Make sure trucks are available for reservations made. I first got rescheduled to a location incredibly far away, then I called and got rescheduled to a closer location, but six hours later. I eventually got the truck I wanted at a somewhat reasonable time, but it was frustrating to have to reschedule the movers and change everything at 7pm on a Friday night for my move that was supposed to be at 9am the next day, but turned out not.

I understand that actual pick-up location is limited by equipment availability, but our contract has me agreeing to a total number of miles when I reserve the truck. When my actual pick-up location is different than my "preferred" location (which is the only location that matters to me), and I am paying per-mile over a threshold, my limit should be adjusted. I drove an additional 15 miles (7.5mi each way). At $0.40/mi, this is only $6.00, but I am more concerned with the principle.

Worst customer service ever in my life (over the world in between 12 countries i lived in). Robert Hoffert has no customer service skills AT ALL, rude, looks very mad, unable to answer my concerns clearly, even with the "walk around" I have some questions about the car because It was my first time to drive with uhaul, I didn't know how to fix the side mirrors or change A/C setting to circulation but he left me and I drove to san fransisco struggling with the mirrors and emissions from the AC. He told me I can drop off the car SF office but he didn't explain to me there is no employees there to receive it from or to drop off the key in the box, I Had to call customer service and they guided me (I wish i can remember his name) after i spent more than 30 minutes trying to figure it out. Hope not to need to visit that office ever again. Ended by dropping the keys with my only contract copy that I have while the instructions said I should to attach A copy and keep my copy with me . Anyway, it was a nightmare but it could be worse.

Disappointed that we were called and told that our truck was not ready at The Alameda location. We had already arrived at The Alameda and were informed that the truck had been returned "last night" with damage. This was a major inconvenience since we were already on a tight schedule and were waiting in line at The Alameda when I received the call. Why wasn't I called the night before if the truck was returned the night before with damage? I asked to have the manager call me back regarding this issue, but I still have not heard back. The Curtner location was great. I just wish I would have AT LEAST been offered compensation on the additional mileage I had to drive due to the last minute location change. I would still love to hear back from a manager regarding this matter.

Really young kids running this place. They need to be re trained to greet and welcome guests. Two guys behind the desk didn't even sit up straight when approached by me, an older woman. Tsk tsk. They should have stood up and greeted with a smile. Customer service is a must in any service business. I am sure personnel can be re trained to learn this. After all, they are the face of the company.

Couple of things about this U-haul location. I rented a pickup truck from them with the intention of towing a trailer I would rent at another U-haul location (they didn't have the trailer I needed at this location). Upon receiving the truck I inquired about the tow bar/trailer ball/hitch pin and why it wasn't on the truck, the employee told me the other location should provide it to me. The other location ended up not doing so, and had none available, so I had to buy my own tow bar/ball/pin combo at an auto parts store. Apparently this was all supposed to be provided but no one really cared. When I picked up the truck the employee mentioned above was supposed to go over defects in the truck and mark them down, he didn't do so. The driver's side door frame was dented, causing the door not to close properly. He didn't bother to note it or inform me, I noticed later when I was on the freeway. Thankfully I didn't get charged for that damage, which would've been possible since it seems no one noticed it before. The man inside doing the paperwork was courteous, but the young guy outside was completely useless and looked like he hated his job. They need better help and more thoroughness, there's alot of liability involved in towing a trailer and they need to provide all the equipment to the customer.
