I have had the opportunity to deal with U-Haul for my storage on a couple of occasions. Mostly for temporary storage. When you're in in a tight bind, I love the fact that they give you your first 30 days free. People have all kinds of situations that happen in life and for me just having that 30 days to relocate without worrying about having pay for where my things would be. Brittany from Jefferson Street Stamford location was very very professional Very patient Very helpful and that in itself shows character and made my day so much more easier. The on-call service was super great as well and All the workers at that location always greeted me with a smile and was always there willing to help. I would definitely recommend this U-Haul and I would definitely use them again. 💫

While the location was exceptional and the staff was professional and efficient, U-Haul National was appalling and I don't want my poor treatment by the National office to reflect on the Stamford location. The National office is the reason I cannot recommend U-Haul in general. I was contacted at 15:40 the day before a 07:00 pickup that I would have to travel an additional (40) minutes south (Bridgeport to Stamford). I made my reservation at my local office weeks in advance but only received notification the day before. This required changing travel plans, additional traffic and more mileage charges. For this reason, I will recommend United Rentals, Penske, HERC, Sunbelt...ANYBODY else.

My apprehension with rating this location an “excellent” rating is merely because of my inability to reach a team member at that location for days-on-end. In addition I would have hoped for later hours for accessibility. The manager Brittany Hatch, is a knowledgeable professional who (I can understand) has her hands full with a busy facility. She and I eventually were able to find an effective form of communication in order to handle my needs and concerns. As well, she was flexible and helpful during my move-out transition. Parting is such sweet sorrow. As this was one of the many facilities I’ve used that made great improvements within the location and the unit I occupied was quite suitable for my belongings.

1. More staff, although the service they gave me was quite good. There was only one guy I saw helping customers and the other cleaning and receiving/moving trucks outside. They did their best but I felt they had their hands full with no margin for error. 2.Why do I have to take a picture of me and my license when I'm right there at the counter?

The people and the location provided excellent service, but the equipment had issues. The Engine oil was discolored very dark, and looked like it needed a replacement. The AC could not properly cool the cabin when it was most needed. The right hand mirrors could not be aimed at the same place properly. The mirrors were offset from each other. Most importantly, the gearshift selector was very loose. We went over a normal bump in the highway and the gearshift jumped from D to BETWEEN D and 3. The engine revved, and it seems like we had no power until I realized what it happened and pushed the gearshift lever back to D.

Having to use facial recognition is not cool. Driver's license should be enough. A credit card and ID is all you need. Making a smartphone a requirement is not acceptable.

The truck I had was dirty. They didn’t clean the front cab out at all. The check engine light was on. The tire pressure light kept coming on. The A.C. wasn’t working properly unless you put it on max AC.

They charge me $75 for cleaning fee and the truck was is the same shape as I got. And I guys seems like truck can’t have a little dirt or dust. That’s why’ you guys have a cleaning station to clean the trucks.doesn’t make sense

My recent experience with U-Haul in Stamford was excellent from start to finish. To begin, the representative on the telephone service line was proactive with getting me rescheduled for a new truck when I missed my initial pickup time--it was a seamless experience (I forget her name, I wish I could include it here). The representative Luis at the physical U-Haul location was similarly helpful, courteous, and professional from check-in to vehicle return. He was patient in answering the questions I had as a first-time U-Haul customer and he made sure I understood all necessary information. With all the things I had to coordinate with my move, it was a relief that my U-Haul experience was so supportive and straightforward.

Safe mo e was still added to my bill even though I refused it multiple times during pick up and booking. Also there a very predatory practices when returning a vehicle using the app. App tried to charge me an extra 180 dollars on top of what I was supposed to pay and automatically added fees for things that weren't necessary like cleaning

I had an excellent experience from the moment I reserved the truck online. The customer service was outstanding—Cody was the best, hands down. The team at Brothers Moving Company was equally impressive. Juan and Matt were fantastic—very knowledgeable, especially when it came to handling heavy furniture. They worked quickly during both loading and unloading, and packed my storage unit with great care, organization, and expertise. I highly recommend this company and will definitely be using their services again when I move my items out of storage. Overall, this was the best experience from beginning to finish.

