Over the 7 years we had our units, here are my comments: --Four rate increases in last three years (50 percent) - too much to pay for storage. This was the main reason we left. --Change debit cards twice, and both times the transition was bungled despite prior notification. --Closed out unit in the middle of the month and there was no pro-rated refund. I had two totally different experiences at this location. The person who took my reservation on Oct 28 and set me up with the rental vehicle on Oct 31 was excellent. He was knowledgeable and friendly and efficient.The person who checked over the vehicle at the end of the day was arrogant, abrupt and wrong. I understood my obligation to return the truck with a full tank of gas. I put 8.899 gallons of gas into the vehicle minutes before returning it. I drove 83 miles that day. For some reason, the needle on the fuel gauge did not go all the way to "Full". I was told that based upon the position of the needle on the gauge, it would take approximately 5 more gallons to fill the tank. 14 gallons to drive 83 miles seemed excessive to me. I was tired after working all day and told him to just fill the tank. My bill reflected about $25 to fill the tank and my "final" bill was about $150. I subsequently received an email informing me that it only took 2 gallons of gas to fill the tank. My bill was adjusted to $132. My card was charged both $150 and $132. It was the better part of the week before the $150 credit showed up. Why did UHaul not issue a credit immediately? Why did the fuel pump shut off at 8.8 gallons thinking that the tank was full. Is this an attempt by UHaul to grab another couple of dollars? Also, the vehicle wreaked of the smell of marijuana, presumable from a previous customer. I have rented UHaul vehicles and trailers on multiple occasions since the 1970's. This was by far the most unpleasant experience I've had.joseph W.

The blankets were not placed in the truck and the dolly was broken. The pickup location was over an hour from where I lived. There are two UHaul locations within 10 minutes from where I lived. I reserved the truck nearly two months in advance and prepaid.John B.

My reservation was changed twice which caused a bit of an inconvenience. The first change was a time change rescheduling my pick up to an hour later. The second change was phoned into me 17 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the truck. This was a location change which cost me another hour delay in getting to work. I understand it is a busy day with move-ins, but I feel that the person who didn't return the truck in time is the one who should have had to wait for another truck. In all, I spent another hour and half in transit to pick up and drop off and coordinating rides to and from Oakland Beach.Janet W.

When I picked up the truck on Friday, I was about 10-15 minutes early. I asked the young guy if I would be charged for that time because it is due back 4pm the next day. I get a call the next day from a guy in the local office (Mr Personality- he doesn't know how to deal with the public) while I'm on the road traveling back and says 'Are you going to have the truck back by 3:40. I then explained my conversation (above) the previous day and he insists it be back by 3:40 but I kept stating my contract is in till 4pm. He needs to get a clue.Michael T.

The office personnel who checked me in were very helpful. When I returned to empty the storage, however, one the office persons was closing the door when I arrived and asked if there was a restroom I could use. He informed me that the storage building had no restrooms and that they were closed. I would have delayed them 2-3 minutes at the most. After arriving in Rhode Island I realized I didn’t reserve a big enough storage unit. When I mentioned this to the gentleman that was assisting me, he not only did what he could to get me a bigger unit, he also informed me that because I relocated to another state I also got the first month free for my storage unit. If I was in a position to improve anything at U Haul it would be the wait time at your call center. I realize there are many customers all attempting too speak with a representative and some if not most could easily access your on line service. But in my situation I wasn’t able to get access to make a reservation for my storage. I am not sure if I had spoke with a representative on the phone my issue would have been resolved? Because I hung up several times from frustration of listening to your recorded messages prompting me to use the online service that I could not. The longest wait time was almost a half n hour . My solution was to drive directly to the location . When we emptied the storage bin, I went into the office to close out the paper work I asked if we would get money back since we were closing out a couple of days early would get a refund. My one complaint is that even though I had made a reservation and given my credit card, the unit I had reserved was given to someone else. End result: I was stuck with a unit that is NOT directly accessible from the outside, which inconvenienced me and caused me to pay more for my movers (to pay for the “extra steps”).
