Although the person working at this convenience store clarified the reasoning for some of the problems, it was still very irritating to have to deal with this location. The worker initially told me I can come pick up the keys for my truck a day before before 6pm and when I came at 4:30pm, the truck was already rented out to someone else and I had to wait until the next day (which is when my booking was made for). When I came the next day around the time the store was to be opened, the door was locked and when I called the worker said they had to get the keys to the store or something similar. I had to wait for an additional 10-15 minutes to get my truck which was also annoying because I had people waiting for me already to arrive with truck. When I tried to raise this concern with the worker, he tried to undermine it saying that you should be more forgiving. Additionally, I did not feel comfortable going into a store that had pipes used for cannabis and sometimes even contained pipes used for crack cocaine/meth. I came with my children one time and it was a very disturbing experience. I will only recommend proper U Haul locations as opposed to these smaller retainers going forward.

I experienced a problem at the time of delivery. The rented 10-foot truck became stuck in the snow. The company then provided me with a 15-foot truck, which also became stuck, and it took nearly half an hour to get it out. Because of this truck change, I was unable to properly complete the check-in and check-out process and was only able to scan my driver’s license before leaving the location. I returned the truck after 1.5 hours, having driven only 5 miles, yet I was charged for 17 liters of fuel, approximately CAD 30. I contacted customer service three times but did not receive a satisfactory response.
meysam fEnsure that the odometer is set to miles to make it easier to use the U-Haul digital app.
Nadine HI had no issues with the location itself, and the staff member who helped me was good. My issues are with U-Haul or whoever arranged this rental. First, my pickup location was changed without informing me. While that was inconvenient, I managed to adjust. The bigger problem started when I received the truck. I was given a rear-wheel-drive truck in –25°C weather in Edmonton, and on top of that, the truck did not have winter tires. This made it extremely difficult and unsafe to drive. I managed to get the truck home, but there were several rough moments along the way due to skidding. I assumed it might be happening because the truck was empty. After parking and unloading, I tried to move the truck again, but the tires would not grip at all and just kept skidding on ice. Despite my best efforts, the truck would not move. I went to Canadian Tire and spent $120 on different items to try to get the truck unstuck, but none of it worked. Eventually, I had to call a towing company, which cost me around $300 and resulted in four hours completely wasted. After the tow, I tried driving again and only managed to go about three blocks. It was a complete nightmare just getting the truck back to return it. I didn’t even stop for fuel because I was afraid the truck would get stuck again and cost me even more money. I understand being charged for fuel, but I genuinely wanted to refill it. Given how unsafe and unreliable the truck was, stopping felt like too big a risk. If it had gotten stuck in the middle of the road, who would have taken responsibility? At the end, I made sure everything was checked with the location’s representative, and he confirmed that everything was fine before I returned the truck. Overall, this was the worst experience of my life with U-Haul, and it was extremely stressful, unsafe, and costly.
Keshav SThey didn’t have the furniture pads that I called twice to confirm they had. I had to go to another location to get some.
