a one way truck, was not told that a rental charge would be another $75. All told this was almost $150 more than I planned on, and this is in addition to having my original rental location changed to the other side of Yonkers without bothering to ask me if I could get there -- I couldn't.

They could tell them about the new clothes-hanging bar that you sell. (Although I suggest you simply rent these bars, as customers will have no other uses for them.) Be certain to remind customers the prohibition of driving on Parkways with trailer in NYS. The staff carefully warned me that the rear door, garage style, can get caught if you don't secure the latch when allowing it to raise. (I prefer the house double-door style.)

My experience with U Haul at this location was very professional and enjoyable. the van that was given was brand new and it drove very well.However my experience with receiving my funds back not so great, first because of the usage of Debit instead of Credit I was charge a higher fee(understandable) but when it came to returning my funds it now became a 4 to 5 day policy when this is not what I believe was taught to your customer service, it was explained to me it would be returned the next day it was only after I returned back the next day and spoke with the same sales person who was very professional that we discovered it not to be true. working people like my self depend on accuracy especially when it comes to our money,in this economy we are living pay check to pay check and every dine is accounted for, so if this is not a true policy of one day returns please let the customer be aware so they can make the choice thank-you Lydia Young

The service when reporting an accident was dreadful. They consistently lied. After various "holds" lasting @ 40 minutes, I was told the two would be there "within an hour" at 7:30 PM. After a call starting at @8:45 I was told the tow truck would be there "in LITERALLY 7 minutes" (by now it was 9:15) and the agent would call "no later" than 9:25. At 9:40 I was told "he'll be there in 8 minutes". Their excuse was that the tow was "at the other end of McLean Av.". THERE IS NO OTHER END of McLean. I then told them I would abandon the van at 10:00. I received a call (from the tow operator) at 10:00 stating he would be there in about 20 minutes. Because of this call I did not abandon the van. When the tow came (@ 10:20) I aske and he told me they DID NOT GET A CALL UNTIL @ 9:20 and they told you it would take @ one hour.

4 or 5 yrs ago I meet the young girl that was there this Sunday morning on 4/14/19 around 8am. She is awesome, Very nice and professional. I was very happy to see that she was still working at this Location. I'm always coming to this location anytime I'm moving or in need Boxes. Good job keep it up

They charged me for the damages on the truck that happened before me. Good thing I recorded the video upon receiving the truck. And annotating all the damages. After reviewing the video they gave my money back. So when you rent the truck take pictures, videos before and after. Because they will try to scam you.

Is a great location. Service is below average , nice young people running the place , they have a good intention but still young and junior , poor logistics and for a large operation like that the management lacks of professionalism. When recibe the truck the logistics team nice your guy people but lacks of training and costumer service , poor standards ..more concern about telling you about the insurance and the potencial damage of the vehicles , was told by the valet division that make sure you take if posible 100 pictures if for some reason you do something to the vehicle ..I reply this is a rental vehicle for transport and is about 5 years old and used , is not a Lamborghini that you guys are renting ..... They insist that you need to purchase insurance when your credit card covers insirance plus is a rental company they most have insurance ...once again they are in the rental busosnes for comercial use ..not in a busiines of renting a Rolls-Royce or a Bentley or luxury vehicles . Poor operation busisones for a huge location .. When you drop the vehicle after hours the place has no one to check the location . The lot is open and anybody can come in and attack you or break in your vehicle . Once again is not about the people working on the front desk they do what they just can do , is the my nation man that is very poor . Also very overpriced ....they over charge you because is supposed to be a premium location ..can you believe that ?? This is the Riverdale Locatoon I’m referíng to .. pay for a small vehicle for a day 547.00 dollars almost six hundred dollars ...for only one day ... they charge me 1.75 cent a mile went to cunnecticut to drop a gym bicycle for a donation for a charity . Few weeks I rented a similar vehicle from another location in the Bronx and I paid for the same rental same vehicle including equipment 325 dollars ...paid about 1.15 a mile and at this location they charged me 1.75 a mile when I asked why you are charging me almost 200 dollars more for the same rental that in another location near by I paid much less ...their response was ../we charge more because this a is a better location ... I couldn’t believed that said something like that... They charged me 200 dollars more for one day for the same vehicle and the same mileage ..::they charged me 19.99 for the day and 520 dollars for the mileage ...and plus the insurance ....the location is great ...but they overcharge you . That take advantage of their clients ... I would not suggest you to use this location ..simply because you will be overpaying ... Taking this item for a charity cause to Connecticut from New York cost me 554 .00 for the smal U-Haul truck plus gasoline 75.00 dollars , would be a lot cheaper having Fedex to deliver the item .. Is not cost efficient......I think I’m this specific location they take advantage of their clients .... I was already at the location and my time was limited that’s why I I ended up renting the vehicle here bu

Worst experience I set up everything online , but every time had trouble logging in with username and password . Each time showing error , frustrated by it called customer service , not helpful at all , hung up the phone on me . Finally had to go to office at 230W Bronx after wasting 1 hr . Complained to general manager Hernandez , haven’t heard anything back from him .

Don't know what the purpose of using the express check in on the Internet when I got to the location and a had a give them everything all over again Accidentally took my expired drives lunches with me I had my wife take a picture of my laces and send it through text they would accept that I had an idea they wouldn't accept that so I had to get someone to come down with the license there was a nightmare Just remount a trailer

The only complaint was that there was only one person working at the counter on the last day of the month at 8:30AM so the wait time was long and only getting longer when I left. Also, I ordered a furniture dolly and there wasn't one available. Other than that I had a great experience. The truck was very clean and no issues. Other than the wait, the pick-up process was easy. I hired help through the uhaul site to load and unload the truck and that was also a very easy and efficient process.

And yet they charged me same amount intead of charching it to the other lady that was late. You should have been fare if i wated for you.

Trucks were managed and organized very well. It was easy to identify where all of the trucks were on the lot, though the originally assigned bumper number via mobile checkin was not present or was hidden between rows of trucks. The dispatcher was easy to identify and offered assistance immediately. He showed me how to change bumper numbers on the website. It is difficult to change the bumper number on the website though, so a possible improvement might include the ability for customers to type an available bumper number for the type of equipment reserved. As mentioned, however it was not a problem as the staff quickly identified a new truck, and with excellent communication between the dispatcher and supply store representative, the process was very accomodating and fluid. Dents and markings on the exterior of the truck were already identified and marked with an X, and it did not impact the move.

The staff were friendly but the mobile check in process was sloppy. Mobile check in was a joke considering there were hundreds of trucks at the Bronx location and no easy way to find it. Also frustrating that the truck was only 1/4 full of gas, though it was a new truck.

My experience here was great, Jalen Colter at the front desk was beyond professional, took the time to make sure I properly understood the contract, and Norbert Spanner in the yard was spectacular. I waited for service for at least 10 minutes because only one representative was servicing customers, even though there were others workers walking around, and that worker was servicing another customer. When I was serviced I learned that my rental would be hundreds of dollars more than I expected because the worker who made my reservation DID NOT EVER explain that the rate advertised only applied if the mileage was under one day. I was completely blindsided and became VERY angry and annoyed by this misrepresentation. The representative at the Riverdale facility who serviced my was also very blase and appeared very disconnected and "bored." He was not rude, but his attitude gave the impression that he could not care less about me, the transaction, or the fact that he has a job that involves working with customers AND providing customer service. Because of this experience, I will never use this location again if I need to rent from U-Haul.

Also, the young man that accepted my truck return was fantastic! We didn’t get his name however he was Latino with glasses with curly hair. His shift ended at 8pm at closing. This customer service team is fantastic.
