I came at the designated pick up dare and time as per my online booking. The location was not labeled nor there were any clear signs as to where to go for UHaul bookings. Walked around the block but nothing that showed the U-Haul building, there was only U-Haul trucks parked right outside a gas station. Went inside to ask for directions / guidance and it turns out the gas station was the U-Haul location l. Again, no signage. I told the gas station clerk that I had a reservation. The clerk told me that his manager was not in today and that i would have to come back on Monday, because he was new and didn’t know how to do anything with U-Haul. I showed him the reservation receipt and he told me to call U-Haul for a refund. I told him to contact his manager because I had already planned out my day and my move. While all this is going on, a homeless person comes in demanding $5 for a service he had made a contract with the clerk, but apparently there was a misunderstanding. The homeless man started acting hostile and they started to assault each other. The clerk went inside the office and grabbed a golf club and started to swing it towards the homeless person. I had to get involved to avoid any further escalation, when all I was there was for my truck reservation. I separated both parties and ME ended up resolving the issue. The police department came afterwards and it was just chaotic. Clerk was able to confirm my reservation, but I was told I would have to return the truck by 4 pm… when the contract said all day or 30 miles. I was extremely frustrated and tired before even moving and driving in peak time traffic. Then I had to deal with the truck only having a quarter of gas! The gas pump would not work, on any pump at the gas station. The locking mechanism of the sliding door is broken, so I had to use my personal items to tie it shut. Drove all the way to my destination just to get a fee for going over a couple of miles. What a disaster of a company and experience. I have never experienced this while using U-Haul before. I will not be doing business with them anymore.

The gas station where the uhaul was was also being used as a valet parking lot. So when we came back to return it, the lot was absolutely packed with cars. The valet guys refused to help us, saying that they had to valet the cars around and couldn't make space. We had to wait for a spot to be open and had to block the valet guys from using the spot. It was extremely hard to park the 15 foot truck in between 2 cars. In the end it was ok, but stressful and inconvenient.
Barbara OI have rented U-Haul trucks many times. I’ve never had an experience as poor as this one. The check in process was totally unclear. It’s described as a “self service” location but you are actually required to go inside to speak with a worker in the convenience store. There was only one person working and she had to also check out the store customers so the process took forever and was frustrating. The van clearly hadn’t been cleaned, vacuumed or dusted in a long time.
Pablo IWas never able to access the vehicle, was told I had to wait for a refund.
DEANTE MHorrible pickup experience. We showed up a few minutes early for our reservation. We talked to someone at the counter, and they said "check in online." So we did. Nothing happened after the online checkin. Didn't get instructions, no emails, nothing. We had no idea what we were supposed to do. So we went back to the counter and she called somebody and they started asking us nonsensical questions for like 20-30 minutes. I have no idea why this was so complicated. Finally the attendant tells us the lockbox code. We never got an email with the code, ever. The whole experience took 40 minutes. On moving day, that is valuable time that was completely wasted on the most confusing and complicated pickup experience. Truly horrible. Oh and there was basically 0 gas in the tank. The gas light was on and it said something like less than 20 miles til empty. Just ridiculous. And then y'all tried to charge us for gas even when we returned it with MORE gas than when we picked it up. I don't know if I will use UHAUL again after this. UHAUL used to be good but I guess the company has really fallen off.
