vehicle broke down, it took over an hour for the road assistant to show up. The road assistant came with a lower voltage charger therefore he was trying for over 45 minutes to get the vehicle charged, alternating the 2 charger he brought, after we asked him to get a back-up.. He finally used 2 chargers to get it going.. My wife was terribly late for her work. We came back and the lady at the desk would only compensate with 50.00. We wanted to speak with the manager,but would not pick our calls.

U haul assigned a storage unit that was locked and not ready for customer use. I was stuck with no help and support for 2 hours before I decided to leave. I tried reaching the support centre and the online check in didn’t work both on website and app for 3 different cards. No courtesy call back from manager was given after committing that to me. No compensation in any form was provided.

The people I dealt with were excellent. The equipment worked well and assisted in getting me on my way. However, despite my returning the vehicle with exactly the same amount of gas it had when I picked it up, the system still tried to charge me for 8 L of gasoline. Even though the personnel reverse the charge, it should not have happened in the first place. Otherwise, with the exception of the gas experience, the whole experience was a positive one and helped me out of a jam when I needed it.

Make sure the lock actually opens. I tried all of the suggestions and watched the video and wasted almost half an hour and then had to go in and they gave me a new truck but the app wouldn’t let me take pictures of it because of the different licence plate. Which took up a lot of my rental time.

I reserved a cargo van several days before the pickup date. I provided all the pertinent information at this time thinking this would expedite the process during my check in and pick up of the Van. It did not. The whole process was repeated and I had to wait inline which consumed 30 minutes of my time. Was this just me? or is there room for a more streamlined service here?

I have rented trailers from this location a few times before unfortunately every time I go the wait times along this time around the wait time was extremely long and one girl attendant was on the phone for 20 minutes and then it took another 20 minutes to do the paperwork the whole process was about an hour, perhaps longer I will not be using in this location again, the staff was very un knowledgable

I was leaving the lot after a successful trailer rental and return. While leaving the lot a trailer stand was left in the exit lane which logged underneath my car. The lot attendants worked frantically to remedy this situation. They hammered the stand loose while trying to jack up the cart with a stone and a piece of wood. I asked if there was a manager on duty and that they would notify her and come over. The attendants did not get the manager so I went to look for her. I saw a lady in the shop and asked if she was the manager. She confirmed upon which I notified her that there was an accident. She told me to wait upon w which is asserted again that there was an accident. She was curt with me and reported that she would be there soon. I went outside and waited next to my vehicle for about 5 minutes along side the two lot attendants. When she appeared spoke in a foreign language to the to lot attendants without addressing me. She then proceeded to tell me to take to steps back because I was in her space. I was already with standing with my back to my car and pointed to the empty lot behind her and suggested that she might be in a better position to create that she spaced for the both of us. She the proceeded to tell me that it was my fault since the use the trailer stand all the time. I pointed out the the markings on the roadway where clearly in the exit lane which she argued that it was still trailer space even through it was past the lane markings but before some faded letter markings that seemed to stretch the whole exit lane. She ended the confrontation with the remark "this is not our problem". I was so furious at that time and felt so helpless that wanted someone to hear and listen that a wanted to call police. I resigned myself to write this and maybe other reviews since it seems that I am on the hook for a U-Haul mistake and treated like I wasinsignificant.

Be honest, got charged for fuel. I left the truck with more fuel than received. Took pictures with your app. But they are missing now. I doubt I will rent from you guys in the future as this feels like a scam.

Disappointing rental experience. Too long of a wait to get trailer although booked on line. Trailer lights worked intermittently. Turned out to be a bad wiring extension harness. I had to fix it at home before travelling with the trailer. I reserved the trailer for 8:00 am. I asked if I could return the trailer after hours. The rep said no. They highlighted on the invoice, the trailer was to be returned at approx 8:15 am (I don’t have the contract in front of me). I woke up early and rushed to return the trailer on time. Found the place didn’t open until 9:00. I had no choice but to use the mobile app. Very slow and cumbersome. I’ve rented from this branch many times before. With this bad experience I may go elsewhere the next time I need equipment. Perhaps thus branch is under new ownership or management?

Locations personnel were kind and helpful while customer service agents were unhelpful. They also refuse to take agency of their third party movers that damaged my belongings and arrived over an hour late. Proving your own movers may eliminate this disconnect and unsatisfactory experience.

