The trailer license plate light was missing, and the wires were frayed. The renting rep wasn't aware of this. I requested a note to my rental agreement about the light and wires. Upon returning another rep indicated she knew about the broken light for a while and the 'district rep' hadn't come in to fix it. The trailer was registered in NY, the rental was in NH. While NH has stopped compulsory inspections, NY has not. U-Haul can and should do better and uphold NY law if they choose to register there... have the equipment properly inspected/maintained/serviced for use.

What a surprisingly good uhaul experience. The staff was terrific. The van was clean and worked beautifully.

JOHN SFirst and foremost, the staff did a great job. That being said, the truck I reserved was not returned by the previous user. The staff was able to get me into another truck; however it was not available for the entire time slot I asked for originally and. I offered to return it afterhours just so I would have something to work with. I was happy to do that to make it work for everyone, but I didn't know I would be charged an additional $20 by making this gesture. After I was flexible in a horrible moment, it felt a bit underhanded to charged this fee.
