The first issue that we had on pickup was that the rear doors of the Uhaul were stuck shut. We tried and the person who rented it tried to get the doors open. Finally a car mechanic came over from the car shop and banged the door enough to get it to open. He then lubricated the door for us and discovered that some of the foam lining the door jam was loose and put that back on for us. This was not the condition we were hoping to find the Uhaul in, but we appreciated their help to get it fixed. When we got to our house after picking up the Uhaul van (about a 10 minute drive), we opened the back doors to find a large trail of ants around the perimeter of the doors. We attempted to clean them out and then loaded. When we got to our destination, there were ants over all parts of the truck. Later we discovered that there was some kind of food left by the previous user of the van which was inside the cab of the van and our bag of overnight clothes, purse, etc were all swarming with ants such that we couldn’t even bring them inside. This Uhaul location parks all of their Uhauls on a dirt/grass surface which means the ants will probably be very hard to get rid of.
