We have had a terrible experience with our past two rentals. We rented a truck 2 weeks ago from Colborne and were called the night before, told it was no longer available, and we would have to drive to Newcastle, which is 50 minutes away. We picked that truck up, and when we got home, it was billowing smoke from the hood, so we had to call to have it towed, which took about 3 hours so we had to cancel the move. We decided to try again and rented another truck this time from a location in Carrying Place. When we arrived, the truck was there. However, the building was abandoned, and we had no way to get the keys. We called U-Haul and were finally able to open the lock box, but the key did not work, so we had to drive to Trenton to pick up a different truck. The second truck was dirty and had dirt all over the floor in the back and empty cans and coffee cups in the cab. We were told we would get a $50 credit for our troubles, but have not seen it.

Started off on the wrong foot right away!!! Truck was NOT full of gas! 26 ft. It was only 1/4 full. I was told just replace the gas you use. When we ran low on gas I had to guess on how much to fill. I didn't calculate correctly for our 3 hr trip. I ended putting $50 too much in. Did I get a credit.....No. Second, I couldn't get the app to work. I couldn't submit a photo of the license plate. I called the number and they texted me a link that didn't work. I couldn't check in at drop off time. I called their number after hours and the customer help associate said there was a computer issue and I would have to call back in the morning. Uhaul's tech system needs an overhaul!! Before the day of the move I had purchased a mattress cover set. On the day of the move we discovered the packaged had been previously opened and someone put the wrong size cover in package which didn't fit our mattress. Also on the day before our move we had misplaced our tape gun. I made it to an authorized Uhaul dealership and purchased a few boxes and a tape gun. They were expensive!! What was even worst was the tape gun didn't work very well and we struggled using it that evening. Next they had offered help by using contracted movers. We were moving an upright full size piano, about 500 lbs. We easily put it on the truck ourselves because there were no steps or tight turns leaving our house. They quoted me on 2 types of help. Uhaul said their movers could help out with a 4 hour min charge for 2 men for $360 dollars. They also quoted moving the piano for $300. These 2 quotes were from different companies. I agreed to the piano movers and said I might use the 2 men on the day of the move-in but it would depend on our volunteer help. On the weekend before we moved in we were contacted by the piano movers who told us that it would be $680 to move the piano. When I objected saying that Uhaul had quoted me, I was told that the $300 was only valid if they were also doing the the 2 men rate. At this point we had enough help. I was stuck!! I didn't want to pay this amount to move the piano up 3 steps in the house and 1 step up into the house and no turns. My son managed to find some friends who came to help us out. When I was working through the issue with Uhaul they said it wasn't there fault because they were only recommending movers. It wasn't their company directly offering their own employed movers. For being an industry leader they have much to improve on. I will avoid using them for any of my rental needs.

Ted RBecause of the change location. I made it there at 4:56. They were closing at five. The gentleman state received. The truck was very courteous and pleasant. Did a full inspection of the truck no drama no complaining. He was awesome.
