The truck I used was a very high mileage vehicle and a gas gussier and the right door could not be unlocked from the outside because the lock had been popped by a thief who probably broke in the vehicle. I am a regular U-Haul renter. I noticed that a lot of vehicles at this location were old,is this how you treat location in low income communities. The contract confirmation email I received on 9/2 indicated my pickup location was supposed to be 964 S. La Brea, Inglewood CA. I was not informed of a location change until I arrived at the Inglewood store, and had to make an extra trip out to the Vermont location. I mean, it worked out, and the gentleman who helped get us set up was VERY professional, but it would have been better to know about that up front.Cindy D.

The customer representative that assisted me was awesome. She is definitely an asset to your company. She was courteous , knowledgeable and works very well Under pressure! I observed the interactions with other customers while waiting in line, who were not the nicest and some very pushy. Our customer representative was very patient to say the least! The passenger side door's lock was broken and came out when I tried unlocking it with the key.Barry F.
Even though the facility as a whole was well lit, the storage unit I received had no light inside. There was also a rat trap in the unit. The door hedge must have been loose as it took 2 people to lock the door as 1 person needed to hold the bottom of the door up and the other person then could latch the lock closed. Also, during my signing of the contract it was not stated that I would have to keep my property in the unit for a entire month otherwise I would not get any money back from the weeks I didn't use. I prepaid on August 16 and moved my property on August 27 which is not even 2 weeks time of using the unit. When I asked Uhaul customer service to have a file opened to explain to the manager Luis on 8/27, I never got a call from him. I called customer service back on 8/31 and they said in their notes the manager said he actually spoke to me. This is beyond ridiculous and extremely unprofessional. I will never use a Uhaul service as long as I live and at every opportunity I will continue to share how horrible my experience was with this particular facility. I paid my rental on or before the date due every month I rented and it's a shame Luis thinks good business is stealing from good customers.JAMILA M. | Overall Experience

Employee and Manager was there did horrible customer service to me upset jimmy he was nice but others was horrible. They did treat bad. Made me come over three times same place to get the truck I reserved. First they cancel my reservation and my truck to other person. Then he said other truck coming at noon . I ask for that one gave to someone else. Then later came back third time they lost the key of truck. I lost over 2 closed to 3 hours. I pay for uber for 4 times. They me other locations, they said my reservation was never complete it. I had movers waiting for me getting pay per hour. I lost so much money. When I picked up the truck the whole front end was crashed in and it was a complete mess. It was not clean. When I started driving it I realized the air-conditioning was blowing hot air and it was 105Â° where I was going. The truck ended up having to get a maintenance person out and they said the hose for the Freon was broken. I almost got heat stroke in the desert and I had to drop it off at a different location because I couldn't drive it home. They still charged me the full amount for the truck..Kristen S.

I requested a 15ft long and it was confirmed by customer services, and when I got there I got 10ft. Also the truck had not radio and driving 8hrs with out music is bad,also the truck didn't go over 75miles per hr.the truck was dirty.i call couple times to file a complaint.nobody was able to help me.overall was bad.Humberto M.
Luis Serrano, the general manager, was awful. He was dismissive with me, and rude. I explained how concerned I was for my trip across the country, and wasn't too excited about the oldest tow dolly he chose to provide. Originally, his staff had picked out a fairly new model of tow dolly that appeared in excellent shape. That's when Luis budded in, and insisted on another tow dolly that was parked at the very back of the lot, with several newer tow dollies in front of it. The staff had to move several tow dollies out of the way to get the old worn out model that Luis insisted I use. Then after showing me how to hook up the tow dolly, and instructing me to strap up the wheels of the car I was towing, Luis walked off into his office as I was only half done. His own staff (standing there) said to me with a sarcastic tone:" wow...that's some great customer service". I looked at him, and we both shared a look of concern. He explained that he had only been on the job for 2 weeks, and didn't really know what he was doing, and also that LUIS had been that way with other clients/customers too. I went into the office, under a lot of stress with my wife and two toddler boys in the parking lot waiting, and asked him to finish helping me with the hook up of my car to be towed. He said he was busy. I said, "Listen, I can't pull out of here with my wife and kids, towing my wife's car with my truck, across the country, unless I feel fully confident in the equipement I'm renting". Luis said, "I looked at it, and it's all good". I said, "well, at least come and go over things with me, to make sure I'm fully up to speed and hooking things up, and re-checking things along the 9 day trip". Luis responded abruptly with: "I can't help you right now, because I'm busy with a client!". I was totally shocked. Who am I, I thought. I'm a client/customer too, and I'm being treated like garbage, right before a cross country trip with my family and all our personal belongings. Two of his own staff (who witnessed the way he spoke and treated me) both confirmed that he was often like this with other customers, and gave me a pamphlet with a number to call and complain. I was also told that if I had any trouble with the (old worn out) tow dolly provided, that with the insurance I paid extra for, a new tow dolly would be provided and rushed to the location I broke down at. Well, sure enough the crappy tow dolly did break down, and I spent over an hour on the phone trying to get things figured out that evening (after another 9 hour day of driving) which was the last thing anyone wants to do after a long day of driving. I ended up having to pay for an extra night at a hotel, due to all the time it took to get a new tow dolly. I also had to drive further out of my way than our (already) long trip to get the new tow dolly, because it was not brought to my location like I was initially told. I was also told over the phone by a lady named Hayley (from customer service, when dealing with the replacement of the broken tow dolly) that a discount would be provided, due to all the extra trouble and stress that was caused on our trip. I thanked her for her help, but recently I called my credit card company, and no such "discount" had been given.Andre B.

