I used a 15' truck, tow dolly, moving pads and furniture dolly. The day before picking up, I had at least 5 confirmations in different locations to pick up different sized trucks. The tow dolly was to be picked up at a different location. Seeing I was driving my vehicle that was to be towed, I had to make several phone calls to make sure all the equipment was to be picked up at the same location. When I got there, the furniture dolly and the pads were not on the reservation. We added them to separate contracts. THEN the manager of the location forgot to put them in the truck. I had to return to pick them up. To his credit, he alerted me to the fact that, because I had several contracts, to make sure I had all of them cleared when I returned the equipment. Once we started loading, we realized a 15' truck includes the 2' "Granny's Attic". The truck box itself is only 13'. Had the truck actually been 15', all the contents would have fit. UHaul has their truck dimensions on line but I feel this should be made very clear when someone is renting a truck.

This was more about U Hauk corporate and not the location. I reserved a 6x10 with confirmation and then when I arrived to pick up trailer U Haul had given me a smaller trailer 5x10. I received no notification of this change and had to make two trips.

The locations that are much closer did not have the available vehicles. Therefore I ended up spending about 40 more dollars than I should have just because I had to drive so much farther to my location. On top of that, I pay tax on that extra mileage! I signed up online including the feature that claims that all I had to do was pick up the keys. When I got to the location, that function was not working and I spent about 15 minutes getting checked out. Normally that is no big deal but my rental was four hours and I spent most of my rental time waiting checking in checking out and driving. I opted out on the insurance when I signed up online. When I checked out I was charged $14. Now I have to call someone and beg for them to credit my account. Of course, that person is gone for the day. Even though the truck was quite new, it's stunk of body odor. In total, I spent $121 plus $15 in gas for a four hour truck rental, driving about 50 miles. This is a far cry from $19.99 per day.

I am not happy with the service I received from Pat's uhaul. I reserved a truck only to find out the no truck was available at the last minute. I was told to go to another city to pick up the truck. When I arrived their was no truck available at the location. After several calls, being placed on hold and having to repeat my issue several times, I reached someone who gave me a good discount on the truck of which, however the only truck available was 2 hours away and they closed at 12. I must say that the agents that I spoke with were all nice and sympathetic to the issue, but mostly unable to resolve the problem. Because the truck was not available when promised, I lost my crew to load my truck and had to pay to have it loaded, and everything moving forward was a challenge and an extra expense.My other issue was the attitude of Mr. Wendell at Pat's U haul in Salinas. He took no responsibility for his mistake that started the problem and responded in a way that made me feel that he did not care about me as a customer. His attitude was poor, he did not explain the contract and all the additional charges. In fact the total he gave me was more than the original total with the discount. He did not have a dolly available. It was a horrible experience. It has given me reasons not to use U haul again.
