Your mobile check in process is a hassle, and asks for a lot of spontaneous information, a lot of which I had already provided at the time of reservation. Also your check in process is obnoxiously pushy about completely useless add ons that I have already declined when making the reservation. What is even the point of asking me upfront if you're just going to push and push and push some more? It wastes my time and makes me far less likely to consider UHaul worth the hassle in the futureCourtney S.

INCREDIBLE 5-STAR SERVICE AND SUPPORT. They had my order in full, ready for pick-up with nothing unavailable. Further, they kindly and professionally showed me how the vehicle trailer connects and loads my vehicle. The U-Haul worked without problems the entire 1760-mile journey. You didn't ask the right questions in your survey. We scheduled a 15' truck for pickup near our home. You changed it to a place near downtown Detroit (extra 20 minute drive each direction for us). We agreed to the change. Someone from the Detroit place called me to confirm. After brief discussion, we agreed on a 3:00 PM pick-up. We arrived at about 3:10, and the place was closed. After some strange phone conversations with people at your 800 number, we were told we could get a truck in Westland, MI, a second 35 minute drive in the wrong direction. We did get a truck there, and the rest of the trip went as intended. You wasted over an hour and a half of both my wife's and my time. As you well know, time is usually tight during moving events. Around 11:50 I received a nasty voicemail from this location asking where I was and when I would be there because their customer was there for the pickup of that truck. I called back and after being on hold for 15 minutes was transferred to another store which I explained I dropped the truck off at 10:00 and not sure why they were calling. I've rented here before and the dispatch folks are awesome, in fact the center had lost power that morning but they were still able to provide me my reserved vehicle!! However, the following items were personally very disappointing ....... the interior cab area could have been slightly cleaner, nothing awful just saying. During walk around at pick-up, the driver information center indicated oil change was needed (3%) and that the left rear tire was low. I had an attendant check the tire before leaving the Uhaul center, underinflated 20psi. The center had lost power that morning so I had to run it to Belle tire where I inflated all four tires to the proper setting. Also the left blinker was not functioning and acting (fast flicker on dash) like the bulb needed to be replaced. All things that given I have a higher level of patience than most really should not happen. And the tire/blinker issues both safety items! The check-in upon return was flawless!MICHAEL LYNN F.

The 26 foot truck I rented was in terrible shape. I have back pains due to the horrible (non-existent) shocks on the truck. I think the rough ride was also the cause of one of our TVs shattering - it was protected and wrapped in padding but the screen still shattered. The location in Westland was fine - but I would NOT rent another U-Haul truck again given the poor condition it was in.MATTHEW EVAN V.

I want to make one thing clear; the front desk staff/customer service people were excellent. However I don't know whether it is their responsibility or the maintenance persons to inspect tires before they rent a truck out to a customer for a 600 mile drive. I picked up my truck, in a hurry due to moving stress. The staff was friendly and courteous in getting me on the road quickly with a truck. I did the quick link to look over photos of the truck. Didn't note anything major. Obviously there is nothing asked about tires. After getting it home and spending an entire day loading it we got on the road for our long full day trip. Half way through that trip a DOT enforcement officer at a rest area approached me and stated he saw how terribly worn and unsafe the front â€œsteerâ€ tires were on my U-Haul. He indicated it was entirely unsafe and advised me to either get ir corrected before driving the rest of my trip or at least drive at reduced speeds to prevent a blow out or losing control if the tire did blow. Being in northern Michigan my cell phone signal was intermittent at best. So my wife and I finished the last 275 miles taking a different route going much slower and being very un easy and worried. Further, my wife was very late to work due to our delays. I will say that the following morning when I emailed roadside service I was very happy that Patricia understood my concern and was able to get the tires replaced in my driveway before I had to drive another 105 miles to return it to the U haul Location. My main concern is that this truck was not very well inspected if something very obvious and very serious. I assumed such an item would be high priority when a truck is about to go out on a long one way trip. Someone clearly dropped the ball or passed the buck on this and it put my wife in I in danger, delayed out trip, and caused her issue with work. Please fix your mobile app. It keeps rejecting valid photos and wasting time. Took me more than half an hour to complete my check in process. I was lucky that the office was still open when i brought the truck back, because the mobile app failed again. It would not accept any photo of the dashboard (odometer and fuel level) and I had to go to the office to turn in the truck.Dmitri B.