the customer service was professional and fast. I made a reservation and the U-haul associate processed my reservation excellently. The pick-up truck ran amazingly. They checked on me when I did not return the truck at the time I had indicated in my reservation and they did not make me feel like I was in trouble for not returning it at the time I indicated. Thank you for that. The return was easy as I turned it in the second day after hours. I have not yet checked the charges, so I hope this excellent review will stay this way. We rented a uhual and when we got home, we opened the back to discover it was full of trash, cigarette buds, clothes, and even a needle. The truck smelled like cigarettes. We had to clean it off and sweep it in order to put our belongings in there.saul A.

When I arrived to the location I was told trailer I had reserved Was not available. No one ever called me to inform me. Person over the counter was rude, never offered an apology. Spoke to the â€œscheduling managerâ€ over the phone who was also rude. I ended up spending more money than planned since I ended up renting a van. I had to pay for gas and miles. Before I left, van dashboard was marking low tire. I told an employee and he said it was a sensor. Next morning when I woke up I had a flat tire. Because of the flat tire I was late to where I had to be. While there tire became flat again. I called uhaul to speak to a supervisor, I was told no one was in. That i would be getting a call. The entire situation inconvenienced my business and day. Uhaul needs to train their employees in customer service. Also someone needs to call customers to inform if something isn't available. I wad refunded $50, but that still doesn't cover all the expenses I had to make because an error you guys made. Still waiting on the call from a supervisor.Carmen C.

The initial process of renting the unit was a but stressful as the staff member informed me that myself and another party reserved the same storage unit. Unsure how the system allowed that but they did. Since the other party reserved 30 min before me, they had first option to the unit. This was frustrating for me as my truck was there and ready to unload and they didn't appear to have their storage on site. In the end they opted to get a smaller unit and I was able to keep the unit I reserved but that was still a stressful experience. I also was not aware there were no elevators in the facility. Overall, I give the staff a 4 for trying their best to accommodate me, but the facility gets a 3 for no elevator and the unit not being the cleanest.JAMILA M. | First Impressions

