RICHARD SI believe I was treated poorly by Samatha about my auto transport rental. I called and informed that I would be late on my return such that when I was hauling behind a U-Haul box truck my running lamps on the trailer continued to flicker on and off with bumps. I stopped 3 times along the was to troubleshoot. I ended up making it from VA to SC and began unloading. I fell asleep around 3 am. In the morn I called the SC uhaul I was returning the box truck to to inform them I would be late for this reason. I showed up about 3 hrs late and they were awesome and understood. Now at this point I had concerns of driving the 6hrs back if there would be lamp trouble as it would be in dark as I returned the auto transport to VA. So I hooked it up to my pickup truck and then I lost the running lamps all together, not just flickering. I called VA uhaul about this issue and they were very hostile to me about not returning the in town trailer to the VA location. So I continued troubleshooting if it was my personal vehicle or the trailer. Uhaul sent a tech out and he confirmed it was my personal vehicle’s issue. So then I again tried to tell VA uhaul that I did not have running lamps thus had to wait till the morn to leave. They acknowledged. I then woke up the next morning to a text from the regional office informing me that if I didn’t call them it could be reported stolen. I had been extremely open in communicating my issues and as they were determined I continued to inform. I was very displeased that no one would give me an actual dollar amount I would owe and to who, for not returning an in-town trailer to the original location. In fact, I would argue that me and my wife were bullied into accepting no one would tell us, and each U-Haul said it was up to the other U-Haul on permission and price. It was not until my drive from SC to VA that when I spoke to someone at regional it was cleared up what the issue was and what was going on. VA uhaul only charged me for one extra day which I appreciate and think is a fair deal since it was determined something happened with my personal vehicle. I will say though, that I have never had an issue with running lamps and own several boat trailers that never had an issue. But nevertheless, I am writing this review for the way no one would be forthright in what the financial penalty was for returning to the wrong location, not understanding that I had to drive in the light, and the fact that regional U-Haul is so uniformed of the situation that they are requesting immediate contact or potential penalty of reporting this as stolen. I understand that people lying, deceiving, and theft is probably a real issue franchises face on a monthly basis, however, if a franchise hinges on the fact they receive their exact trailer back, something is not correct. What if the issue was with the trailer? Uhaul would have taken it and fixed it and I doubt it would be shipped back to VA. They would just get one dropped off. I understand there is a different rate. No one would talk to me about that.

CARDELL TPRO: The customer service was outstanding by Mary! She really made a tough moving day a great experience by going out of her way to help including coming out and helping move and hook up a 6x12 cargo trailer. The two others I have rented at other locations and they just pointed to where it was. She came out with a trailer dolly in the cold and helped my hook it up to the rental truck. She is awesome. CON: The 6x12 trailers really need to have jacks and it's a safety issue. You basically have to deadlift the trailer tongue onto the truck and someone is going to get hurt. Would also recommend wheel chocks to keep them from rolling over someone when disconnected on a hill. WISH: Rental of extended ramps. The truck ramp was too short and made the grade down a bit steep and dangerous for heavy items. Would be great to have a longer ramp available that could hook into the truck body.

The second person who called letting me know my reservation was being changed once again was incredibly unprofessional when I insisted on a location that was convenient to my needs instead of the opposite direction and keeping my pickup time which was required to fit with my moving help. Fortunately the change resulted in the best pickup experience. I have rented 4 times in the past two months and this was by far the smoothest and most pleasant of them!

I panic and thought I didn’t have the key for the pad lock and I accused him of not giving me the key when he actually did give it to me and he was so polite, he talked me down and called back later to make sure I was ok and not once did he get frustrated with me . I will always use this location for all my business needs.

Richard SLady receiving my truck was rude, and very hospitable. Charged me a cleaning fee and told me to call the other location. When I called the originating location Mike and Sean tried to help. The lady became aggressive and nasty to Mike they had some words over my cellphone arguing about a guy named Steve and I walked away charged money. I want a full refund from all of this. Extremely poor customer service.

