JAY CAbsolutely Terrible Experience – Never Using U-Haul Again I reserved a truck to pick up in Montague, CA for a Monday move — just 12 miles from my new house. Come Friday evening, I get an email saying my truck is now in Mount Shasta — much farther away. I called the Montague U-Haul Saturday morning. They confirmed they had a truck, but it wasn’t driveable (broken brakes, no power steering), so I had to go to Mount Shasta to pick one up. I was told the extra mileage wouldn’t be charged. After doing my move, I tried dropping the truck off at Montague. I called ahead, and the employee suddenly told me I had to return the truck to Mount Shasta — and I was charged extra mileage for doing so. I was misled, overcharged, and treated poorly at every step. U-Haul’s customer service was unhelpful and dismissive. I paid way more than I should have for a frustrating, stressful experience. Never again.
