The issue was less about the pick-up location than U-Haul itself. Although there were 2 things that were not right at the location. The appliance dolly I reserved was not in the vehicle. So, I had to go out of my way to a different location to pick one up. And, the vehicle smelled like cigarette smoke. What was more concerning was the problems caused by the U Haul Company itself. It's pretty telling that there are no questions about your company itself but only the independent dealers as if you only want to hold them responsible and not yourselves. My wife and I drove our own car from our home in Delaware to New Jersey to pick up a U-Haul locally to transport a refrigerator. The problems started when I arrived at the location I selected and which was confirmed to me in my reservation email - Diamond Auto Sales - and was informed they did not have my reservation. The man there was VERY pleasant and helpful and he had a truck that would have worked for me but he did not have an appliance dolly. I did not want to take the truck without being sure I could get a dolly because I had to have the dolly. I called the location where the reservation was mistakenly sent and there was no answer. So we drove to an actual U-Haul facility. On the way, we received a call from U-Haul directing us to the location where my reservation was mistakenly sent. Upon arrival there, I attempted to complete express check in but the system would not accept my driver's license #. I called U-Haul and was told the problem was the assignment had been set for 3:00 PM and it was only 2:36PM. The person reset it for 2:30PM. The express check in system would still not accept my driver's license number. I called back and was verbally checked in over the course of 24 minutes. This included some hold time and time where I provided information I had already provided to U-Haul when I initially made the reservation online. The gentleman did a good job moving the conversation forward given that I was quite upset at that point but there was no empathy expressed for the situation I was dealing with due to U-Haul's failures and no consideration for the inconvenience. He did initially – I believe at my prompting - offer to reduce my rate by $12.99. I explained that would probably not even cover the cost of the additional gas and tolls I would be incurring because I still had to go to a different location to pick up the appliance dolly that was not placed in the vehicle as it should have been. Ultimately, he reduced my rate by $24.99 stating that was the maximum he was allowed to grant. Again, with all the extra driving – now of 2 vehicles and extra tolls (there are many in New Jersey) this barely covered the additional costs were incurring solely due to U-Haul’s failure. So, while I appreciate there was some allowance given, there was no consideration given whatsoever for the major inconvenience caused by U-Haul’s failure to meet your agreement. In addition, b

WE were overcharged for gas fill up and mileage. we need to speak to a rep. We were told we would be able to pick up the truck in CApe may court house where we started our move and ended up having to drive to Marmora from CMCH then take the truck 20 miles South before we started our journey. we also wee given a truck with only half full tank and were charged for a full fillup. we need reimbursement not a voucher for another use because we will not be renting again if this is not corrected. dianne leo 609-287-3521

I had to go to a difference place from where I went to rent the truck in eht to somers point for the truck and then to vineland to get trailer that was a lot time I wasted

The night before my move the location was changed and pick up changed time wise. When I called customer care center for u hall and scheduling I was basically told "too bad nothing can be done". I called point auto and they were able to have it changed back to the agreed location and time. When I received their call I was setting up another company.... point auto saved the day... u haul was uncaring and rude
