Keep their dog, somewhere else and not behind the counter. Scared the c***p out of me.

April 18th 2025 Eric @ uhaul customer service -ABQ Re:5053390464 To Whom It May Concern: I rented a truck from Chavez Plumbing in Grants, NM. I attempted to replace the fuel prior to returning the vehicle however, I had insuffient funds on my card. I would have to have my $100 deposit released by Uhaul before I could replace the fuel in the Uhaul. A case of Catch 22. Simple. Really. Well, not for the counter clerk back at the Uhaul desk. In fact, it proved to be even more difficult than the CheckIn had been. I did not think that was possible. Well, it is possible. She did, after all, finally manage the CheckIn. However, the CheckOut remains undone to this day. She led me to believe she understood the situation, and allowed me to take the truck down the street to get the gas after my deposit was released. An action that is normally instantaneous. I usually have my deposit back on my bank card before Mr Chavez could hand me the transaction receipt. So, off I go to get gas. After an hour, I figured she must be stuck Back to the Uhaul counter I go. Oh, yes. She’s stuck alright and now acting like she did not know what I was talking about. I returned to the gas station with the truck again! That's my third trip to the gas station, now. This time, I figure, however much money was left on that card I will just go ahead and put that amount. At least it's most of the gas. But, oh no, Allsups has a hold on that amount and cannot regain access to it. Great! Refusing to look into the very blank eyes of the Zombie clerk for another round of ZERO RESOLUTION, I called instead, said I was dropping the truck off AGAIN. and would attempt to finish this some other time. Now, in defense of the poor little thing, I have attempted to use UHaul’s website. It is beyond frustrating. To the point of giving up. Brain shutdown. Complete refusal to even try the system again. Not going to do it, you can't make me. It IS THAT BAD! One would think that management would know that blank look on their employees faces by now and step in with assistance. There must have been no manager yesterday. If only there had been. I would not be writing another complaint to Uhaul. So, my last attempt to put gas in the truck was too near closing time to expect Sudden Resolution. My ride was waiting for me. To add insult to what is already serious injury, I dropped the keys in my purse (. As I had been very careful to do all day long) and went home. I told the girl I would leave them in the truck. It's what I intended to do. The person giving me a ride home said to me, after I recanted the events of attempting to check in the truck, he said, “they let you take a $30,000 truck down the street three times to put in $12 worth of gas?” Yes. Indeed. He said, “no seriously! “ I said, “yes seriously! “ I could be trusted to continue to take the truck up and down the road after it had already been checked in, (they had to hand me back the keys) but not trusted to give them $12 as soon as the deposit hit my card and I stood there in front of their cash register waiting for it. I guess I couldn't be trusted to do that! But, hand keys back to me so I could go down the road three times (each time adding more mileage to what is due since check-in), that, yes that, was okay. There was trust enough for that! So now, I would hope as a CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERT THAT YOU MIGHT FEEL AS THOUGH YOU HAVE A BIGGER PICTURE OF THE SITUATION NOW. I HAVE NO WAY, EXCEPT TO WALK, TO GET BACK TO THE U-HAUL CHAVEZ PLUMBING DEALERSHIP. IT IS FAR TOO FAR TO WALK. I'M 62 YEARS OLD! I expect Uhaul to provide customer service now where there was none when I needed it. This will require a direct response. In writing please. Terry Brandenburg
