This was a disastrous pickup, likely my last with Uhaul. I was called two days before scheduled pickup by Uhaul and told I had to switch to a different location. On the morning of the pickup I went to that new location, tried to do the self-service (since I needed it before business hours), and the app said I had to call. So I called, and the CSR said I had to go to yet another location, even further from where I needed to be with the truck at a set time, since I was paying movers to load the truck. When I arrived at the (now third) location, I was unable to do the self checkout and it said I had to call. I ended up on the phone for 1.5 hours, being transferred around from person to person until I finally was able to get the truck, which didn't have any of the equipment I'd ordered and paid for—AND NEEDED! This was incredibly frustrated. Two hours late and without equipment I started out down the road. Then it became clear that I couldn't drive more than 45 mph with the unloaded truck, as it had unbalanced wheels and started to jerk around like crazy. For fear of back injury while driving, I had to drive that slow on the freeway to get to the loading location. Total disaster.

DAVID KPrior to pickup, I received a call informing me that the truck size I reserved was not available and that I would instead receive the largest truck at no additional charge. While this was presented as an upgrade, it actually created additional inconvenience due to increased fuel costs and the difficulty of driving and parking a much larger vehicle. When I arrived, I was also told that the dolly I had reserved was unavailable. Because this was an important part of my move, I asked whether any compensation could be provided for the inconvenience. I was told the dolly charge would be removed, but since I never received a dolly in the first place, this did not address the issue. What was especially frustrating was that when I arrived at my destination and opened the truck, there were three dollies inside. This suggests that the equipment may have been available and was simply overlooked during pickup. Between not receiving the truck I reserved, not receiving accurate information about the dolly, and the additional challenges caused by these issues, the experience was far below what I expected.
