The truck was gorgeous--brand new. The problem with it was the stench of chemical air freshener. I had a headache and sore throat from breathing it for the 45 minutes I was in the truck. You should seriously consider using simple vinegar and water for cleaning. The air inside the truck doesn't need to be "freshened" or altered in any way. Here is what is in Febreeze-type chemical air shit: Febreeze, Glade, Yankee or any other brand of plug-ins, spray, tarts or candles claiming to (chemically) freshen or alter the smell of the air are highly toxic and contain the following chemicals. The only thing I would say, is for the employees that rent the truck to actually tell the renter, that they need to go to the app to check in the truck when returning it. I was told to just throw the keys in the dropbox and I would be all set. I found out I needed to do that by talking to a representative at a other location. Also, a little how the process works. I had locked the truck and put the keys in the box and didn't realize that I needed to take a picture of the mileage and the gas level.

This was probably one of the worst customer service experiences my husband and I have ever had. We will NEVER utilize this service again and we certainly will steer friends and family from doing so as well. For starters we called and reserved a 26 foot truck for TWO days to complete our move. The day we went to pick up the truck (the day we were scheduled to do so)from the Queensbury location we were told that we were not allowed to keep the truck for two days but had to return the following day, therefore only granting us access to it for 24 hours. We were told someone else needed it and we must return it within 24 hours. We knew that was an impossible task with what we our planned move entailed. We tried to insist that we did indeed follow the correct steps and reserved the truck for the days we needed it for. They continued to state that we did not, that we only reserved it for 24 hours. The manager, Norm, offered us a 20 foot truck for 48 hours instead and certainly made us feel that he was doing us a huge favor by doing that. Due to the pinch we were in we had no choice but accept the smaller truck. Norm also informed us that U-Haul states that when you call they record their conversations to protect the promises made to the customer, therefore we should call customer service and ask for a copy of the conversation and go from there and there was NOTHING else he will do for us and that he had satisfied or need by loaning us the smaller truck. We called the customer secivce number and get approximately an hour total of waiting and speaking to two different representatives (both were extremely helpful and professional) we were informed that we did indeed reserve the 26 foot truck for 48 hours and that it was clearly documented as so in the system. We were told a manager will be calling us to discuss the situation. It has been two days and we haven’t received a call at all. The reps at the location as we as Norm were extremely unprofessional and unsympathetic. Moves are stressful and tough enough, the U-Haul experience only made it more horrific. NEVER AGAIN!

Inside windshield was filthy, no washer fluid in outside squirted. Counter person didn’t know how to charge my card, got price wrong twice. Checkout took half an hour and guy said truck is outside and gave me the key. No walk around and gas tank had 1/8 less than on the contract.

I rent from Uhaul a couple times a year, and for the most part enjoy everything about it, however the mileage piece of the puzzle is extremely high, wish you had a program that frequent customer got a break on the mileage. Also the past 2 trucks I have rented one 10' and one 15' both have been pretty beat up externally and internally.

when I called to schedule a rental they didnt say my truck wasnt going to work. They took all the info on the truck but did not say it would not pull the car carrier. So me and my son went to uhaul they hooked ny sons truck up to the car carrier and after that the manager was putting in the info in the computer he said it would not let me rent it because it would not pull it. So my son had wasted his time and gas coming. And the only option would be a different truck. So he offered me a 15 ft for a 10 ft price and when put on my card he charged me for the 15 ft. Each time I have rented there, the system seems very unorganized. When I attempted to do it online it did not allow me to complete the verification code. So I called the store early in the a.m. and was told could I please go online because he was the only person there and had four customers. The day I returned the truck I told them that the trailer lighting the dash was on. The gentleman stated that they should have told me about that as I would’ve gotten better gas mileage if they showed me how to turn it off.

Personally, I feel like the rental should have had a full tank of gas when I got it. That way I could have just filled it up before dropping it off and known that it was the correct amount of fuel in it. When I picked up the van it had just over 3/8ths of a tank of gas. Not enough to get to my destination so I filled the tank but read the fine print after and found that they would have charged me $4.50 a gal had I not returned it with the same amount that it had when I got it. But would not reimburse me if it had more than when I picked it up.

Truck was picked up with a 5/8 full gas tank, but the most precise markings on the gas gauge were in 1/4's. I used the trip feature on the odometer after driving roughly 5 miles, it read 48 miles when I dropped it off, and I was charged for 60 miles.
