Great experience!! I rented a U-Haul from San Clemente Pico U-Haul, an needed a place to leave my rental for three nights, they allowed me to leave my rental at the Concord location while I visited my daughter in San Francisco, concord went out of their way to help me. I am so very appreciative of the Concord staff, they made my day.

Pickup location was changed less than 24 hrs before scheduled. New location was much further away which impacted the loading.
Drop off location was randomly changed as well to a further location, in a very sketchy area. AND this location was CLOSED when we arrived. The location I wanted was not only much closer for us but allowed for unattended drop off. I was able to make the change AFTER driving to the other closed location.
These major inconveniences really impacted our move.

Service was excellent. The only problem was misunderstanding the U-Haul app where I thought the app said I had to return the motorcycle trailer in 6 hours. Actually, I paid for 24hours. If I had made the reservation over the phone the representative probably would have cleared this up. As a result, I returned the trailer and rented it again the next day when I could have kept it for two days. Just a minor inconvenience and paying the insurance twice.

Tell customers to watch out for the round hitch ball on the back of the truck. I am slow learner sometimes so I bashed by mid femur three times- it bled and now sports a bruise. After the third time it happened, I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around the ball. Didn't smack it again...

I recently checked in at the counter and there was a substantial wait. I appreciate the personal touch and engagement with a person. Because if the long wait, I figured I would do the online. Not very fast at all. Pretty disappointed. I still needed the truck. But I would hope you could work to expedite the processing of the online requests. Also, directions were not clear on where to pick up the keys for the vehicle.

My storage lease was closed due to several issues with this facility and staff. Numerous times over the last few years I brought it to the attention of the facility personnel that there were homeless individuals actually living in the units. Each time I was told ‘We will look into it’, but nothing was ever done. The situation got so bad that my wife stopped going there alone because of the individuals inside the building. On top of that, there was constantly garbage and unwanted items being left behind inside and outside the building. I inquired several times about it and nothing was ever done. To this day there is a discarded bbq sitting outside the building that’s been there for over 2 months. This facility is poorly managed and I will not be recommending this storage facility to anyone.

I rented a trailer to pull my car behind a U-Haul for a cross-country move. Booking was easy, as I booked far in advance using the app. When I arrived with my packed truck, the service person attached the trailer and left - it was dark out, and I had to track him down to ask for further help. I wasn't aware that they do not give instructions on how to attach the vehicle, which involves tying the straps, affixing chains on the axles - and other safety precautions. This required that I get under the vehicle in the dark and figure out the strapping contraption.
A disclaimer or notice ahead of time would have been helpful. The service person mentioned that "there is a policy and I could pay an extra fee for help - I was already under my car and by this point, I felt for safety reasons I needed to figure it out. The service person answered my questions - but was hesitant and didn't want to get into trouble - very odd.
I would advise U-Haul to simply make it clear when renting a car trailer that the driver has to fully attach the vehicle. Providing a video or manual ahead of time would be very helpful and much safer.

This Uhaul store was by far the best I have ever rented from. Super courteous staff, helpful and polite. They helped me solve the issue with my trailer hook up, traced the blown fuse and replaced it for me and sent me on my way with a safe functioning trailer. I couldn’t be more grateful.

The check in process duplicates a lot of what I already filled out online (which is laborious in the first place!). Asking me if I am interested in 7-9 additional items or services on 7-9 different web pages is irritating and obnoxious! Your dealers feel the same when asked. Suggestion, put them all on one page and let us pick one if needed or decline all would serve both parties better and not make your customers irritated with U-Haul. Also, I have used U-Haul on many occasions and have to give my license and fill out the info every time. More irritation. The people at San Clemente were great.

I rented my 5 x 10 unit for the advertised price of $189/mo. The price immediately went up $10/mo with no notification. The ads on all the signage continued to show the $189 price for several months. It was clearly bait and switch but it would have been too inconvenient and expensive to move so I paid and stopped complaining after a few times of pointing out the sign behind the pleasant cashier with the lower price still for my section. That slight dishonesty spoiled and otherwise pleasant experience.

i had my storage locker since 2018, and after a big rain, the ceiling fell onto my boxes. When I informed the front desk, no one offered to move me to a site that was not dirty. No discount was given to me for the hassle of having to clean off all my boxes several times.
The staff was nice, but I thought a 7 year customer who was never late on monthly payments deserved better treatment.

I didn't like that the office assistant tried to make me feel bad by telling me that she couldn't stand my presence near the computer and that she felt I was too close and in her face after I helped her find my name. Manager that runs the place is awesome. Very friendly and extends his staff & himself to meet the customer’s needs. Also the staff was very flexible when I had to request a later pymt date and still giving me access in spite of my pymt being late. Nice that they can be relatable and understanding of people going through hardships.

Jeanette at the front desk goes out of her way to be helpful, she is friendly, professional and knows her stuff! She made all the difference in not only storing at the facility but also helped me with my Ubox move as there were some problems (not created by the Pico facility) and she handled it quickly and thoughtfully. All the other staff that I spoke to were very friendly and helpful also.

One minor glitch is that I was in that air condition area of your facility and it really wasn’t very air-conditioned, it was 85 degrees on hot days but I realize electricity is precious.

Although the facility was well lit, secure, and the hours are great, the location of where I had my unit was near the lockers by the entrance. I'm not sure who is using the lockers, but every time I went in there, it smelled like pot. And most times I visited (which was every few days for a month) the leftovers of someone's belongings who had either been evicted or had dumped their stuff was left by the carts by the entrance. Also, in the entrance, there are leftover building supplies - not sure if they belong to the building or someone else, but it doesn't seem that it should be there. For the price I was paying for a small unit, I would have figured the experience would be better. I switched my storage to All American in Capistrano and it's MUCH cleaner, more pleasant, more professional, and over $50 less expensive.

The new metal added around the interior hallways no longer allow you to swing open the door to the unit all the way. This was very frustrating when moving out.
We had to move a few items out of the unit into the hallway, then close the units door, in order to carry the stuff out the front rollup door.
When we moved in the unit door swung all the way open which was great!

I was happy with my uhaul experience. I do recommend to make it clear to your customers who are moving and purchasing a storage unit to explain you have to return the uhaul keys by 10am or whatever time you have set up. I showed up at 10 and unloaded my things into my unit and it took about an hour and then I turned in the uhaul keys and was told I was being charged and the guy didn’t know why but basically said I have to pay it and took it from my card on file. Upon reviewing the receipt I was charged another day! I was on the property the whole time and no one warned me or said anything. I have called asking for a refund. That is deceiving.
