The truck had issues pretty much from the start. One, I had to drive 42 miles out of my way to get my truck one way. And since I am doing a military move I had to pay for the gas for the truck to get over to my base load my gear then back to west mercury in Hampton for my autotransporter. Second, when the vehicle loaded and at 55 Mphs per hour the trucks air conditioner and vent went off. The truck was an older truck but sure of been better taken care of. Three out of the last four items I have rented from you all haven't been a good report for me. I will be contacting corporate over these issues since your regional managers here and in the greater Norfolk Hampton area don't seem to care.

Be more friendly and honest. I drove 17 miles. Put 5.2 gallons of gas in less than a mile from return and was still charged 7$ fuel surcharge. no thank you. No was everthing ok. Just sign here. Really need to work on customer satisfaction.

1. I originally called a dealer much closer to me, (Chesapeake dealer was 15 miles away), and that dealer did NOT make it clear that I may have to travel well out of my way to pick up the truck. 2. The truck smelled terrible of BO and cigarette smoke. I had to clean and Fabreze the interior to be able to stand it for my 3 hour trip. 3. The dealer who received the truck in Littleton at the location YOU gave me was not even set up or trained yet. He had NO idea what he was doing. We had to stay to help him find out what to do! So of course he did not go over details with me or he would have caught that I forgot to refill the gas tank. (In the stress of finding the crumby convenience store we were told to drop the truck, and the "dealer's" lack of training and language skills) I over looked that responsibility. Dave Cranston, the field agent agreed to give me a discount because of all the inconvenience in Littleton. Conclusion: it is very doubtful that if I should need a rented truck in the future I will ever use UHaul. I intend never to use or recommend UHaul again.

U-hauls policy is very misleading. I was told when I needed to rent a van, that I had to use a credit card. No problem. I went and picked up the van and my paperwork stated that is was going to put a hold on the estimated total of my rental. No problem. When I returned the van, I assumed that the amount that was put on hold would be used to pay for the rental. Nope. Problem. I was fortunate enough that I had the cash on me to pay for the rental. After calling customer support. It was explained to me that I could not use the hold to pay for the rental. They said For example, if you're paying with a card, there would actually be two charges showing on your statement. One for the hold and one for the payment. So for example, if your rental is $200. You better have $400.This was never explained to me and I believe it to be very deceiving. And now I have to wait for the hold to be put back on my card. I didn't hold their money. Why do they need to hold mine? I will never be using U-Haul again because I feel this was wrong and nobody at U-Haul attempted to try to make it right.

The location and service was great. My only problem is that I felt like I was being ripped off. Rental price for the truck, plus .99 cent charge per mile, plus the cost of filling the gas back to the level received. The .99 cent per mile charge is really the only thing that I had a problem with....I feel it's unnecessary and one of those charges that companies do to consumers just because they know that people will pay. I will definitely explore other options the next time I need the service.
