The person in charge should ask for extra insurance first as an option and not just tag it on without permission. Also he charged me double. Very basic location.

When i called the 1 800 number i was told that this location was the only one with availability for the next day even when i specified that i can pick one up in tunnaly nj.. Leaving me no choice to pick one up from E 119st for 2.50 a mile.. The next day when i picked it up my friend rented one from the tunnaly location on the same day for 1.25 a mile thus leaving me with a high bill..very disappinted.. Next time ill try some other company..thx

I made the reservation for my truck almost two months in advance. I reserved 1- 26 foot truck, 1- 2 wheel dolly, 1- 4 wheel dolly and 2 dozen blankets. A week before I realized that I only needed a 17 foot truck so I changed that on the reservation and kept everything else the same. On the rental day only a 20 foot truck was available with 1- 4 wheel dolly. No 17 foot truck, no 2 wheel dolly and NO blankets. I told him this was unacceptable and he said this is a busy time so that is all he had. I told him that I made my reservation two months ago. He said he tried contacting two locations, but neither one had the equipment. He gave me the number and said I could call around myself to find the equipment. When I tried calling the number he gave me, it was the number to file an accident claim with U-haul. Totally useless!!!

The attendant was very impolite. Told me that my gas level was the same when I returned the vehicle. He ended up charging me anyways.

U-Haul #28130 of East Harlem fraudulently overcharged me for fuel and labor, claiming I returned the vehicle at 1/8 tank and not 3/8 tank as required. They are also claiming that the vehicle was returned with additional 20 miles  than the actual odometer . Despite emails and chat texts with corporate AND MY PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE to show the mileage and fuel gauge at the time of return, they are insisting their word against my evidence. Furthermore, I have just been informed that the same vehicle has allegedly been in the shop since it was returned over a week and a half ago. The vehicle not only drove fine when I had it but if that is the case, who knows what issue the vehicle is having and why they are fraudulently overcharging me. I have a photo to prove my claim against their word. I have the chat transcript with U-Haul corporate customer service. I emailed them immediately after reviewing the final receipt and they did not respond. I have transcript of the online chat with corporate about the incident and they sided with the franchise and did not offer to review my photo evidence. They have completely RIPPED. ME. OFF. in both possible capacities. I have contacted my bank to reverse the charges, and the NY Department of Consumer Affairs to investigate them for systematic fraud. I will NOT RELENT until I get a FULL REFUND for this outright fuckery from thieves.

When we arrived, at first they would not allow us to drop off the u-haul here. He was claiming that they do not accept drop offs, I was a bit upset and showed him on our contract and baciscally told him we were leaving it here. He made a few phone calls, I was about to call Dave and Matt, (This was at 9:30pm) and he finally said we could leave it here. I do not blame the clerk, he was just doing his job and was feeling backed in the corner. I actually felt bad for him. I was relieved as much as he was when he was given the go ahead to accept the truck. Better communication is all that is needed here.
