I think it's misleading to make people think they will be spending maybe $60 or $70, as the advertisement for the van is 19.99......then they end up paying $116 plus $40 in gas. I was charged far more than I expected to be.

I rented the truck that is identified as ideal for a one bedroom apartment move. Suffice to say, it was not at all an appropriate size and my apartment was only 400 square feet. I chose the option of paying for kilometers as it worked out cheaper then dropping it off at a different location. Due to the inappropriate sizing, I was going to need to load the truck twice and make two drop offs from Oakville to Hamilton. I was getting short on time and very stressed so I called to ask if I could extend the rental. I was firmly told no because there was another request for the truck immediately after mine. With no extension, I would not have had time to load the truck a second time. So I inquired about other rental options for another day. When I called my boyfriend to tell him to drop the truck off instead of coming for the second trip, he decided to call himself. With no issue he was told that he could have it for another hour AND that there would be no late fee. I don't understand how we received two vastly different responses from the same location. I was worrying sick about meeting my move out deadline and panicking about the cost of another truck for nothing. In the end it worked out and the move was completed with the additional hour of time given, however, the stress of it all is not to be dismissed and the additional charge for the added kilometers was quite a hit. I clearly required a larger size so I would say that the guideline is misleading and recommend others look at it very carefully before making your selection.

The location itself was great. But the process in which I had to go through to get the uhaul was horrible and the customer service is terrible.

I feel like I had to compromise through the whole experience. Reserved a 9 ft van for the move. Then was informed that What was reserved was not going to be available and had to accept a larger cube van that was not available until 1/2 hour later. Then when I arrive to pickup the truck up I am told it would be a further 1/2 hour delay as the previous customer was late in returning it. Finally get the truck and then told I only have it for 3 hours instead of the agreed upon 4 hours that was required. Had to rush to accomplish the drive into the city & back. Unhappy that I seem to be the one having to compromise on the equipment and the last minute time of the rental. Not likely to use your services again unless I can be guaranteed that what I am paying for is provided. Do not understand why I had to be the one who had to compromise through this process. Not impressed.

U-Haul head office needs to make the Return date/ time more clear. The return date is not highlighted on the contract. It's listed in small print but not on the spreadsheet. In addition, the front desk person did not review or highlight my return date. The closed top trailer I pre-ordered 3 weeks prior (using U-Haul web site) was not available. I was informed 2 days before pickup. I was told some people do not return when scheduled. I received a call 4 days into my rental telling me my trailer was due back. Told the U-Hall rep I booked for 7 days. Looking at my contract, I can see the trailer was listed for only 4 days. The front desk person made a mistake with the booking but never confirmed the return date. I can now understand why so many U-Haul trailers are not available when people go to pick them up. It's because U-Haul does a poor job of highlighting the due date and time.

When I rented van I your representative said the tank is full and I have to return van with the same amount of fuel. I made only 99 km and by the time of filling up the tank I put there 30 liters. This van do not take 30 liters on 100 km. So please check the tank after your car returned to the company to make sure the next customer will not fill up the extra fuel.

When calling to get a refund for the extra mileage used because of the change in pick-up location, one male employee assured me he would refund the cost of the extra mileage. He did not follow-up on this. I received a bill the next day for the charge and was forced to waste more time calling back. Frustrating...

took a fair bit of time to get my information and credit card - not sure why. This location didn't have a 2x2' dolly (despite me calling about it in advance) so I had to go to another location to get one. Construction on main street made it difficult to get to and leave this location.
