Walkers Staff were great so nothing this time but I did recently rent an auto transporter and the Uhaul in Creston, BC, was horrible. Staff were not helpful and auto transporter was not available as promised.

We rented a 6x12 foot trailer ($404) and insured a friends truck to tow it (for $300). Two days before picking up our rental U-haul told me that the trailer was not there but rather 1.5 hours north in Courtney. It didn't fit my schedule to pick up the trailer so they gave us a 20ft truck for $695 Instead. We then had to switch our ferry reservations (40$) pay for the truck insurance that we weren't going to use ($300) and be expected to pay $295 more than what we expected for the U-haul trailer. I am very upset with Uhaul. I understand that things happen but this change should not have been at our expense. A move is stressful enough as is, and now we have been charged an extra $650+ for a mistake that wasn't ours. I have been in contact with U-Haul and they said they would be calling me back but it's been 3 days and I have heard nothing. This is unacceptable and I expect to get my money back.

When I arrived to pick up this vehicle, I was assured that the vehicle was full of fuel. The needle was in the area of the "F" when I turned on the ignition. However, when I refuelled in Chilliwack, the needle went well beyond the "Full" mark. In my estimation, I have been swindled out of about 30 litres of fuel at $1.50 per litre. It is obvious to me that whoever checked the vehicle in from the previous renter did not pay proper attention to the fuel guage. Whoever that person was, they knew, or should have known, where the needle would rest when the tank is full. The person checking the vehicle out was rushed and did not spend any time going over the operation of the vehicle. I had to insist that we check the condition of the roof with the door closed before leaving as we were moving furniture and did not want it to get wet. Also, I did not want to be accused of damaging the roof at check-in upon arrival at Kelowna. I was very disappointed in the way we were treated.

John Walker at Walkers Saw Shop is very knowledgeable in the process of renting equipment from U-Haul. He walks you through the entire electronic process of renting equipment. Once completed, John personally connects the trailer to ensure that it is done correctly and is safe and ready to go. He even completes a 'light check' on the combination vehicle before driving away. Walkers Saw Shop is a pleasure to deal with.

The vehicle that I reserved was not there. Only after several calls to Uhaul was I able to sort out and get a vehicle. It may not have been the fault of Walker Saw Shop but I felt that I was a 'problem' for them that they didn't want to deal with.

Clean the vehicle exterior to ensure condition can be determined. Spend time ensuring customers that vehicle condition is of will be noted in the file. Inform customers that 15' or greater trucks will be classified as commercial vehicles on BC Ferries. This cost me twice as much for a ferry fare over the 10' truck I wanted in my initial reservation.

However the first location I went to at 4401 Boban Drive in Nanaimo BCwas terrible, the young man behind the desk was rude and disrespectful and could of cared less if he rented me a trailer or not and plainly said that I will never go back there. I went to one on Magarigale rd in Nanaimo he was very helpful and curtious they did not have a trailer to rent me but sent me to Walkers saw shop where I picked up the trailer and had very curtious service.
