Demetria E | Overall ExperienceDespite completing my reservation online in advance, I was required to spend nearly an hour at the desk just to re-register upon arrival. This completely defeats the purpose of using your online system and caused unnecessary delays. Additionally, the tow trailer assigned to my rental was parked in such a way that it was inaccessible without moving several other trailers. The staff on-site decided to give me a different trailer and assured me that my account would be updated to reflect the change. However, five hours later, after following up via phone and online chat, the issue still had not been resolved.

Karen SWhile I am giving this location high marks, I am very displeased with the problems of self sign in. First it said my vehicle was first in line but there was no line so my rental was in a parking lot amongst many others. Next problem was taking pics of the vehicle. The app deleted my pics 3 times so finally an employee came and took them. Also the sun was shining so certain views of the truck had glare. Then trying to find the odometer was like the worst Easter egg hunt. Again the employee had to come and find it. It was a very trying experience and only salvaged by your employee who was patient, sympathetic and upbeat while also dealing with phone calls and other customers. I regret not getting his name because he deserves to be recognized. I have used U-Haul numerous times and expect better.
RAPHAEL L2:45 pm on Saturday April 12, I bring the truck back. I stop where the sign says to wait for someone to assist me with my return. A couple of employees are milling around ignoring me, so I turn to the app. I get out of the truck and photograph the exterior for the app. Then the app asks me to take a picture of where I parked the truck, which I haven't done because I thought I was supposed to stop and wait at the sign. So I pull the truck into an adjacent parking spot. As I'm taking the final photos to finish the return, one of the inattentive yahoos springs into action and asks me if I'm returning the truck. Um, yes, why else would I be there? He tells me I shouldn't have parked the truck there and I should leave it where I had it originally. Way to go, guys!

RUDOLPH VYour employees did an excellent job. They were very helpful. The problem I had was wasting 20 minutes on Thursday trying to get your app installed. Then Saturday morning spending another 40 minutes to get my van because of your app. Returning the rental I had trouble with the app as well. Your poor ratings were strictly based on your app. Your people were very helpful and apologetic.
harold jI made the initial reservation online at home. When I arrived at the U-Haul location to pick up the van, I was instructed to download the U-Haul App to process the rental. Apparently, if you don't have a smart phone with a data plan you cannot rent from U-Haul??? I had to take a picture of myself as well as the front and back of my drivers license. That was to be expected. My biggest issue is that I had was to wait in the lobby of the U-Haul for 22 minutes while I the App A.I. verified my Drivers license/Portrait. Make sure that your phones location is Enabled! Once the app verified my information a staff member provided the keys. After I have the keys I was delayed AGAIN. The app instructed my to take pictures of all 6 sides of the truck and dashboard. Finally, after 30 minutes I was allowed to leave. Looks like U-Haul has passed some of the labor onto the customer. U-Haul should inform customers during the checkout process to download the App prior to picking up the rental. I could have taken all the pictures and waited at home while the verification took place instead of the lobby. Customers need to schedule and extra 30 minutes to rent a vehicle. The van was new and clean. Only 2800 miles.

ACQUANETT H | Overall ExperienceLocation under-staffed. Reserved truck via UHaul app, filled all information in, and when it came time to pick up truck, nothing. Had to have the agent put all of the information I spent 15 minutes put back into the system. Truck was parked in such a way that i could not gain access on the drivers side so had to crawl into the truck from the passenger side. Upon drop-off, there were so many vehicles in the lanes, that I could not park without being in the traffic lane. When I mentioned this to the staff, they said they only had two staff working on a Saturday, and that they would get to it. As far as the clean equipment question - yes or no does not cut it. Windshield had more haze on it then Jimmy Hendricks.

VERE THonestly, that was the easy U-Haul experience I ever had. I assume he's the manager or franchisee, Master, made the truck upgrade easier than I could've possibly expected. Not certain I can go back to the stupid only phone pick-up locations.

The pictures taken for tge insoection never uploaded. I will not use ihaulagain if I can help it. HOWEVER the attendant employee was tremendous. He patiently got through the glitches and the system with a smile and much kindness. After 45 minutes we eventually got a truck. There needs to be a giant overhaul of this new electronic checkin. I am relatively adept virtually and it is extremely clunky.

Move away from the current system that requires the customer to download the U-haul phone apps and enter their details through the app. OR EVEN BETTER... Provide high-speed touch-screen terminals in store for customers to input their data for a U-haul rental.

Deidre S | Overall ExperienceI requested my pick up transaction to be at the counter however, when I arrived, I was forced to use the app. Once I downloaded U-Haul app it was time consuming, I had to re-enter all of my information, and the pictures of the odometer and gas meter were not accurate. This process that should’ve been quick and seamless but, took over an hour to pick up the vehicle. Also, I had a 15 foot truck reserved however when I called an hour and a half before my scheduled time I was told there were none available. Then I had to have multiple back-and-forth conversations in order to arrange for a 10 foot truck. Because this truck was smaller, it required two trips for my move. Therefore, more gas was used, more mileage used, and I had to pay the movers for additional time.

