I did not need or ask for furniture pads. They just came with a warning that they must all be returned (in original vacuum-packed bags) or there will be a fine. More importantly: EVERYONE I SPOKE WITH HAD A DIFFERENT NUMBER FOR WHAT I WOULD BE BILLED AND THE ACTUAL BILL MATCHED NONE OF THEIR ESTIMATES. Get everything in writing. i got a completely LITERALLY a completely empty truck. I was told a fee for 40 was going to be put and it will be taken off for filling the truck to a 1/4. wtf??? I only used the truck for about 3 hours and added around a 1/4. OH AND BY THE WAY IT COST LITERALLY 40$ JUST TO GET TO A QUARTER OF A TANK HAHA I JUST SPENT EXTRA MONEY FILLING YOUR TRUCK. I would like money back. honestly as my first time ever renting out this is completely a joke. never again. i'll just use a family vehicle this next time as I didnt want to just because I wasnt aware of the luggage I was going to be moving and wanted to do a one time trip. a complete joke on this locations end.Frankie O.

I have used this location a couple of times before and both times before service was good, drop off was easy with the app. I tried using them a third time but the worker at the time wasn't very friendly and I choose to go with another location ultimately paying more in milage. This fourth time I just made the reservation and the worker this time was good, when getting the van for me he noticed that the truck wasn't ai 1/4 like it said but more at 1Ã¾8th. He spoke with the manager and the manager signed my paper and wrote that he would give me a $40 fuel credit. With this I figured if their going to give it back I'll put $40 in gas. That filled the truck to half and I barely used any of the gas. When I went to return it this time I went inside so that I could get the credit applied. The guy took my paper and said that I would get billed once the truck was inspected. So yesterday I got an email with my receipt and I was only credit $19.90 in fuel credit. Not the $40 the manager said. I know $40 maybe was too much for the manager to do but next time he should be smarter and not give out an amount he isn't going to stand by. So I was disappointed with this last time. Luckily if I move again I wouldn't be using this location because I moved to a different area but even aside from that I would caution ppl about using them, because not everyone there is good with working in customer service.Agustina F.

We reserved a 15 ft truck at one location and they did not have it so we were sent to another location 30 minutes away. They gave us a smaller truck which made us have to make several extra trips and pay the movers more. This cost is a lot of extra time and money. We are not happy with uhaul.Suzan G.