Pick up was disorganized and understaffed. I had to wait a very long time for one person qualified to hook a trailer up. It's Friday and you have many reservations. Staff up. Easy fix. Plus the guy darted off to use his phone when it was my turn. Extremely frustrating.

The personnel in the yard were excellent. They were professional attentive and assisted in attaching the trailer. There was sometimes a delay, getting served due to their only being one person at the front desk, but this is a minor issue. I was treated attentively and with respect which I appreciated. First thing the trailer I rented for 2 weeks was poorly maintained. The pins that lock the the tailgate I had to oil them as I could not remove the pins. The Jack stand crank was so bad I could not crank it to lift trailer it off my truck , I had to use my pump jack to the lift the trailer off. Also lack of proper tools & to remove the hitch [ nobody knew what a pipe wrench was ] The women supervisor at 3rd line heard me mention about inadequate tools reprimanded me by stating WE have all of the tools we need. As well I had to go to my mechanic to remove 3.5 ball for 2' ball. twice...I was not impressed with the person whom I turned the trailer into & asked if these were maintained as they were not.

Very disappointing. Smallest truck rented, for one hour, and travelled 6km. and it cost over 81 dollars ?! All the extra add on costs (travel fee, safe trip fee, etc) was just goughing. I have rented a larger truck for 2 hours and travelled further, and it didn't cost me this much. This location is ripping off. Would NOT recommend.

first they sent me to a wrong location , and then it took almost 2 hours in a line up to get the truck that i reserved a week prior..and when I took it back they charged me $35 for gas even though I had pictures of the gas gauge and gas receipt showing that there was more gas in it than when I picked it up and then on top of that they charged a $30 service charge . as far as Im concerned this is a scam I would never recommend this company

I had a very negative experience with a customer service representative at a U-Haul location. The CSR accused me of lying about not hearing my manager’s instruction to check in online. In reality, I was not in line when the manager gave this instruction, so I couldn’t have heard it. Being falsely accused of dishonesty is unacceptable and completely damaged my trust in U-Haul. Additionally, the CSR used American terminology by asking “what is your zip code” instead of the correct Canadian term “postal code.” U-Haul operates in Canada and should train staff to use appropriate Canadian terminology. This shows a lack of attention to Canadian customers.

