Limited moving supplies and trucks.



First, it's the only outlet in town for truck rental, so "would I recommend this location to a friend..." comes with a caveat that it's the only place to rent a moving truck, and it's not as bad as the people t Carpenter Tire Service in Brookings, Oregon (where I would recommend a friend to drive 40 extra miles to rent a truck in Crescent City, CA, or to drive 100 miles to rent in Grants Pass). So, I'd recommend Skyline as the only and not unbearable option. On the negative side, whether it's the Uhaul system, or Skyline's internet provider (we have particularly bad internet service in Susanville, just as in most of rural America...), or Skyline's computer equipment... the hurdles needn't be hurdles. Simplify and streamline the rental process. I reserved days ago, and yet there was very little streamlining without internet, or the application was inoperable, or whatever the problem was: from the customer perspective, the stuff didn't work, and it was an inconvenience for me and for everyone for whom I was the bottleneck in Skylines operations for Uhaul and its regular line of business.

I did not know I was responsible for cleaning the vehicle before I turned it in. I received it mud covered, from the previous renter and snowy bad weather. But the receiving Uhaul people were nice and helpful with me. I can recommend Uhal based on them.

The truck was dirty inside, plus the customer service wasn't great. The lady didn't explain anything to me, plus she didn't even smile. She acted more like a robot. But overall, truck ran great!!!!

The brake and signal light on the right side must have had a short as it didn't work all of the time. I was told they worked when I picked up the trailer but when we checked before I left home they were not working. When my sister followed me to my destination she said they did not work all of the time.

I was getting a 26' truck from Susanville ca to Reno nv and the first truck I was given wouldn't start so the worker on duty switched me to another truck. Everything was fine until we went out to confirm the fuel level. I pointed out to the employee that the level was under 1/4 full and he proceeded to argue that it was well over half without even looking. I was shocked at this point so I asked him to look and he quickly glanced from outside rather than looking at it from the angle I was seeing from the drivers seat. He then said it was just under half and while I still didn't agree with that assessment, the whole experience was coming up on an hour and I was in a hurry to get out of there so I didn't argue the point further. On a truck of that size the difference in fuel cost was still probably close to $30 - $40 that I ate because your employee was frustrated that he was working on his day off. I deal with uhauls all over northern Nevada and California more in a year than most people will in their entire lives and this was the first time I have ever experienced anything like this.

Check the equipment better before renting. It had a horseshoe nail in the side wall that I didn't notice until I had the trailer half loaded. The personal at the site were very helpful in getting a new tire put on.

The trailer I rented had to be exchanged for another (in Chico) because it was totally unsafe. The right ramp had no latch stop and when I arrived at my destination it was sticking out about 4 feet.

U-haul is playing tricks even with their request for review. The review should be (also) for overall handling of my reservation, which was awful, much below poor, and outrageous (see details below). Johnsonville location was fine and the guy there did his best to help, but it is 80 miles away from reno where I was supposed to pick up the vehicle and as had confirmed few days earlier when I called to uhaul customer center which reconfirmed all was ready for me. Obviously, vehicle was not ready for me in Reno and excuses that it is because of burning man high demand are ridiculous.. this is exactly what uhaul should plan for.. burning man.. this is your time to prepare properly and shine.. instead you screw up.. and keep lying saying nobody confirmed my resetvation for reno (check your call logs from 8/23).. it cost me $120 to get to Johnsonville.. wasted 5 precious hours back and forth (reno-Johnstonville-reno).. moreover: - was promised refund for gas and miles, but then was cancelled. - was promised reimbursement for $50 'reservation guarantee', but then this was cancelled. - instead was given $30 gift certificate.. seriously?! For your unprofessional handling that cost me $200 and time?.. and why do you think I will use uhaul ever again?! This is not over..
