The agent processed me quickly when I arrived. He came out and hooked up the trailer, checked the lights and I was good to go. Very pleased with the service I received.

Filthiest (inside & out) U-Haul location I have ever seen. No decent access to the office; have to walk through the repair bay, straddling equipment and tool discarded all over the floor, as opposed to returned to their proper place. No greeting or acknowledgement from the individual (mechanic?) as we traversed the obstacle course on our way to the office. I greeted him with a hearty “good morning, how are you today?” to which his response was “I’m here”. I advised him “That’s wonderful, many people are unemployed and desiring a steady job.” to which he frowned and turned away; no inquiry as to our needs or if he could assist or direct us somewhere. Two employees were behind the counter in the office talkingand did not acknowledge our presence for about 2 minutes... again, no greeting or enthusiasm. Very unprofessional, as though we were a bother, rather than a potential customer. Although one employee hooked up the rented trailer and did a “light test”, upon arriving to our destination (5 miles away) I noticed the trailer lights did not flash with the vehicle lights when I locked the vehicle doors with the key remote. Upon inspection the trailer wiring was not hooked up to the vehicle trailer socket... the trailer wiring had been dragging on the road. Upon returning the trailer, I could not pull into either of the 2 “Return Equipment Here” bays, as each was filled with a larger rental truck. I pulled up behind one of the trucks (which had the driver door wide open) thinking I would be next in line to check in. WRONG! After setting there several minutes, not seeing any activity, I got out of my vehicle,walked around the outside of the building, traversed the disarrayed shop obstacle course to enter the office. Upon settling the rental bill (with the same employee I rented it from) he came outside, disconnected and dropped the trailer immediately behind my vehicle and left leaving me no room to back up or go forward. With a large truck in front of me and a trailer behind me, I literally had about 5 feet of room to maneuver and extricate my vehicle driving back and forth to turn my vehicle around and exit the place. With the lack of customer service and pure unprofessional attitudes of the three employees that I witnessed, plus the absolutely filthy appearance of the building and grounds, these folks should be fired and those positions filled with people who seriously desire to work and properly represent their employer.

I reserved a 26 foot truck for my move, but when I got there they did not have a 26 foot truck. They only had a 20 foot truck. That was already reserved for someone else. After 15 minutes of trying to figure out what to do, they gave me the 20 foot truck and said they would figure something out for the person that that truck was reserved for. So I had to make two trips with our move instead of one because I couldn't fit everything we had in a 20 foot truck. Which is why I requested a 26 foot truck. So instead of getting a discount because they didn't have the truck I needed, I ended up paying more in milage because I had to make two trips. Not happy.

After explaining my experience of having my stuff get wet during transport, the employee was extremely helpful. First off he took me out to the truck to examine what the issue may have been. As I stated earlier, this didnt happen at the Cleveland location. It was almost akward that the employee simply handed me the keys and sent me on my way without any type of review of the unit. While I was not happy with my experience overall, I was extremly greatful for the help that the employees at the Springfield location provided on the back end. I just wish the Cleveland location wouldve been proactive on the front end to avoid the situation completely.

Have more staffing on busy days such as Saturday. Having one employee hooking utility trailers,checking in vehicles, and checking out vehicles slows scheduled times for your customers.

Though this is a 24 hour return facility, the process to return the truck after hours is very cumbersome. You will need about 20 minutes, a smart phone, and plenty of battery power (and patience). Why not just have a paper envelope with forms to use like is done when dropping off your car at a dealership for repair?
