The pick up truck that was rented to me has a good NO SMoking Sign. But the smell to nicotine was intolerable. With the cold weather, I was forced to open the windows cause the highly nicotine fumes.

The rental location very close, only a few minutes from our loading point so we had very little time to experience the truck before the 3 hour loading process. Once loaded and started the trip we found out how uncomfortable and actually unsafe the truck really was. The passenger had no seatbelt and the driver side seatbelt would lock up on rough roads, get too tight to move and would require the passenger's assistance to release it. This would happen frequently from steering wheel and trucks excessive vibration at 65mph and in City traffic it seamed safer to not wear the seatbelt to avoid being immobilized by it. The passenger had to remain alert to assist the driver so resting and relief driving wasn't an option and required an overnight stop for resting. If not for the difficulty and lack of skilled manpower to unload and reload a partially dismantled airplane we would have found a different truck. I cannot imagine renting a vehicle with compromised and missing safety equipment to the public is common practice or legal. Moving is stressful whether it's a household or a WWII airplane, make sure all of the equipment works as designed and SHOW the customer all safety equipment is in good working order, in case someone forgot to check before hand. These problems were pointed out at the drop off location and the only comment I got was "this truck probably needs to be taken out of service". Will it? Will it even be checked out??



The Google maps info that I received from Siri was incorrect as to locations for dropoff and the hours when these sites were open. I was able to call the U-haul number to verify a local site, but they gave me a location that was a ways away down a toll road in Orlando. I called the site and said that due to traffic I may be a couple of minutes late (after closing). I was told to do an after-hours dropoff. I realized that the location manager had answered the call and not anyone on-site (if it was still even open). As I was talking to him, I drove by a large U-haul and storage locker location that wasn't identified earlier (either on-line or on the call to U-haul). I was able to stop there and drop off the trailer without incident. Things you could do better: 1) don't allow rental from any location unless they actually 'HAVE' the items to be rented. 2) simplify the verification process so that one can be SURE of being able to pick up the rental at the scheduled time, not after half of the day has been wasted. 3) Make sure that online information is accurate, especially with regard to hours of operation. While I rated the individual sites where the rental was picked up and dropped off as adequate or good, the rental process itself could only be rated poor to very poor (not acceptable). With any luck, it'll be quite a while before I have to go through the hassle of renting from U-Haul again.

I arrived at 8:51 for an online reservation at 9 am. I didn’t realize the location opened at 9 am, there were 3 employees moving and returning vehicles out side, and two employees inside the locked showroom. No one greeted me, no employee would make eye contact with me, I waited until 9 am on the dot, when the doors were unlocked and I was allowed in. No greeting, no smiles, just how can I help you. No thank you, no please, no you’re welcome. Just soulless and depressed employees. The first truck I was assigned had incorrect mileage, so I had to wait for a second one truck to be assigned and brought up. Everyone is stressed and anxious on moving day, having a pleasant experience at the uhaul pick up, goes a long way! That is not what I had. Really disappointing over all.

This is the absolute best Uhaul facility I have ever used and the best employees I have ever encountered!!! Lillian, Brian Torres, Felix Alain, and Casilla Garay we're so helpful with my rental of a hitch and trailer. It was a horrible rainy day and Lillian was so patient and caring with me. The guys listed above we're out there in the rain attaching my gear and talked me through all the "ins and outs" and we're so patient despite the freezing weather. That crew is top notch!!
