The whole franchise thing in which anyone can be a U-haul vendor is a horrible idea. The truck was not the one that I ordered on the internet, it was a larger one. I was told on the phone that the location was overbooked and I would be given a 20' truck instead of the 15'. However, I was charged for the 20' truck. The staff was very nice, they just didn't know how to use the rental system web portal and had issues even getting the drop off location setup although I had done everything online. I was then contacted exactly 24 hours after the pick-up by the drop off location stating I missed my window. My issue is, every other time I've rented a truck it was always due by the end of the day on the next day, not 24 hours later. I called the location back only to get someone answering from somewhere else (they didn't even know what time it was where I was at) who explained to me what 24 hours is about 4 different ways. They then explained that I needed to extend for another day and then contact the scheduling office to find a drop off location. Which I said I wouldn't be doing. I dropped it off at the location that I had chosen on the internet with no issues. Every time I've used U-haul I've had an issue either with pick-up or drop off. The most important issue is the lack of consistency in the rules and procedures. In my opinion, all stemming from a poorly maintained franchise operation and an obviously poorly run logistics and scheduling operation. The probability of me getting a good pick up and drop off location with the truck I've ordered online has been so low I'll not be using U-Haul again. I've never used any other service for renting moving equipment, but the experience has steadily gone downhill. It's unfortunate that even if things do improve I'll never know as I'll be using some other vendor or service from now on.

My pickup location was in Baytown texas. When I arrived I was told that my rental was not there and I would have to drive 30 minutes to Dayton to pick it up. Lost at least and hour and many additional miles out of my way. Trailer did not have a stand. I had to use the jack out of my truck to be able to disconnect.

Turned out I did an after-hours drop-off so I didn't actually see the inside of their building. They were very helpful in communications over the phone, and working hard to improve their location access with a huge new parking lot off the busy highway. Plenty of parking behind their building for trucks & trailers. Thanks again Uhaul.

This location was great & very helpful, however since there is not a spot to discuss the overall renting experience I am putting it here - while I am aware renting uhaul trailers/trucks is based upon others dropping their rental off at locations, it is ridiculous how many times I was "rerouted" after being told, emailed, and texted by the "traffic center" that my rental was "guaranteed" and that there was "no reason to call and confirm my rental" because it was there and "guaranteed". With all the guaranteeing that went on - I still called to confirm my rentals and was then told that traffic was wrong and I needed to go elsewhere.....after 5 times it is just ridiculous. Do not "guarantee" a rental without knowing for sure it is actually at the location you are guaranteeing please.

reserved a truck in liberty but when i went to pick it up they said they didn't have one and that it had been stolen .didn't call me to let me know so had to get one at dayton and cost me another hour to go pick it up.didn't like that but finally got started and movers were there and did a good job ..