I wouldn't blame the location but the overall experience was horrible. 50 mins almost to get the keys. Online check-in process didn't work and then slow moving line. Called the help number while waiting in line and they did something that worked. Staff at the location couldn't find the location. Sent me to different areas twice. Fuel provided didn't even get me to my destination 20km away. Believe this is done as a trick because I have to estimate how much to put in. Returned higher than I got. I would strongly caution anyone against renting from this location. This was not just poor service- it was hostile, horrifying, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. Anyone who still uses this location should document everything, keep all paperwork, inspect the equipment before leaving, and record interactions openly. Renting a trailer should not require that level of self-protection, but this location felt less like a professional business and more like a clique-like bully environment where staff protect each other, escalate conflict, and turn on the customer. I have rented from U-Haul many times over the years. This was my first time using this location, and it was by far the worst and most horrifying customer service experience I have ever had. I have very serious concerns about the manager, Asmita Bakashi. I arrived with my reservation already completed through my U-Haul account and simply asked to keep the reservation as-is so the pickup could proceed quickly. Instead, the desk agent turned a routine rental into an ordeal. She insisted on re-asking questions already answered in my account, refused to rely on the information on file, and then claimed she had to call my alternate contact number to “verify” it despite my providing government ID and a valid credit card authorization. When I became frustrated with the unnecessary delay, the staff escalated the situation instead of de-escalating it. Multiple employees got involved, ganged up on me in clique-like manner, told me I needed to apologize, tried to humiliate me, and even told me to take a “15-minute timeout” like I was a child. Only after I stated that I was recording the conversation did they finally proceed with the rental. The manager showed no customer service or de-escalation skills. Her role as manager should have been to calm the situation, resolve the issue, and get a longtime U-Haul customer on the road. Instead, she appeared defensive, escalatory, and more interested in aligning staff against me than solving the problem. It felt as if she believed the customer was there to serve her, not the other way around. Based on this experience, I do not believe she has any business being in a customer-facing management role. The trailer then turned out to be unusable. After driving roughly 1.5 hours to my destination, I opened the trailer door and could not close it again. The door appeared to have gone too far up and became stuck. I could not use the trailer at all and had to drive all the way back with the trailer door open. When I returned, the lot employee immediately blamed me before any meaningful inspection. He said I opened it wrong and referenced that I had “made a scene” earlier, even though he had not been present for the interaction inside. That was extremely strange and troubling. It appeared that staff had discussed me and prejudged me before I even returned with the equipment problem. The lot employee’s response made it seem as though he had already been primed to blame me rather than inspect the defective or unusable trailer. Inside, Asmita Bakashi and the staff again ganged up on me in a clique-like manner, blaming me rather than addressing the fact that the trailer was unusable. I repeatedly asked them to show me where the trailer, the contract, or any rental instruction said the door had to be opened in a special way or that the latch had to be in a certain position. Instead, they kept absurdly saying that because I had rented trailers before, I “should have known.” If a U-Haul trailer door can become stuck and unusable during ordinary operation, that is an equipment, maintenance, or instruction failure- not a customer-service excuse. A renter should not need secret knowledge to open and close a trailer door. This location wasted hours of my time, provided unusable equipment, humiliated me at the counter, blamed me without evidence, and then tried to turn the entire issue into a complaint about my “attitude” rather than their failed process and failed equipment. I have opened a case with U-Haul corporate. I would strongly caution anyone against renting from this location. This was not just poor service — it was hostile, horrifying, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. Anyone who still uses this location should document everything, keep all paperwork, inspect the equipment before leaving, and record interactions openly. The truck had only 1/4 tank of gas. So to make sure we had enough gas we put in to 3/4. We used 1/4. They said their policy is they keep the rest of the gas and do not give any money back. MANY HAVE COMPLAINED. If I rent a car, it has a full tank, and I return it the same way. It is impossible to figure out how much to put in for the distance I need. So, with each rental they get let's say 10% more gas back. Multiply over all the trucks every day and they make a lot off this policy at the cost of clients. Its liker a hidden bonus for them. This happened at the Oakville Ontario location. BECAREFUL OF THIS TYPE OF SIDE INCOME GENERATOR. RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE TO AVOID UNJUST INCOME GENERATOR POLICIES.

I was not communicated that the CDW was applied during my rental even though i asked to have Optional CDW coverage waived/opt out. When I questioned, they said it’s mandatory but the u-hail website mentions it’s optional and hence I have requested to be re-imbursed for the CDW coverage that I had requested not to be added.

There were no issues with the facility itself. Cannot comment on the staff as there was no interaction - which leads me to expressing my annoyance that, according to posted signage, the check-in process could be completed only via the app. I could and did do this but I find it annoying that the process has been effectively downloaded to the customer. Also, not related to either location is my consternation as to why I had to book/pay for a truck for 48 hours when I could have returned it within 12.

I had a great experience with U-Haul Oakville south service rd location . The customer service is excellent. I had to rent a truck a few times for my move out of town, and each time they were very accommodating. They even offered me a free month of storage, which helped me a lot during the transition. I really appreciate the support from the manager who arranged a 20 ft truck for me during a very busy time. They had run out of my original booking, but they adjusted things and gave me a discount to make sure my emergency was taken care of. Thank you to everyone at U-Haul Oakville. You are a great team. I highly recommend this location.

I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life at this U-Haul storage facility. I arrived last night after hours, only to discover that the storage unit assigned to me was not available. I ended up wasting 2 and half hours trying to reach support to fix the issue, and no one was able to help me. Completely unacceptable. This wasn’t even the first problem. During the booking process, the staff was already rude. A girl from the office called me while I was waiting in line, and while I was speaking, she cut me off mid-sentence to talk to another customer and said, “Can you help him?” to another team member, completely ignoring me. Very unprofessional. Because my unit wasn’t available and I live in an apartment with no space to keep a truck overnight, I had no choice but to call support and inform them I was leaving the truck in the loading/unloading bay—at least there are cameras there. I had no other option. I then drove back at 6:30 AM the next morning just so I could be at the office right when they opened at 7 AM. When I asked the same staff member about why this happened, he simply said the unit “showed available in the system” and admitted he didn’t even check if it actually was. I explained the trouble I went through the night before, and instead of apologizing, he casually said he was “ready” for whatever his manager would tell him. No apology. No accountability. Nothing. The level of incompetence, carelessness, and lack of customer service at this location is shocking. I strongly recommend avoiding this facility. There are plenty of other storage options—don’t put yourself through the frustration I experienced.

