There were several things that happened where U-Haul failed repeatedly to uphold the contract and services I paid for. First, the truck I rented was not ready at 5am, unlike I reserved it. It was scheduled for a hand delivery and I had to wait until 7am when the location opened. Besides going against the agreed services I expect from U-Haul, this had an impact on my small business. I rented to U-Haul to transport my equipment to a farmers market that began at 8am. The failure from U-Haul to have the equipment ready at the reserved time caused be to be at the event late, for which there is a $50 fee. Additionally, I wasn't able to start operating until around 9 a.m., so I lost revenue from the morning rush of customers, an estimated $300 loss for me. Then, the rate that U-Haul charged was $0.99 per mile, which was against the agreed upon rate, which was $0.69. The rep who spoke to me at the store said he didn't understand why my truck wasn't ready for pick up at 5 am, and that I should request this be investigated. I'm requesting an investigation on what went wrong. And I want a full refund for the $49 I paid for this reservation and a full refund of the financial damages U-Haul's failure cost my business of $350 (this doesn't account for the damages to my reputation and brand, by the way). The staff was unprofessional. They never asked to see and ID or went over all the info they had on file in ase anything was incorrect. When I told them something was incorrect after seeing it on the printed paper, i was told “oh just come in one day and we can fix that”. I mean come on, I’m standing right here just do it now. Unnecessary charges were charge to my account. Car was returned, was stolen and I was charge with the fees after seeing it on camera that was clearly stolen and it was reported to the police. We only wanted to rent the U-Haul -NO extras. The U-Haul showed up with a dolly and a large bag of moving blankets. This wasted a lot of space we were planning on being able to use. We also used 24/7 truck share and found the key drop slot to be very hard to find - all the way around the building. We had to wander around a dark parking lot at night to find it. Please post a sign in the front door if the business biting where the key drop is.Christina W.

The setup in the parking lot is confusing, mostly due to no actual sign where to enter the facility, thus no idea where to park. Put a professional sign on your main entrance, not paper signs on all the other 3 doors and nothing on the actual entrance. You are a national recognized company and don't even have your name on your front door. The 24 hour dropoff process was very frustrating and not discussed at time of picking up the truck, even when I stated that I will be dropping off the truck after hours. This would have not been an issue if the online directions were correct, but they were not. The key drop was not where the online directions stated it should be and did not look like the drop box pictured online. Attempting to communicate with the number provided on the window of the store saying manager in charge was no success. It was only after attempting to drive behind the building where the key drop was finally located on the side of the building, where the online directions stated it was at the main entrance. That was frustrating. This location has been there for years, this is the first time I've used it, and was rather disappointed at the return process and lack of professionalism the location presents by not having proper directions for after-hours truck return and not having your name or simply the word "entrance" on your entrance. The truck was 100% nice, no issues and I appreciated the fuel economy meter installed as well. Thank you for your service, please fix the above issues and this would be a recommended place to rent a truck. Unfortunately I cannot recommend at this time.lucas F.

I would only suggest they pay attention when a customer says what they are moving. I told them we were moving a piano which should have been obvious that we would need a ramp. We originally rented a 10ft truck which does NOT have a ramp. Luckily we thought to check before leaving the parking lot and went back in to switch to a 15ft truck.JAYMALYN H.

The return process was not clear for open hours. The sign said to pull up, park and wait with the equipmentâ€¦. I waited for over 15 minutes, then went insideâ€¦there was a line I waited in for another 10 minutes. The lady at the counter, when I finally got there was indifferent with a response â€œoh, you just dropping off, did you need something?â€ I wish I'd have known that they were not expecting to speak with me. The location was fine however the truck I rented started making noises and all kinds of warning lights came on. I contacted Uhaul and it took over 30 minutes just for someone to pick granted it was a Sunday. The representative told me that she was opening my ticket and that we were waiting for a technician to pick up. I waited close to 2 hours and still no one was dispatched. I decided to take my chances and drive the truck with the warning lights. I did not want to be stuck in the area I was in after dark. The truck made the trip with no issues. When I went to drop the keys off I could not find the drop box anywhere nor did I receive a text telling me where to find. When I returned the following morning with the keys the receptionist told me the box was located on the back of the building. How would anyone have known that with no instruction. The option to use your phone to check in and out was extremely frustrating. Since I was never able to make it work, I had to call in.. When I called in for assistance, I had to wait 35 minutes before someone came on the line. These 2 issues caused me to cancel and then reschedule for the next morning. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!! I rated the location the way that I did because everyone was friendly and helpful that next morning. The problems I ran into were UHaul's fault, not that location's.RAVEN W.