I was supposed to pick up in novi feed at 9 a.m. but my trailer wasn't there called customer service and they told me to go to Westland but they double booked my trailer and I didn't get it until almost 4 p.m. the whole experience was rather stressful and I wasted time and gas. I had a reservation since July to pick up a 15ft van at a certain location in Ann Arbor MI on August 14th. Upon my arrival to pick up the van, I learned my reservation was not available as Uhaul did not contact me the day before to confirm equipment availability. Using the 800 number they located me another van that was 30 miles the other way from where I was headed so that cost me about 2 hours of time I really didn't have. The 800 operator informed my that the day before they just didn't get to me to confirm my reservation. This process doesn't work and needs to be improved. the Westland location is under staffed, stood in line too long. I did a 17foot truck rental, for 24 hours. It turned out that we didn't need it for that long, so I returned it after about 5-6 hours. Estimated that I would use 25 miles only used 22-23 and still paid $6-7 more than the quote? Not totally sure about that â€œpolicyâ€. I know that $6-7 dollars is not a lot of money but it just seemed a bit petty and odd? All of this on top of a $28 â€œTOP OF THE TRUCKâ€ coverage due to the regular coverage only covering the base of the truck? Nice UP SALE! But hey, the A/C worked.kristopher W.

I was not certain the rental vehicle would have navigation. This was not an option listed online for any rental (that I saw). Check in took a very long time, the person who checked me in took the order of a person who came behind me while I waited in the chair waiting to do the paperwork, he told me that the unit had been booked 4 times and had to make sure I could get the unit. Then I was given a reprogrammed used access card. When I get to my unit there is a lien lock and customer lock. The staff were understanding when payments were late after countless shut downs in the area related to Covid after our move to a new city! This is an extremely convenient facility in terms of location. The staff is very friendly. The indoor, drive-in garage access was great for secure loading and unloading. Unfortunately, I had several issues with my unit(s). The first unit reeked of urine and had dried urine stains on the floor. There was no way I could place my items there. Upon reporting this, the staff immediately switched me to another unit. The second appeared clean and was in a location much closer to the loading area. I soon realized the reason why this unit was probably vacant and available. A few days after a major rainstorm, I picked up a few items to find they were soaked and the floor of the unit was wet. I looked up to find that there were two large holes in the ceiling directly over my unit and the rain came in through the roof on top of my items. I reported this immediately and was told to take pictures of the damage for my records and that a manager would call me. Another week went by and I had not heard from anyone. I went back to the store and again was told a manager would call me. Two days later, I called the location. Someone from the call center(?) answered and stated that the store was swamped, but that they would place notes in the system and have someone contact me. Finally, after moving everything out, I once again went inside the store and I was told that there were multiple notes left on my account and the manager would call me. This was a total of four times and I have yet to hear from anyone. This review site specifically asks customers to “Please contact the U-Haul Storage Facility and try to resolve any disputes before leaving feedback”. Unfortunately, I have found that the process requested doesn’t work as I have tried to resolve directly with the store. Went to the Westland facility to rent a storage unit as we had received a free month after renting a uhaul trailer. The guy that waited on me said there wasn't a reservation in my name. Went to my car to grab my phone to show him the email confirmation. When I returned, he was waiting on another customer. I moved to the next window. The lady pulled my reservation up immediately. The reservation proceeded and we purchased a lock. The lady waiting on me asked the male employee to make sure the storage unit had been swept out. He left the counter and never returned. The female employee walked me thru the steps of using the key card upon entering and leaving the unit. Still, the male employee didn't return to let us know the unit was ready. We decided to drive to the unit with our storage and found that there were 3 locks on the door. Clearly the male employee never checked the unit to make sure it was swept out. We went back to the office to be told that someone checked into that unit by mistake and that there were no other units available. We were refunded the cost of the lock and left since the female employee wasn't willing to assist us in locating another unit to rent at another facility. As I left the building, I noticed the male employee pacing back and forth in the garage while talking on his cell phone. Obviously, he had a personal situation to take care of rather than doing his job. We did find another facility that had storage available, however, they were unwilling to accept the free month of storage that we should of had at the Westland facility. I reserved a storage unit online then when I went in on my move in date. I was informed that size never existed at that location. So I was frustrated because I ended up having to size up a unit and pay more. The staff I was working with was not helpful at all.
