This was my first time using this U-Haul store and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had with U-Haul. The first rental van they gave me had a homeless person sleeping inside of it, which was shocking and completely unacceptable. When they gave me a replacement van, the staff did not check the vehicle or verify the mileage. They simply handed us the keys and sent us on our way. After returning the van, I was charged for 118 miles when I only drove about 30 miles. Because of this error, my total came to $356.91 when it should have only been about $98. This situation was caused by the staff not properly checking the vehicle or documenting the mileage when the replacement van was issued. I expect this charge to be corrected and the overcharge refunded. Overall, the lack of attention to basic procedures and customer safety was extremely disappointing.
