Seem d a bit unorganized. I dropped off the rental within my 24 hour rental period. The business was closed. Left a message and no success. Received an email from U-Haul on Monday night with questions about the trailer. Seems the uhaul owner of this business neglected to report the rental was returned. Although the person at this location was very pleasant, by neglecting to follow through doing their job, it took me extra time on the phone, extra rental charges that are now returned back and frustration that could of been avoided. I would like to use them again but need to be reassured corrections will be made.

Nobody was there on posted Saturday hours and I called the number provided and left a message and no one got back to me. I had to call the general u-haul number to grtg permission to leave the trailer without anyone there and to get my contract upgraded. It was a pain. And then I felt I had to take pictures and a video to document the drop off in case there were issues later about whether we really dropped it off.

A voicemail, from the regional Uhaul group in Wisconsin on Saturday 3/31/18, directed me on where/when to drop off the Uhaul truck on my due date 4/1/18 (Easter Sunday). It was explained that, due to Easter, the location would not be open until noon and to drop the truck off them. We were at the location at noon on 4/1/18 and nobody was there to check us in. I called the Uhaul regional number and spoke with Phillip, who directed me to leave the key in the drop box and that he would note that I dropped the vehicle off on schedule. I called the location, Appleton Affordable Auto, on Monday 4/2 to confirm the truck was checked in, which the person did. On Tuesday 4/3, I received the Uhaul receipt that billed my card another $43, claiming the truck was turned in a day late. After contacting numerous Uhaul reps, they confirmed this charge was wrong and began the process of refunding me for the charge. What I find ironic is that I'm told that refund will take 5-7 days to show up in my account, yet when they attempted to refund my initial charge, they claimed it would happen immediately. It's a good thing I knew better than to take the Uhaul reps word for it, otherwise we would have been stuck in Louisiana with no money for travel. In conclusion, I've had some good experiences with Uhaul over the years, so I'm not condemning them across the board. That said, this was a horrible experience from start to finish, please train your reps better or hold your franchises to higher standards.

I've rented many uhaul items in the past, but this was definitely not a great experience. Granted this was a Sunday rental with no reservation, communication between rental locations and customers is terrible! I called 4 locations and all 4 told me there wasn't a trailer available. Fifth location that I called told me they had one, turned out to not be an actual car hauler like I asked about. That was 18 miles out of my way. A call to uhaul customer service informed me of a trailer at the location that I ended up renting from. This location was 9 miles closer to where I was, and just so happened to be one of the first few locations that I called and was told they didn't have one available. The person at this location was frustrated and disorganized and had no clue how to set up the proper tow combination in the computer for the truck that I had. A note in the computer on the equipment stated "trailer damaged, tongue twisted." Not sure what that meant, but was rented to me anyway. Visually appeared ok. Location had no ink in the printer, so no rental papers were provided. Drop off location was said to be at CJs auto, close to my house. A call to uhaul, once again, confirmed that this was also incorrect. The drop off location was a completely different place. I guess the experience boils down to terrible communication and a very frustrated customer in the end.

The preferred drop off location did not show up as an option. This was frustrating because the location I wanted was one that was used just a month prior. However the most frustrating aspect was being charged if I did not use the drop off location noted on the paperwork. Curiously I did not receive a discount for picking up at a location that was not my preferred location. The drop off location is the typical uhaul contractor operating multiple businesses but not doing any one well. Uhaul has great uhaul locations but need to be better a vetting uhaul contractors as most are places I would never enter for their “other services”.