I am writing to report a very concerning, disturbing, and unfortunate experience I had with U-Haul this past weekend on Saturday, April 23rd. I had a made a reservation Tuesday, April 19th to originally pick up a 20' U-Haul truck from the location in Rio Estrella Storage Solutions, address: 1429 N. Eliseo Felix Jr Way, Avondale, AZ 85323. The morning of Saturday, April 19th I received a phone call at 8am informing me the location has switched for pick up to 43rd avenue and Camelback in Phoenix. Exact location of 4240 W. Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85019. I was currently living in Avondale and moving to Ahwatukee and the manager on the phone explained to me that due to an unforeseen reason the location for pick up had to change. I understood and made my way to the location on 43rd Avenue and Camelback by 10am. The gentleman who helped my father and I at the counter checked us out and informed us he wasn't sure why but the 20' truck they were giving us was on empty. He informed us that if we brought the truck brought it back with a quarter of a tank that we would not be charged for gas. We then left the lot with the 20' truck and went immediately to the gas station less than a mile away from the location. We started to put gas in the truck and as my father and I stood there filling the gas we noticed it leaking everywhere from the bottom of the truck and splashing everywhere including on our clothes. We immediately stopped pumping gas and informed the gas station clerk gas had spilled everywhere. We then drove back to the U-haul on 43rd Ave and Camelback, informing the gentleman about the gas and he stated "this has been happening people are stealing gas and you guys really smell like gas." He was very nonchalant like this was something normal but at this point a tremendous inconvenience for myself and my father. It took the manager an additional 20 minutes to work with us at this location and she was not able to find another 20' truck for us to use. She was then able to locate a 15' truck for us to use all the way on central and baseline at the location of 340 E. Baseline Rd. I was not happy with this because by the time we got to this location 2 and half hours have now passed. We then proceeded to the location and the gentleman/manager at this location was very nice and understanding but also stated no discount could be provided at this time because that's not how it works. At this point I accepted the situation and had to have the truck in order to be moved out by end of day. Originally I had chosen the location drop off to be at the U-haul on 8162 S. Priest. Both times we picked up the truck the closest location for return was not this address and was an additional 30/40 minutes away from the Ahwatukee area to which I moved to. I had to select the option of don't know where to drop off as of yet. When I called the 1-800-352-6097 a gentleman assisted me and gave me the address to drop the truck off in Tempe to Molina Patio Furniture, address of 1245 W. Elliot Rd. He informed me they closed at 5pm and I made it there at 4:30pm. The location was closed, the store hours on the door said they were open until 6pm on Saturday but the door was locked and no one was in the store. I also called the store and no one answered. I then had to call the U-Haul 800 number back and inform them of the situation and he was then able to get me scheduled for the drop off location of 8162 S. Priest Rd. At this point in time with being covered in gasoline when my father and I went into ALL U-Haul locations they proceeded to tell us we smelled like gas and at the first location of 43rd Ave and Camelback the manager stated the fumes were too much for her and if my father could please step out of the building, which he did. I ended up spending a total of 4 hours traveling to and from U-hauls and dealing with this inconvenience. Ever since Saturday, April 23rd I have now developed this cough and I am thinking it may have to go something with the gasoline smell being all over our clothes that day. I have also taken covid test to ensure it is not covid and I am researching about going to get an exam out at an urgent care to avoid any further lingering of my cough. I also have not been refunded for the original U-Haul I picked up that head a leak of $81.83 and then was charged again $76.65 for the 15' U-haul truck. I was also charged an additional $7.43 from the drop off location on Priest in Tempe. I also had to pay $30.93 in gas for the U-haul. I believe at this point I am requesting a full refund for the faulty U-haul truck, and not providing me with the correct size truck, all time spent in traveling for pick ups and be reimbursed for the gas I had to put in the truck. This amounts to $196.84. I am also worried about the fumes that have been ingested from the gasoline and will make the decision if further action is needed. I arrived into the loading bay with truck. Two employees were standing outside. Nobody greeted me and assisted me with the truck return. I wanted for about 10 min outside and finally got out of truck and went inside. NO CUSTOMERS INSIDE, the three guys were talking about borrowing money from each other and took my keys. I was told by an employee I could only access my unit during business hours 7-7:30pm and that had always been the case. I then informed the rep that hadn’t been my previous experience storing with other UHaul locations. My account was also reported as past due when my due date hadn’t yet passed. I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone as they seem to make up their own rules and not a reflection of my overall UHaul experience. My only suggestion is to improve the access to units which always set off the alarm. Entering my code never seemed to work. This is the first time I’ve ever had a negative experience with UHaul. For starters, this location which is normally well staffed only had one rep at the counter. While the rep was very helpful it was obvious he was overwhelmed. To make matters worst I was later told the facility closed at 7:30 pm and customers could not access the location. Something I had never experienced at any other UHaul storage facilities and very unacceptable. When i expressed my concerns I was told people were caught sleeping on site. Went in to get my unit and even though there was a very long line and about a 30 min wait....the gentlemen behind the counter were very nice and helpful. However, when I went to move into my unit....it had a sticker stating "needs cleaning." So I went to the office to inquire. When I walked up there; I asked a young african american male to assist me.... he replied back with "yo no hablo espanol." And began laughing (In front of another customer) I repeated that I needed help and he said it again. Not sire if he was being racist or trying to be funny but I thought this was being very disrespectful. Storage units are alarmed individually which is really nice. The facility is clean and they have bays you can pull into to load and uload. The staff is very friendly and helpful. First of all, I rented a enclosed trailer from you guys. Pulling it was like pulling a dead horse through quick sand. (Iowa to Arizona) this trailer would slow me down if I tapped on my brakes due to a car going slower in front if me the I could feel the trailer pulling me back. Going down a hill it would it would pull against me and made my vehicles transmission Rev up to 500/600 rpm's before it would shift down. I'm very upset about the crappy equipment and I'm sure the ware on my vehicle will show in time. Gas mileage was at least 3x higher then average. Then after driving all night to make sure I got to your location to upload it before my time was up. Every u haul except for the hubble location in dsm, IA were rude with NO CUSTOMER RESPECT! When I went to return the trailer I used your storage just so I wasn't charged extra. So I told the gentlemen I was rented a unit so I could put my things in there so it was unloaded on time. I mentioned that I was disabled, drove all night only to be put in a unit A LONG WAY FROM THE ENTRANCE! I FELT LIKE I WAS GONNA HAVE ANOTHER STROKE FROM UNLOADING IT. While unloading the trailer I noticed so many empty units. My question is why??? Why did I get a unit so far away being disabled. This is discrimination towards disabled folks. All of the folks I had to deal with(except Hubbell) were rude and had no respect towards me the customer. I WILL NEVER RENT ANYTHING AGAIN! I'll make sure I let everyone know how I was treated. THE gentleman in Oklahoma who I stop to talk to about the issues I was having made me feel like I was stupid. Sorry I actually think I knew more then him. He asked me to pop my hood, I was like Hu. But I did pop it open only to see he didn't know how to unlatch it. He then left to go help someone else. So I got out after seeing he had no clue how too. So I opened it up. He finally came back and he pulled the dip stick and said yup oil is fine. I almost cried laughing. I said dude oil has NOTHING to do with this issue. Just because I was aady he thought I was stupid. My anger grew even higher. By the time I left there nothing was solved. It's time for your company to get up to date with equipment. There's campers lighter then the dead horses you rent. In order to get this paid, I was on the phone several different times for over four hours. Very spacious and clean from the parking lot to the storage unit. The staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the company and answered every question perfectly. The staff = very good. This is however a former H-depot or Big box store and so you cannot easily drive up & unload big items . We had a 3 bedroom house & my 2 children and I TRULY struggled to get our stuff through a smaller (like a front door width) back door of facility. I was told ALL the front units near the double doors were ‘in use’. They should advise location of doors & size in the climate controlled areas. It’s COVID times and everyone needs storage - but not a great choice for me . I advise go and “see” units available FIRST! It IS however SPOTLESSLY clean.EMILIE B. | First Impressions

When I first signed up the gentleman who assisted me was very helpful and knowledgeable. I just don't like being unable to access storage when I'm supposed to be allowed to. When I went to move out it seemed that the employees there were very nonchalant about the situation. The facility needs a lot of work. The doors to enter don’t work all the time. The staff is the most incompetent group of individuals I have ever met. Anytime I’ve had to go into the office to buy or rent anything it’s a minimum of 1 hour ordeal, that’s if I can find anyone. Half the time when I walk in the office there are no employees to be found.