The loading bays were full of opened storage boxes and looked like people ravished thru them. Also the bays doors did not automatically open like they use to. Also lobby was nothing but full of junk (mattresses, clothing etc). I used to think how clean the facilities were until this.

I would have given you. 5 star rating had the bathroom in the storage are not been in the state it was in. Obviously no one regularly checks the bathroom as it was plugged and very smelly and appeared to have been like that for some time. Otherwise the experience was extremely positive. Could not get into the building because the door was broken. No phone number listed anywhere to call for uhaul. Security company wouldn't help me get in. Connected me with uhaul. They couldn't help. Called the GM who didnt pick up. No solution other than come back tomorrow. Next morning the staff was still not aware the door was broken. They opened the door manually. I asked the manager to call me at some point during the day and left my card. No one called. Ramp and loading area was terrible with lots of bumps and badly designed entrance. First time ever using self storage because you gave me a free month. Not impressed.

From the moment I needed the unit to the day I moved out it was one of the easiest, simplistic processes. I had a problem with the unit where sawdust was coming in from a project happening beside it, I was given a refund for my month and they quickly fixed the top to close the opening. A chaotic day due to power cuts at U-Haul. Initially I stayed at the reception area for 45 minutes and then left as nobody could do anything. Returned a few hours later to find that there was still no power. However Serena E did an excellent job of checking me in using per personal mobile phone, allocating me a storage unit, setting up auto monthly payments, etc. She did an excellent job !!

**** FIVE STAR RATING I couldn't have asked for better service or pricing from U-Haul. My neighbour recommended Woody Rd. Uhaul who has many units within the facitiy. I was able to get a free months storage when I had to switch from one unit to another. U-Hual made my move much easier. I would definately recommend them to anyone. The several staff members we interacted with were not friendly. However Craig at head office was amazing. Not having Apple Pay is extremely frustrating and you need to update your systems.

The staff is super helpful , very effective in all aspects this location is very clean. They always have cleaning staff on site, day and early evening. Horrible at nothing and security it top notch!! Police were present on the last visit i had at this location. So security is taken seriously here. This eye opener makes a renter feel safe about there personal items and safety. I would recommend friends and family 10/10 times , i give this location 5 stars

several months several times the door wasn’t opening for me I called customer service waiting hours in line as office not open that time I reached front office next day, they weren’t know why it didn’t open last night, thought some technical problems Next time if I were lucky it opens, again on random day it doesn’t work. Until my move out date, I wasn’t aware I don’t have access after 10pm Why I wasn’t told day 1 ubox also sucks, when I wanted to access, they forgot to bring to front. The hallways were well lit when activated . The unit I was given 1775 was well positioned, secure , monitored and well supplied with carts and moving aids. It would have been nice to have interior unit lighting . Otherwise great .

though the storage activity went very well, accept, I was told that a lock will be in the storage unit and had to go back to the front again to tell them that there was no lock there ?? This should have already been confirmed that everything was in place, Check list should be created before new tenant moves in automatically. The booking of Moving labour was a disaster and had to cancel my rental truck as the moving company hired thru the U haul web site at the last minute, called and did not meet the original plan saying that the people had no drivers license and no moving equipment and was only booked for 2 hours but it would take them 5 hours by bus to get to location and ask for 350 dollars extra, so I canceled them, and had to hire another company 4 hours before the actual move, Very terrible and stressful experience using the Moving Labor tab on the U haul web site

I was not aware there was a different tier of service for 24 hour access. This option was not offered to me when I first acquired the locker. I would have got 24 hour access. It put me in an awkward situation when I was at the locker late one night. Facility is spotless though and well secured. Would definitely recommend.

No lock in second unit - staff were quick to add the second. What's the point of checking in online ... When it all has to be be done in person anyway? Police rolled through after hours as another customer had "checked in" through the app, only for the alarms to go off....the check in really needs to be streamlined.

