I booked online the night before and selected my preferred location. My email confirmation gave my preferred location and I drove to that location to pick up my van. That location was no longer a U-Haul rental location and had not been for months. I wan never called or emailed with another location. This has now happened to me 3 times it is such poor customer service not to notify the customer of the correct pick up point. Plus you have numerous pick up locations in Newport Beach that are no longer in business on your website. On top of this the wait time to get customer service by phone is very long.

I was a bit hesitant to utilize this location due to other reviews, but I personally had a WONDERFUL experience. From check-in to drop off, the process was simple and straightforward. Employees were friendly and explained all the necessary information clearly and concisely. Props to Taylor for being wonderful. (We also had a great conversation about PC gaming)! Nothing was wrong with our truck itself and the inside was surprisingly clean. Turns out we ended up needing more time than the allotted 6 hours, so I called and they allowed us to continue to use the truck. When we dropped off a few minutes after the office closed, thankfully the employee also reminded us about filling up the gas, which we completely forgot about. Overall, I'd definitely rent from here again!

After hours drop off needs to be simple and explanatory. May be adding a step by step instruction would work. If we rent the truck with full tank it would be easy for us drop off the truck with filled tank. It is really difficult to estimate the fuel usage and refilling process or atleast add a digital fuel usage meter.

My rental truck was picked up and dropped off on the same day. I returned my rental within the 1 day return period yet they charged me for an extra day saying I dropped it off a day late. The receipt they emailed me recorded my drop off as the next morning when I returned it in the late afternoon the day before. I immediately emailed them back to see what happened with my paperwork but received no reply for over 2 days. I tried calling multiple times but was left on hold for over 20 minutes each time. So unprofessional that I can't reach any employee to settle this matter for the past 3 days.

Had issues posting pictures of the odometer and fuel gauge. Would not upload. Had to come back to the office when open to completely checkout and get receipt. Overall this issue added over an hour to the check-in and checkout process. Very frusterating.

If someone’s receipt labels a location as a drop off, then don’t question the customers as to why they are dropping it off there even if there is nothing in your system.

self pick up instruction was very unclear. I scheduled for 8:30 and finally drove my Uhaul out arond 9:10 1. Most of this place was gated before office was open. Only few spots left out the gate. I was totally unaware that if I could park my car there because there was no sign and only 1 available space. 2. Once you passed through this place, you needed to do 2 U-turn and 2 traffic light to get back. 3. I was expecting a clean Uhaul but there are lots of blankets and a Dolly left in the passenger seat. I was scared and thought there's a homeless sleeping over there. 4. Uhaul self check in website messed up as well. In the last step (step 7), it continuously reminded me to upload "more recent photos" of the "Odometer/fuel" and "truck internal cleaness)" and kept rejecting the photos I just took. Refreshing page did not help. When I used the previous link to log in again, I only got the option of "return your uhaul". As a result, I waited another 5 mins in the line just after the office opened to get confirmation from the staff.

Offer the option of online checkin (after the shop is closed) OR checkin via the customer service phone #. Not everyone has the patience to sit in the dark trying to go through all of the check-in steps.

Uhaul was not even remotely clean. I had to sweep it out (both the cargo area and the cab up front). I had to scrub out mud. The employee there did not show me how to properly hook up the tow dolly. He tried to, but he wasn't sure how to do it. Also, there was no damage walk-around bit where I marked down damaged spots. Also, renting from this location cost 2 to 3 times more than any other rental I've ever had.
