Ensure there are enough employees to work your busy days (i.e. Saturdays) so that the customers aren't standing around too long. The workers were moving as quick as they could, but only 2 personnel were there during my visit, which was somewhat problematic. I don't feel this issue was worth me down-grading my rating of the location. They did a great job. Thanks!

I had to go this location when the Airline BLVD store did not have the trailer I had reserved (7-9-17). They showed it had arrived on Thursday, but was not on the lot Saturday AM and was not checked out.

a little slow coming to hook-up trailer to truck

Ms Tyeva was very professional at the Portsmouth, Va location. Someone was even rude to her for no apparent reason and she was still professional. Kudos to her.

Better maintenance on the equipment. Several screwds were on the floor and the floor had not been swept out in who knows how longg. The bottom of my boxes were black with ?? and naturally it was transferred to the new carpet upon delivery!!

I was charged $25 more. $15 for insurance I asked to remove before I took the truck. $10 for dolly and pads I did not ask and they did not tell me not to break seal.

There should be a sign outside that says "wait here and an employee will come out to check in your rental", if all of the employees will remain inside while the customer waits in the sun for and must finally go inside to get one of three employees who looked to be doing nothing at all.

Overall, a reservation should mean all the specifics are available and ready for pick-up. Ensure that everything is ready and available.

I was late picking up the vehicle and was told that the truck might have been given to someone else. It turned out that the truck was still available; but had it been given to another renter after I reserved it for the day, I would have been justifiably angry. Renting a reserved vehicle to another due to late arrival is very bad policy. It would be better to charge the credit card if a renter fails to show up and fails to cancel the reservation timely.

The best Customer Service ever

This was my first experience renting a moving truck. Unfortunately for me, the first person I dealt with was Corbin, the store manager. I went to the store to be able to see the trucks and ask questions in person. Corbin was minimally engaged in assisting me and answered my questions with visible annoyance, just clicking the keys of his computer keyboard and barely making eye contact. I told him the location I needed to drive to (125 miles round trip) and asked if that was considered in-town. He responded with "Yep". He did not explain the breakdown of costs, offer rental options or disclose the amount the mileage would cost me driving this distance. After booking the rental I asked if I needed a receipt or confirmation number or anything and I was met with repeated "Nope" answers. No thank you, no anything as I left the store. When I arrived to pick up the truck I dealt with another associate and when she told me the final cost, I was floored. I told her the .99/mile was not disclosed and I was not expecting the rental to be that much. She asked why I didn't rent it one-way since it would be cheaper. I said I didn't know that was an option, as it was almost half the price and I obviously would have done that. I asked her if I could change my reservation to one-way. She asked Corbin, who was sitting next to her and heard our exchange. Without the decency of looking at me or her he responded with "none are available. I asked him why that was not offered to me originally, especially when I explained to him where I was going, what the distance was and asked specifically what my options were. His reply was "I don't remember what I told you". I told him that I did not feel he offered the best service available and that it was his responsibility as a representative of U-Haul to extend a reasonable amount of customer service and because he did not do his job it was now costing me more money than I needed to spend and I planned to contact U-Haul's corporate office to express my displeasure and he responded with "go ahead" without even looking my way. Thankfully, the woman assisting me made some calls and adjusted the mileage costs to lower the cost more in line with a one-way rental, which is what I should have been informed of as a choice in the first place while dealing with Corbin. She was extremely helpful, friendly, informative and accommodating. Everything past that was a pleasurable and positive experience. The truck was clean, well-maintained and easy to use. The drop-off process was streamlined and easy. I would do business with U-Haul again, despite the negative attitude and poor customer service skills exhibited by Corbin, who should not be representing your name brand.

Clean the trucks i complained about the truck in columbia mo noone seemed to care

The first truck was infested with roaches!!! I immediately returned the vehicle, received a new one, the time i missed was re-added to my account, and i had an over all pleasant experience after that first vehicle. Always check your vehicle before you load anything, bang on the walls, and hit it with bug spray to kick them up. They are great at hiding go seek, im greater!

Get rid of old equipment. Auto transport used was a rust bucket. The richet system to hold straps was malfunctioning. The straps worn or torn. The ramps to transport that were pulled out and would not go back into storage compartment. I've used way better units in the past. Other than that everything else was fine.

This location has always been awesome. I'm normally in a time crunch when I need something and have always been dealt with fairly and quickly.

When I returned it, I was told they didn't have room for it b/c my paperwork said I was returning it to Va Beach & I was in Chesapeake which is 5 min away from Va Beach. After pressing the young man he relented & was very kind to make room for it. Unfortunately, I didn't get any kind of receipt for it so I went inside to a female employee who didn't want to give me a receipt. I insisted she sign SOMETHING so I had proof that it was returned & she scribbled a line on my paperwork that had no resemblance to a signature and proceeded to give me a difficult time when I pressed her for something that would actually prove it was returned.

It was not necessarily a "complaint" with the location. My actual overall experience was not the greatest in the ordering online and speaking with a rep. I called in and I asked, if it was for a set amount of time the rental. She stated no that I would pay based on miles but somehow she marked that I would have the unit back by 11. Which I did not agree to. At the U-Haul location when I stated that I would not, the rep asked me when I would have it back. I stated between 2-3. At 215 I received a call wanting to know where I was with the truck as they had someone else lined up. It made me rush my day which was not something that made the experience ideal.