The Oakville location on the South Service Road is easily accessible from several streets. Staff courteous and helpful. Storage area easily accessible. Aisles well lit and clean. Washroom very clean. There two staff working. A man and a woman. The woman (who told me on the phone that I had to be there 30 min before office hours ended) handled my paperwork and it look less than five min. After telling her that I’ve never rented a storage unit before, she told me what my passcode was and sent me on my way. Told me there was an elevator right as you walk in and that I was easy to find. I then tried to access the facility with my passcode with no success. After multiple failed attempts, I went back in and asked for help. The man came to help and he explained that I needed to put my passcode in two different things in a specific order, before I could enter. Then I entered the facility and walked around for a while looking for an elevator and couldn’t find it. I checked the map, and the elevator seemed to be in a different part of the building and on the opposite end. We then had to ask the man for help again and he was patient with us as he told us that we needed to drive the Uhaul truck around the building to the other side to access this area and my unit. In conclusion, the man was very helpful after the woman did very little to explain anything to me. It was a long day moving and at least half the staff was willing to help.

The only problem I had was the app’s offer of a rent free month if you rent a truck wasn’t being honoured. At the location they said they’ve had that problem before. U Haul corporate should fix that issue. Either don’t offer it, or honour it. Otherwise it could be regarded as false advertisement

Staff member was utterly useless. More interested in her phone than helping me. After I rented my unit she just handed me a map and didn't even circle the location. She should have also directed me to the location. Didn't care. She also should have gone over the sign in and signed out instructions as well. I ended up setting off the alarm. On a positive note the storage facility was clean, well lit and I was impressed with the check in/check out feature once I figured that out.

The staff was very pleasent and professional as well they provided a better alternative with the truck rental since I have a time sensitive matter that needed a truck asap and at first I reserve a 10" truck but it was only available for 12 hours which they suggest to get a 15" truck which was available and could have the 24 hours rental time which was great for me as well it had the built in ramp too so made moving my stuff much easier and didn't have to rush bc had the extra time. As well I was able to get the one month of free storage since I rented the truck so very happy about that and would highly recommend Uhaul!!

I was in a desperate situation; after driving 20 hrs, I finally arrived the U-Haul location in Oakville, there were 3 guys and they all said that nobody is going to unload my car from the trailer. A person loaded my car to trailer in Alabama without any hesitate. Also, It was a big frustration for me that, on top of all the tiredness, no one tried to help and acted indifferently, as if they were trying to get rid of it. You guys have to change your attitude!

The after hours to access storage is very difficult. The front counter guy gave us instructions on how to enter after hours but was unsuccessfully and a waste of our time and gas. Also, getting a hold of someone at this location is unheard of. It is done thru a call centre (remotely). Leaving a message to Call Centre to get this location to return my phone call was unsuccessfully as well. Newly renovated storage facility at this location was very clean and secured.

Original person I dealt with was very helpful and knowledgeable. The day I went in to arrange the unit the person in the rental office was not overly familiar with the storage rental process. The process ended up taking an hour which included several phone calls to a supervisor. Actual sign in and out procedures for unit were not fully explained - was not told that we needed to sign out on the keypad after leaving. Got it done in the end. Unit is perfect. Just recommend that experienced staff should be available. Felt quite sorry for the gentleman in line behind me as no one else was available to help him.

Check in was excellent, but lack of communication and follow up when canceling storage unit was beyond poor. I still have yet to recieve any type of confirmation email that is been canceled. They verified my email and it is correct. Several emails went unresponded to and after over a week of radio silence, I had to call them to get the cancellation processed before they charged my card.

I made an online reservation for a 5x5 storage space at 79.95 CAD . when I arrived there, the staff told me that it's on second floor and I asked to see elevator and troy are available or not and he said, yes. Therefore I confirmed that it's okay for me . he said that also one space available at ground floor and changed my reservation to that. till now everything is okay but at the end I found that the rent of this pace is higher than second floor and he didn't mention anything about it. I know that it's just $5 and not a big money but exactly I chosen that warehouse and location based on the price. anyway, I realized this price different after I already dropped my items at the storage space and I was lazy to ask them to change my contract again to second floor and I move again all items to second floor.
