The online reservation is easy however it allowed me to book a location that was closed -- so already the website is not updated. But, a phone call the next day from Uhaul directed me to a location that was nearest me that would be open the day of pick up. Completing the pre registration was time consuming. And a call to customer service indicated that some of my info that I entered was not in the system. I was told that I did not enter it. Every personality at Uhaul is different. Unfortunately I needed to speak to 6 people with regard to this rental. Also because I selected "self-pick up using my cell phone" there was 30 minutes spent over the phone to the location manager who wasnt there AND the customer service # to register even further and to refresh our browser every time we entered some info so that we could go to a lock box surrounded by bushes at the entrance of the lot to retrieve the keys and then search around 4 dumpsters to find the dollies. All told spent about 2.5hrs on this reservation when it could have been 30 min or less . Ridiculously complicated online pick up which isvtotally not wirth your time. Just go to the counter and dont enter more data than necessary.

I was changed a fuel fee, i took pictures and miles of the dash when i picked up ( gas light was on) i returned it with more gas that it had , and still charged me for gas
NOE CHi U-Haul, I went to pickup a 20ft truck for a work event we were transporting some gear for. After spending about 30 mins getting through the card approval process the person helping us left for and extended period of time, he came back and let us know that they didn’t have the key to the truck that we were supposed to rent. He spent another 10ish mins trying to accommodate a different U-Haul to rent a 20ft truck from he suggested that we took the 26ft truck instead. Desperate to have a truck for this event we took that option and left back for our event. We were at the pickup location for well over an hour. Having a 26ft truck instead of the 20ft cascaded into a number of different issues that we hadn’t planned for. We weren’t able to park the truck in the lot of the hotel forcing use to leave it at the event site and take Ubers back and forth. Also, the 26ft truck was not able to be dropped off at the location a block from the second event and forced us to drive across all of Hayward to drop off and then uber back to the hotel. It also cost more in gas driving up to Hayward. TLDR: the 26ft truck option lead us to pay a bunch of additional cost. All in all it forced us to take three extra uber rides, it cost more in gas to drive the 200+ miles, and we missed an hour of the event trying to sort it all out. This was a nightmare and I will really consider looking at reviews for U-Haul locations I use in the future these experiences were not at all equal.