Using my plastic key card on the swipe pad was unnecessary. Always had access without using it. Also lighting was very poor inside the storage units, unless your unit was very near a light source. Mine was not. Other than that... I had a good experience. The office personnel was always wonderful!

When brought to the managers attention she was unaware of what climate control means and first started by telling me I was wrong about it being 100 degrees even with picture proof. There is no lighting in any of the units as they removed all lightbulbs and if the socket for your light bulb doesn't work the manager also said they will refuse to fix or replace it.

Dwight H | Overall ExperienceI checked the "NO" box for the staff rating because while the manager of this facility is amazing, the gentleman I interacted with this past Saturday, and once before, was far from amazing. He has no customer service skills. His demeanor was dismissive. He acted as though he had better things to do and I was interrupting his personal time. For example, during my check out, I asked if there was any kind of partial reimbursement given for the rent I pre-paid. He just laughed and didn't answer me. I asked if that meant "No" and he replied (barely) with "Yeah. Also, after the transaction, I asked if I could wait inside the office area until my husband returned to retrieve me. It was 97 degrees outside. Without looking at me, because he was already busy on his phone, he mumbled something and I said, "Excuse me". He basically grunted and sighed at me, sarcastically smiled, rolled his eyes and said, "Yeah". His reaction to me asking to use the bathroom and thanking him afterwards was essentially the same, and he was still on his phone. He does NOT need to be the first, last, or any, interaction people have with UHAUL. Samantha, the manager is wonderful. She is extremely helpful, and has an extremely positive attitude. She is truly an asset to this company. On the few occasions I have needed assistance, she was a pleasure to deal with. Facility related, the only negative I have is the hallway where my unit (B-22) was located was not lit well at all. If the sun is not out, it is very dark and a flashlight is necessary. Using a hand-held flashlight or cell phone light while moving boxes, etc., is a bit inconvenient. I was pleased that for as long as I have had this unit, my things did not sustain any damage. I was also pleased with the convenience of the location and rental cost. I checked the YES box that I would recommend this facility to others, but with the caveat that they ONLY deal with Samantha. We had a death in the family soon after we packed the unit. I had not yet set up the auto pay and missed the first payment by a few days. Instead of sending me a friendly reminder, they mailed a very threatening past due letter by way of my neighbor whom I had assigned as our reference. I was terribly embarrassed and mailed a check immediately BUT before it arrived they sent the neighbor a SECOND letter onkly a week after the first letter, with NO comparable letter to me. I was now very ANGRY as well as doubly embarrassed at this very unnecessary move on U-Haul's part. I called the local office and complained and assured them I had just mailed a check. The lady showed NO empathy at all and flatly explained it's company policy. I called corporate and they said someone will be contacting me shortly. It's been five months and I'm still waiting. NEVER NEVER MISS A PAYMENT for U-Haul storage - not even by a few days!!! U-Haul really hates that and will immediately come after you and your reference person with threats.

I moved from Florida to Virginia, made a reservation online, then spoke to a rep on the phone to be sure everything was in line. I rented a truck and was offered a free month of storage with my rental so I accepted and requested that I return the truck at the same place as the unit, a 10 x 10 climate controlled unit. I stressed climate control and was assured that my unit was reserved. When I got here, the unit was a 10 x 15 NON climate controlled. The manager was very snooty and insisted that I had reserved it and no cc were available. I had to leave my stuff here for a few months as I was in an accident. I just spent $250 to move my things to a different storage facility because my things were filthy, water had gotten in and mildew was on some of my furnture. There were also tons of dead bugs in my things. I rented a truck from this location to move - arrived to find they had cancelled because I was not there at 8 am. I told the (again) very rude and condescending manager that I was not made aware that I had to be there at 8 and she was short, cut me off, insisted that her employee said that, lectured on and on. Absolutely zero customer service. Turns out there were other trucks available, she could have apologized for the misunderstanding and made for a positive experience. I would not recommend at all. There are plenty of other storage facilities around here. For the record, the other employee was very polite.