This was an absolute nightmare. I was scheduled to move into my new house on December 20th. When my movers and I showed up to uhaul, we discovered neither the main nor the freight elevator were working. This DOUBLED my cost AND time to move and no one from uhaul seemed to care. I will make it my mission that no one I know uses the facility or services again

Storage was great. Brittany in Stamford was very nice and helpful. The movers that were subcontracted out by U-Haul to help were terrible. Came on foot with no tools or equipment and kept asking “what’s needs to get out of here?” every 10 seconds. I was moving out. Everything had to get out.

I booked a rental van and unit for a VERY last minute move on 3/1, so I went in to pick up the van and access the unit 30 min before closing time. I ended up having issues with the van after closing, and realized I needed a larger unit when I returned at almost midnight. Staff members were INCREDIBLY helpful and accommodating. Both Chad and Brittany went out of their way outside of business hours to help me resolve my issues. Chad helped me get the correct van after they had closed Saturday night, and Brittany (who was off Sunday) but helped me get the right size rental unit before Uhaul even opened on Sunday morning!! Thanks for your help, very much appreciated!

Due to different life circumstances, I had a varying number of storage units in the Stamford Uhaul storage facility for over 6 years! The staff there were always so wonderful; friendly, helpful and accommodating, and the building was convenient to get to, as well as clean and easily accessible whenever I needed to add or remove anything to my storage units. Through many life changes, it was always a comfort to know my stored items were in good hands and under a watchful eye at the Stamford Uhaul Storage facility. Thank you!

No elevator, single bay for you to unload cargo was taken for 2 hours so we had to carry heavy stuff thru railing. Most inconvenient storage facility i ever experienced.

The only units for rent were on the top level, and the elevator it was not working. This loan elevator apparently has issues quite often, as it is very old I am told. I would go out of my way to tell anyone who knows of the U-Haul storage facility to not use it. In 90° heat that is unfair to make people carry items upstairs. And I pay $160 a month for this unit. Now that I’ve offered this feedback I would like to hear from U-Haul on what you will do to credit me.

Difficult to park. Non U-haul staff members often waiting outside the facility soliciting work or sitting on the loading dock and have had to ask staff to ask them to move. Dumbwaiter elevator doors cumbersome. Often times other individuals did not know to close the exterior doors to make elevator available to others. We moved to another facility that was very well lit, plenty of parking, modern elevators and non-profit pricing so we were able to get more space at a lower price.

The staff were so helpful and very accommodating to our needs. We arrived to the storage facility later than planned due to traffic. We only had 1 1/2 hours to unload a 10 foot truck. Although we ran late the staff stayed open for an extra 20 minutes to accommodate our moving needs. That was an extraordinary act of concern and support for a customer! I am amazed! The Facilities manager who called me on Saturday afternoon was rude, impolite, unprofessional and a straight out little pr..k. (I am being kind here) The insolent little sh.t threatened me after his staff had let me know we could leave items next to the "Re-use Centre" as it was full of Uhaul boxes and equipment. The manager gave me a mouthful and told me the "Re-use" centre is closed and that the staff had no right to give me permission to leave any thing for Re-use. He instructed me that he was giving me until then end of the weekend to move the stuff shared for "Re-Use" and said he was noting the warning in the system as Uhaul do not dispose of belongings on behalf of clients. On arrival the next day there was one item left in the "Re-use" centre, I proceeded to clean out the storage unit and placed the left over item in to the locker. I then informed the Staff at the centre that Junk Luggers would be arriving in the morning to haul away the remaining items and asked what arrangement I could make to leave the Storage locker open for them. I was told that the items would be safe as the premises is under 24 hour surveillance and that they would put a red tag on the unit to seal it, that I did not have to lock the unit. The next day when Junk Luggers arrived they confirmed that the unit was locked with a red uhaul tag, but the contents of the locker did not match the inventory list I had shared with them. In short the staff appear to be nothing more than common criminals who helped themselves to the contents of the storage locker. If the staff did not commit the cold blood theft of the contents of the locker, you have a serious security problem on the premises. Lastly a staff member called me the next day wanting to charge me for taking my own lock and not returning it to them when I gave notice on the locker.