My only recommendation would be to focus on the people part over the equipment. I understand the balance of the two is needed but for instance, I dropped off my trailer and was told to wait to make sure everything was closed out but they moved some trailers around first rather than get me checked out and on my way.MICHAEL B.

The truck was filthy, clean the Trucks and what kind of company sends out a truck with no cruise control on a 1500 mile trip. Not to mention it ruined all my food and fruit because the floor was blistering hot and melted my butter, chocolate and blackened my bananas. Went in to get my unit and even though there was a very long line and about a 30 min wait....the gentlemen behind the counter were very nice and helpful. However, when I went to move into my unit....it had a sticker stating "needs cleaning." So I went to the office to inquire. When I walked up there; I asked a young african american male to assist me.... he replied back with "yo no hablo espanol." And began laughing (In front of another customer) I repeated that I needed help and he said it again. Not sire if he was being racist or trying to be funny but I thought this was being very disrespectful. Storage units are alarmed individually which is really nice. The facility is clean and they have bays you can pull into to load and uload. The staff is very friendly and helpful. First of all, I rented a enclosed trailer from you guys. Pulling it was like pulling a dead horse through quick sand. (Iowa to Arizona) this trailer would slow me down if I tapped on my brakes due to a car going slower in front if me the I could feel the trailer pulling me back. Going down a hill it would it would pull against me and made my vehicles transmission Rev up to 500/600 rpm's before it would shift down. I'm very upset about the crappy equipment and I'm sure the ware on my vehicle will show in time. Gas mileage was at least 3x higher then average. Then after driving all night to make sure I got to your location to upload it before my time was up. Every u haul except for the hubble location in dsm, IA were rude with NO CUSTOMER RESPECT! When I went to return the trailer I used your storage just so I wasn't charged extra. So I told the gentlemen I was rented a unit so I could put my things in there so it was unloaded on time. I mentioned that I was disabled, drove all night only to be put in a unit A LONG WAY FROM THE ENTRANCE! I FELT LIKE I WAS GONNA HAVE ANOTHER STROKE FROM UNLOADING IT. While unloading the trailer I noticed so many empty units. My question is why??? Why did I get a unit so far away being disabled. This is discrimination towards disabled folks. All of the folks I had to deal with(except Hubbell) were rude and had no respect towards me the customer. I WILL NEVER RENT ANYTHING AGAIN! I'll make sure I let everyone know how I was treated. THE gentleman in Oklahoma who I stop to talk to about the issues I was having made me feel like I was stupid. Sorry I actually think I knew more then him. He asked me to pop my hood, I was like Hu. But I did pop it open only to see he didn't know how to unlatch it. He then left to go help someone else. So I got out after seeing he had no clue how too. So I opened it up. He finally came back and he pulled the dip stick and said yup oil is fine. I almost cried laughing. I said dude oil has NOTHING to do with this issue. Just because I was aady he thought I was stupid. My anger grew even higher. By the time I left there nothing was solved. It's time for your company to get up to date with equipment. There's campers lighter then the dead horses you rent. The staff = very good. This is however a former H-depot or Big box store and so you cannot easily drive up & unload big items . We had a 3 bedroom house & my 2 children and I TRULY struggled to get our stuff through a smaller (like a front door width) back door of facility. I was told ALL the front units near the double doors were ‘in use’. They should advise location of doors & size in the climate controlled areas.
