How U-Haul Reviews WorkI have been storing trailers for about 12 years at U-Haul and have ALWAYS been very pleased. I will mention that up until about 2 or 3 years ago there were some things that could have been a lot better -- for example there was LOTS of trash scattered around the vehicle storage area. But then came some changes in management and things really improved. The current manager - whose name I've forgotten just now - has been GREAT to work with. The fact that the area is covered is a HUGE help. I had stored a trailer in a different place without cover and I could have baked cookies inside on sunny days. And having electricity available for a few hours every day makes it very easy to maintain battery charge. I'll no longer be storing trailers there -- age has caught and trampled me -- but I will be using some of their equipment as I move to the next stage of my life. Y'won't be making a mistake if you use their services.

Daniel G | Overall ExperienceThe whole experience from start to finish was frustrating. It started because I tried to rent a truck and trailer for my move. Made the reservation several weeks in advance and got an email saying “my reservation is confirmed.” Less than 24 hours before my pickup time, this facility called to let me know I’d have to drive 2 hours to a different facility to get the trailer. When I asked why they confirmed my reservation, they rudely said that “it’s actually not a reservation but a request and we won’t know if we can fill it until the day before.” This was not disclosed and so frustrating because my husband and I were set to move 800 miles away and were hoping to leave immediately after packing the truck. The trailer was to tow our spare vehicle (we have 3 and my husband had already driven one out and flown back. I was going to follow him while he drove the truck/trailer, we live away from family and have no help). Between meeting movers and all the other craziness of moving, we didn’t have time for the extra travel to go get the trailer. This move was meticulously planned and Uhaul let me down. The truck rental package we purchased offered us a free month of storage (I think this is standard) so we put our vehicle in the rv storage and planned to return later to get it. I asked if it was possible to get a discount on my truck rental for the inconvenience of my canceled trailer reservation and they said there was nothing they could do. After having our vehicle there for less than a month, the facility called to let me know someone broke my window and I needed to come secure my vehicle. This sent me into a panic as I was 800 miles away and could not just run over to do this. Turns out the maintenance person broke the window while weed whacking (it was the middle of a parking lot so how that happened I have no idea). They told me I needed to file a claim with both of our insurance companies. When I tried to do so my insurance company told me it was u-hauls fault and I couldn’t file a claim. I still don’t know why I had to file an insurance claim for them with their company, feels like that should be their job. After a lot of back and forth, and overnighting my key to them, they did secure my vehicle and fix it. However I had to bug them to return my key. They only offered me one free month for the inconvenience. Upon returning to collect my vehicle, I found that they have a lot of birds nests in the covered parking and my car was completely covered in poop. It was only there for about 6 months and it was foul. When I went to check out I asked to speak to a manager about an invoice question. The same manager who had helped me through my window issues said she’d come down but then sent someone else who didn’t seem informed. I didn’t want to start an issue so I closed my account and left. Anyways, that’s the story of how u haul canceling my trailer reservation cost me an extra $2000 and a few panic attacks ($360 in storage fees, $600 in travel fees and $1000 to have the vehicle shipped by another company). All of this could’ve been avoided if they had better customer support in the first place. Every person I dealt with in this facility was poorly trained. If you can find somewhere else to go, do that.