Construction is currently ongoing at the location and there is only one access dock. People who are not actively loading or unloading should not be able to park and wait.

I drove an hour to the facility, with my car full of stuff, and Uhaul would not let me into my unit. I had to drive back home with my car full. (They were painting the floors.) It was 3 days later that I was allowed in. They were rude unsympathetic and unhelpful.

The staff at this U-Haul on the date and time of my move-in deserve recognition! This could have been an average review, and they made it Excellent instead. When I got to this facility, I had reserved a storage unit. The staff informed me that the elevators were broken in an extremely kind and empathetic manner and that I would unfortunately have to carry my stuff up the back stairwell 3 flights to the 3rd floor where my storage unit was. They compensated me for this graciously and more than fairly and were extremely empathetic, sensitive, and kind about it throughout the entire process. Even as I was waiting on them to work through my situation with me, they were continuing this behavior with each and every customer that I saw walk in that day. This staff deserves recognition! This is the type of customer service that makes a company and provides a good name for a company, especially during times like these. U-Haul has provided me with great optimism and reason to be a long time customer and I can assure this company that the benefit of a long time customer like me with referrals because of service like this will far outweighs the compensation that was provided due to inadequate facilities to provide easy access to the storage unit when unloading a truck. Thank you U-Haul! The staff there was amazing. As someone who has experienced a series of tragedies over the last year, I cannot explain how heartwarming it is to have staff that isn't just professional, but kind and attentive, when you are moving and/or storing your life due to unforeseen circumstances. This is what is sorely needed. Jose and his people define what the experience should be for storage. Not "you are lucky to have us for storage", but "we are grateful to have you as a client." Would highly recommend for anyone.

Actually disgusting and the building is going to collapse. The elevator broke and required manual closing of doors. Please rebuild this place ground up. Literally drags the whole company down. I got the storage unit for free through a cross country deal and paid for a different companies storage just so I didn't have to use this place.

The staff at your Jefferson St. facility are the best; particularly Jose, Brittany and Joanna. They are friendly, extremely helpful and know the business. You are lucky to have them.

A lot of things happened outside their control. Elevator was broken, construction caused me to move units, couldn’t find the key to unlock the loading dock, etc. The experienced staff is super helpful and polite and the manager Jose always makes it right!

Joese Sanchez and the head female manager there are “WOW” I have had the worse experience with every storage company but these two I don’t even have the words for it. They made me feel like a member of their own family. The service,the attention to detail, the passion to help me and listen to me was incredible and that head woman manger is GREAT like DOPE.Every time she sees me she gives me a hug. I was going through a divorce and a separation from my daughter that daily hug made my day and she had no idea how healing it was. I wonder if she even knows she hugs me.She is just great. The level of service I got from there I know for a fact they didn’t acquire that from Uhaul it came from somewhere else. Jose Sanchez Is an absolute Angel.I don’t even want to leave Uhaul. I have told a lot of my friends to go there.There was a time I couldn’t get access to my clothes. The storage was closed by the city for nearly 4 months. I had no clothes to wear to go to my interview and they could not let me in at all.It what a tough situation and I needed to get to that job interview and my suits were in that storage. I don’t know how her and Jose pulled it off I got a rebate and I was able to buy a suit and tie for that interview and I got the job. Bravo to your team seriously.I love those two

The outdoor space is not easy. There are only 3 bays to back into and not a traditional parking lot. There were several times that I was unable to stop to access my storage unit due to lack of parking

Checking in took a long time. The person assisting us kept messing up our information in the system and got lost while showing us to/ from our unit. He also commented that most elevators don't work.
