The vehicle had a check engine sign on ... the battery had to be jumped because the truck would not start ... we had to jump start the truck ... poor quality of the truck ... I like U-Haul but my experience wasn’t good at all ...

U-Haul has an online expedited order system. I followed all of the directions completely. The online system asked me during pickup of the rental van “Does the vehicle have any damage that is not indicated by an ‘x’ taped to the vehicle”. I inspected the vehicle and found no damage. I clicked “No” to the response. Then, the UHaul attendant told me I had to take pictures of the vehicle. I told him that I followed the directions. He said “My manager says everyone has to take pictures or we’ll be fired”. Long story short: your customers have places to go. Follow the online system or change the online system. I had to pay the loaders of my job $75 of overtime pay because I couldn’t just take the vehicle after I had finished with the pick up criteria and was 30 minutes late to my appointment because I was siting in the lobby waiting for people to take pictures of the van that the U-Haul site did not require. I will never use this U-Haul location again and I will not recommend this location because of this manager’s policy. To be clear: this is not about the customer service I received. The people who work at this location are the only reason I rated it “average” and not poor. But whoever this manager is who won’t trust the U-Haul online system is costing you my business.

I originally requested this trailer from UHaul in Chatham, however it was not available. Please apply the $50 guarantee credit to my card. The Orange location was a bit of a drive from my house. This particular location was clean and the people we very professional.

The truck and car trailer were perfect for my needs. The only thing that needs addressing is U-Haul's reservation system. I booked the equipment almost 6 weeks in advance on-line to be picked-up at your Scotch Plains, NJ facility. I went there a week in advance to confirm my reservation and to obtain validation my truck and car trailer would be ready for me on the morning of 11/13. I was assured it would be and not to worry as obtaining this truck was paramount to everything that followed in my relocation plans. The morning of 11/12 I received a call from U-Haul telling me the equipment was not available at my preferred location In Scotch Plains for the 8AM morning pick_up and I would have to go the a North Plainfield, NJ (4 miles away) location to get it. This wasn't too bad an inconvenience so I made the trip to North Plainfield losing an hour in my packing schedule. Upon arriving to the North Plainfield location, I was told they have no trucks there and they did not know why I was told to go to their location in the first place. I then called U-Haul and was told I had to go to their Orange, NJ facility to pick-up the truck and car trailer. This was a distance of over 22 miles away. I asked if U-Haul could deliver the equipment to the original Scotch Plains location and I was denied that request. Where is your customer service? Being in a bind, I subsequently traveled the 22 miles to U-Haul's Orange, NJ facility where they had the equipment ready and waiting for me. I lost 5 hours of truck loading time due to driving to distant multiple locations which wasn't planned for. It inconvenienced me and my wife as she had to drop me off for the pick-up. U-Haul made no effort to remedy the situation to deliver the truck to my original Scotch Plains location especially when you were the cause of this issue. I was not given or offered any compensation relief for this very unpleasant, stressful and aggravating ordeal I went through. Especially considering the cost of this rental at over $1,600 for a 697 miles move. I even returned the truck and car trailer a day earlier on 11/16. I will never use U-Haul again unless I hear back from you explaining to me how something like this can occur and why I was not offered any discount for the ordeal you put me through. What is the purpose of reserving a truck if you can't deliver it where requested?

My one complaint was upon my returning the truck, the associate was less than welcoming in my view. He was short in his responses. He verbalized my final amount to be charged. When I asked for a receipt he claimed it would be emailed to me. 24 hours later I am STILL waiting for it. Not good.