MICHAEL PI called the 1 800 # just to make sure my reservation was good to go. I reserved a 10’ truck and a trailer for my car. When I go to pick the truck and trailer, the system said that the trailer was not recommended for my Tesla Model Y. So now I have to make 2 14 hour trips to move.

Geovanny SOverall, the service was good and reasonably priced. The big problem is your confusing app and communications. Instructions weren't followed, and I was repeatedly called for all sorts of issues that should be done digitally these days. It really brought the overall satifaction down. When you say 'How was the location'? The location was fine. It's your app and the process that you need to work on.

Bank account balance with at least two different charges on Banking statements listings U - Haul as the company that overcharged!! Very disappointing incident after complaint to Supervisor about these charges applied to my bank statement !!! I Blame the Supervisor for not taking care of this issue properly. Attorney shall be responsible for this matter!!!!

nedetia c | Overall ExperienceWhen I arrived to move out, I Informed the front desk that I would be closing out my storage unit. The woman said I need to take a picture of my unit when it was empty. There are no dumpsters on site and I did not have a car with me so I called a junk removal place to help me remove my items. When the employees saw me putting my stuff outside, they called me to ask about it. I informed the lady on the phone I was putting my items outside so the junk removal place can pick everything up. She informed me of the fine if the items were not picked up and I assured the women at the front desk I would not leave them there. 15 minutes later Faye and another woman approached me about my items, I once again said I have a junk removal company coming to pick my items up at 2:20. They said if the junk removal company did not come by 2:30 they would charge me 400 fee. The customer service was terrible because Faye was not understanding nor did she ask me the reason for all of my items on the front. I confirmed 2 times with employees I would not leave my items and not have them picked up. This is a storage facility, things are left in the front as part of the transition of moving items from one place to another. When I first moved my items into this U-Haul, my husband and I unloaded all the items along the outside front wall with no issues or threats from the workers. My word as a customer held no value. I do not believe I was treated with respect or shown proper customer service. Not everyone who walks into this facility wants to damage, destroy or make the lives of the workers difficult. I worked alongside the employees and left my storage unit empty, clean and removed every item that was outside. There needs to be better customer service taught to employees about respect and giving customers grace who are in transition. It was like punishing me for not having a car or access to a dumpster site.

I down sized units which was equally easy. The staff was always able to assist me with payments by phone, which was my preference. I always felt safe enough to visit my storage alone, that’s huge. Thank you all at U-Haul for helping me to get through a rough transitional time. I will definitely recommend your services.

TIMOTHY BI told the attendant that Saturday that I needed to pick the truck up Sunday at 7 am, he said NO PROBLEM. There was a problem, the location did not open until 9 am. I was under a time restrain, as I had to make a pick-up in upstate New York. Two employees came about 7:45 am, but said they could not sign the truck out until 9 am. I asked why he could not call a supervisor an inform them of the situation, they said they couldn't. In this situation I was at the mercy (or lack there of) to keep the reservation. Believe me, if there was any other option, you would NOT have gotten my business. When i turned in the truck, I asked if I could receive any monetary compensation, of course the answer was NO. Thoroughly disappointed with my experience with your company.

ALI IThis facility is an absolute nightmare. From start to finish, the experience was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. The manager has a terrible attitude—impatient, dismissive, and completely lacking in professionalism. It's clear they don’t properly train their employees, as every month there was some new excuse for why I was hit with late fees. No one seemed to know the correct process to enable my card for automatic payments. When their shady practices were finally uncovered, there were no apologies, no accountability, and certainly no effort to make things right. To make matters worse, they give you access to your storage unit, but the access codes or key cards frequently don’t work. I paid over $100 to rent a truck for the day, only to be locked out of the storage unit I’d paid for on time. I made multiple attempts to resolve this, standing out in the cold, but customer service was no help at all. Not a single accommodation was made for my troubles and inconvenience. I couldn’t get my belongings out fast enough—I don’t trust this facility with anything, let alone important personal items. If you’re considering storing anything here, think twice. This place is poorly managed, and the people running it don’t seem to care about their customers or their belongings. Beware and avoid at all costs!

Thats the energy I get from staff. Nothing made me feel low knowing I’m spending my money and does not feel appreciated. A plethora of un-necessary extra hear all about it etcetera . I did not enter a rehab center. I did not enter a hospital for a neurosurgeon to fix my brain. I wanted to come in walked in and out as a decent human being. Regardless of my reason to rent with Uhual is my business, some of the staff need sensitivity training. Everyone stress level is different , I’m going through a transitional period , period. I didn’t walked in 225 for a psychological assessment. I’m glad I’m free from 225 abode. Thank you for such parasitic experience.

I paid a upfront service cost of 223 for the unit and on 1-31-24 my experience was horrible. My storage unit was canceled and showed I move out. I needed to regain access to my unit. I was in the middle of a property showing hoping to be in and out of my unit. However that didn't happen I had to renew my contract and making multiple attempt to gain entry access ...I'm very unhappy, however I received excellent service from the gentleman who engaged with helping me to resolve the issue. Not sure if I would recommend uhaul to anyone.