U-HAUL location is the worst. No Freight elevator to carry heavy objects. So you have to carry everything to her narrow path up the stairs. I was so disappointed in the service.!!!! I would NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE INTO THAT CAODIC UNORGANIIZED MESS.! The staff there need #1 PANDEMIC, #2 CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING ASAP.!! Their business skills suck.!! If there was a minus 10 on the ratings that would sum it up. I made reservations with Fernando th day before I came in. I made it in last Sunday about 4:10pm, Matthew was working inside by hisself with no apparent concern for time until 4:30pm. He said he saw our reservation, but couldn't access it and if he couldn't access it in 10 minutes we'd have to come back tomorrow because he was off at 5pm and had somewhere else to be. We asked for a supervisor and was told there's no supervisor for that store. My son ask who do you report to.? We were told our store manager, but he's off on Sundays. We ask Matthew to call him because this situation warranted higher authority. He called Luis and told him the situation, because our Uhaul truck rental was round trip and was due back to Long Beach Uhaul by 7pm. Luis spoke with my son who explained our situation. Luis told my son he wouldn't be in until 7am Monday. Matthew spoke with Luis and explained the what the situation was on his end. We ask Matthew if he had tech support to help. Matthew said he wasn't trained in that area. Luis said he would call us right back in a few minutes and explain to my son what to do next. Luis called back, but seems from the conversation he and Matthew where not on the same page. Matthew said Luis didn't want to speak to us he told Matthew what to tell us.. We had to keep the Uhaul overnight. Our son, our, his help and my husband had to unload this 20 foot truck, because everything that was going to storage was loaded last blocking our bed, our clothes, everything we needed for home. I called customer service and explained the issue he took a complaint gave me references numbers and forwarded messages to the both stores managers in regards to our issues. I was told I'd would be contacted within 72hours We went back the next day and it was clear that these young men are children with NO APPROPRIATE TRAINING FOR THIS AREA OF BUSINESS. THEY HAVE NO VERRBAL SKILLS .WE ASK A QUESTION AND THEY'D SHAKE THEIR HEAD YES OR NO. THEY WHERE WEARING THEIR FACE MASK UNDER THEIR NOSE LIKE IT WAS AN ACCESSORY TO THEIR OUTFIT. NOT ONCE DID THEY USE THE HAND SANITIZER. AND THEY WHERE TOUCHING THEIR FACE,SCRATCHING THEIR NOSE OR FACE, TOUCHING THE KEYBOARD, THE DOORS, COUNTERS, CHAIRS YOU NAME IT. IT WOULDN'T SURPRISE ME IF THAT ENTIRE STORE CONTRACTED AND UNKNOWINGLY EXPOSED OTHERS TO COVID-19 AND THAT'S THE SAD PART. IT'S BEEN A WEEK I WAS TOLD I'D RECEIVE A FOLLOW UP CALL IN 72 HOURS. DIDN'T HAPPEN. MY SON HAD TO LEAVE WORK EARLY TO GET TO THE UHAUL ON VERMONT AND BACK TO LONG BEACH IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC BY 7PM. I WAITED TO COMPLETE THIS SURVEY TO SEE IF I WOULD CALM DOWN AND HAVE A BETTER OUT LOOK ON THE SITUATION. THIS UHAUL STORE MAKE ME SICK AND IF IT WHERE ANYTHING LESS THAN POOR IT WOULD SUM IT UP THE SERVICE WE RECEIVED ON EVERY TIME I'VE COME TO THIS STORE. I THOUGHT ABOUT THE SERVICE I RECEIVED 3 YEARS AGO WAS A ISOLATED INCIDENT, BUT. NO THIS IS HOW YOU OPERATE. UNPROFESSIONAL AND NO SKILLS IN THIS LINE OF BUSINESS IS PUTTING IT MILDLY.!!! I'D RATHER DO BUSINESS WITH THE HOMELESS PEOPLE THAT SLEEP AROUND YOUR BULIDING THEN WITH THE STAFF THERE. THREE YEARS AGO I RENTED A STORAGE UNIT SAME FOOLISHNESS. NO KEY CARDS TO GET IN, HAD TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE THE SUPERVISOR KNEW WHERE THEY WERE KEPT. THEY FORGOT TO TELL ME I NEEDED A LOCK TO SECURE OUR STORAGE, THEY HAD TO COME BACK UNLOCK SELL ME A PADLOCK. THEY LEFT US STANDING OUTSIDE THE STORAGE, DIDN'T ASK IF WE UNDERSTOOD WHAT WE WERE DOING. THE MORE QUESTIONS I ASKED THE FASTER THEY GOT OUT OF THERE. The facility was disgustingly dirty, I got half way into moving my stuff in when I notice a cockroach the size of my palm. Then I began to notice dead roaches all through out the facility. I was charged when I wasn’t supposed to be for my first month and I had to extend my rental reservation and move all of my belongings out of your storage because it was not properly maintained for users. Beyond disappointing and an incredibly stressful day. Also, the young man didn’t know how to do his job. He had to call his manager every five minutes. He was helpful and assured me I should not be charged for my extended reservation and I will be refunded fully for the unit I do not have.
