While the store I went to on atlantic blvd at the beach was completely professional and courteous, I first went to one closer to my house at the corner of beach and southside. My situation is that I completely lost my apartment and a vast majority of my possessions during hurricane Irma. A tornado hit my place while I was there and tore off the roof and sent it to the parking lot, then the ceilings in every room except one, collapsed. I needed a uhaul or some other way of getting whatever I could salvage out of there because everything was completely soaked and the hot days made the mold grow quickly. It did not help that the apartment had old mildewed and moldy isulation, and all of that rain water had to pass through. I went to the uhaul location on the corner of southside and beach and tried to rent a uhaul. I was told there were some available. The lady who was behind the counter was very rude and had a nasty attitude from the time I walked in. I asked to rent, she took information, and insisted I give her a forwarding address to where I was going. I explained to her my situation and explained that I had no where to go, as I had not had a chance to even think about a new place as getting my stuff out was so critical. She also was extremely rude even after hearing my situation. I asked about keeping the truck for a period of time saying I will pay whatever, I just desperately needed someplace to put my stuff temporarily until I had a chance to get another place. She then insisted I give her an exact date of when I would return the truck. Even after I explained several times. Even another coworker came in and joined the conversation. I told her I had no idea how long it would take maybe 1 or 2 weeks. She told me flat out several times that policy prevented her from renting me a truck unless I could give her an exact date and a destination. After 10 minutes of this, trying to simply get a truck, I gave up and left. I went to the uhaul in Atlantic where I have done business several times in the past. I explained my situation. They immediately accommodated me with a truck and I paid for 7 days rental up front with the stipulation that if I needed more time, just call and they can extend the reservation. No talk about exact dates or final destinations. I just returned the truck yesterday after 3-4 days as i found another place relatively quickly. It was night and day experience. I understand the need for policy, but not all situations fall into a nice neat square box. I also wonder about the legitimacy of this policy as the other store had no issues with my situation. Even if thete are desperate policies for different stores, the employees should at a minimum be professional with customers, not rude with an extra helping of attitude. It would also be a nice plus to have a little compassion for a fellow human that just experienced one of the biggest catastophies in their life.

I had reserved a 17 foot truck for pick up but due to the hurricane they did not have any trucks available which is understandable. They had a much smaller truck Available but when I said that I could make it work but it would take me more trips they insured me that would be no extra charge however when I return the truck on time they still charged me the overage for mileage That would not of been used hadt they had my adequate size truck available

I was in a rush when signed the paperwork. I chose UHaul over Budget because it was .79 per mile with Budget but .59 for Uhaul online. It is certainly my mistake to not read the fine print, but I was upset when I received my bill because of the obvious. I signed the paperwork, so I have no leverage or recourse. However, in good faith, it would be refreshing if the quote I got online was honored. All is said and done now, but I am moving my son this fall, and I would like to continue my relationship with uhaul in a positive light. Thank you. Connie

***U-HAUL ISSUES*** 08/16- 2 small roaches ran over dash about 45 min after picking van up 8/17am- killed 3 large roaches that were under dash that ran across floorboards 8/18- saw 2 large roaches between door and chassis - sprayed roach/insect killer, saw multiple small bugs/roaches scurry from under seats and dash 8/20(5:25am)- opened drivers door to find 3 roaches dead on floor ••••What if I was traveling cross country and I needed to sleep off the drive, but I have to share my experience with the roaches too??!!