Finally, although I observed regular cleaning, I did noticed an undesired critter at least once each visit. On the other hand, hand-carts were mostly always available and the elevators are huge enough to transport 2-3 customers if needed.

I was on YouTube trying to find answers and the young lady was told she couldn't do it for me. I was literally on the ground underneath my suv trying to unhook chains. I am a 54 year old woman that should not have been the case. I was charged by the PA facility to put it on and you guys have the audacity to be trying to charge me more money ... for what? I put the gas on the truck and I did not go over the 166 miles I was promised. I actually was under 160 miles. It literally took me 2 hours before I even got my pass key to get in the storage untit. I was at your facility for 5 hours. I left your equipment and truck there in good condition an entire day early ... my experience as a valued customer was the worse ever ... I'm very disappointed and I don't owe you guys 1 more dime with the exception of my monthly storage payment. So please do not attempt to charge my card again. Have a blessed day

If I was told from the begining that no motorcycles were allowed I would have chose another location. The manager has 4 other bikes at this location being stored that I know of. This shows me his poor management skills and he is responsible for leaving customers greatly inconvienced. I will never use U- HAUL or ever refer U-HAUL to anyone as long as I live, especially that mis managed location.

Unfortunately, online reviews suggest that this was an experience shared by other customers.

I had a reservation and a set price at 89.99 plus tax and insurance. When I arrived (225 Long Ave), a sign on the door said that it was closed and to call a number. I called and they told me to go to another location (1000 Sherman). I did. When I got there, after waiting a while, the person told me that the location wasn't open at all and I could get a smaller unit with them for a lot more money ($125). I left and called Uhaul. The person on the phone was confused that the location was closed. She said it didn't make sense. Finally, she figured out that it was a new location and it wasn't yet open for business. For some reason, I was still able to make a reservation for it though for a date when it wasn't open. I ended up paying a lot more for a unit at a different place. So, it was a disaster. I really would expect to get the benefits of having a large chain, namely, that they would honor the price for when I booked. It seems like it's more a series of independent places that kind of work together, not at all as good. The person on the phone was helpful, and the place it's at is fine, but this was a mess so beware of this kind of thing with Uhaul.

The process was not clear on how to check in at the front door so that led to serious frustration while moving in. A text said I will have a lock ready in my unit and there was none there so I had to run around the facility to find an employee to fetch a lock (which was originally included in my rent). The only thing that made this facility worth it was the large elevator, and the 1 month free with a truck rental. Other than that I would not advise.

U-Haul just want to take your money for the month and rent the unit to another person (my impression). This is not the way to do business. . The staff understood my point and put the account back in the system since I would lose my money . I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone because this is not the first incident I have had. The Management team is rude and unprofessional from my pass incident when I had to call a locksmith and they locked my unit. The worst place to do business. This pandemic nobody has Money to just give away. Please train your staff to let the customer know up front all details before just trying to rush the customer off. U-Haul does not credit for days remaining on the account if that’s the policy let the customer know their opinions. Which is good customer service. This location is the worst

April T | Online Move InWhen i initially reserved a truck i specifically stated i needed a truck that i could drop at another location as opposed to returning it to where id pick it up. I was moving out of state so that made the most sense. I confirmed with the agent that i could drop the trick at another location in nj...perfect. Three days prior to my pick up date i received a call from uhaul confirming the reservation; however; i had to return the truck to ny! And instead of my flat rate id now be charged per mile!!! I explained to the agent that this was not was reserved and he said sorry cant help thats all we have blah blah. So instead of a rate of i think it was $139? I ended up with a $222 bill.,,almost $100 more!!! Completely unacceptable and the agent was not willing to work with me at all. When i returned the truck to the original location the agent there informed me if i got a bigger truck it would have been one way only...a15” as opposed to a 10”....this was never offered to me as an option when i was told ‘there’s no availability to drop off the truck at another location’....complete scam! Truly thought uhaul had a better reputation...lesson learnt....never again!

Upon arrival to the facility around 11pm, after a 4 hour drive from Maryland, we tried the access code, which failed with an error message "not checked in". We called Jonathan, who understandably didn't pick up at such hours, as well as the 1800 #. We spoke to two people- the personnel from corporate apologized for the misinformation and poor communication by the staff member at this location however she was unable to provide us access into the storage facility and she mentioned we were not authorized after hours access. This was puzzling as we were specifically told we would have after hours access BY THE PERSON WHO CALLED ME at 5:15pm. I did not seek this information, it was voluntarily handed to me. So instead of loading everything from the uhaul truck rental, to the storage unit, we had to drive to our parents home, in queens, NY, adding more miles to the truck rental, increasing cost of travel, and extending the amount of time this move was supposed to take, which is all unacceptable by such a reputable company during such difficult times. We will return tomorrow in order to move in on June 12, 2020. This doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of our experience thus far.
