The van was new, easy to operate, and in good condition. I was approached in the parking lot by two strangers soliciting work. That made me feel unsafe as the location is not secured. When I returned the van, the staff told me I would be charged a cleaning fee for dirt. The van had that minimal dirt/dust in it at the beginning of my rental, it was not a result of my task. While I'm glad she believed me, the customer, and did not charge me, I am hesitant to rent again.

You should have some expedited vehicle pickup process for people who have already reserved a vehicle instead of making them stand in line for a long time (45 minutes in my case) behind people who need EVERYTHING about U-Haul explained to them and cause the line to move at a snail's pace: There were three "regular" line when I went to pick up my reserved vehicle on September 16, 2017 on New Hampshire Avenue in Maryland - three lines that handled ALL customers. Some prospective customers took FOREVER because they had no clue which vehicle they wanted, needed EVERYTHING explained, etc. Maybe they did not have a computer to research U-Haul and to reserve a vehicle in advance but, regardless, this problem of forcing people like me to wait behind people who need EVERYTHING explained is a strong argument for having a faster process for people who have already reserved. As I said, we had to wait about 45 minutes (even though there were three lines) because. of multiple people who needed everything about U-Haul explained! PLEASE institute a faster process for people with reserved vehicles. PLEASE NOTE: If you think there are not usually enough customers who have reserved in advance to justify a separate line, out of the two or three lines, you could simply have the employees in the "regular" lines periodically ask if anyone has already reserved a vehicle - similar to employees in post offices who periodically ask "Is anyone picking up?" and, if there is, the Post Office takes those people aside and helps them because picking up mail is a faster process. If there is someone who has reserved a vehicle in advance, you could assist them ahead of other customers because those reserved vehicle customers would take very little time to assist (and they have helped you by going to the trouble of pre-planning, pre- ordering). If there are MANY people who raise their hands when you ask "Has anyone already reserved a vehicle?", you could designate a line a "reserved only" line temporarily until those reserved vehicle people are dealt with, while keeping the other line(s) open for other customers who have not reserved a vehicle. The next time I need a rental vehicle, I am going to ask if there is any expedited process for customers who have already reserved a vehicle online before I reserve a vehicle with a company. If there is not some expedited protocol for people who have already reserved, I will probably choose another company who has such a process.. Thank you.

I wouldn't say the equipment was "clean." The phone app did not work after I went to considerable trouble to download in advance. The place could be fantastic, but when I turned in the truck, I couldn't tell if the staff was helping me or not. they need to be polite, smile, speak directly and clearly to the customers, focus on one person at a time and act like they don't hate being there. The guy helping me was staring at a cell phone; was it a u-haul device? communication would have improved the situation. It's a stressful day for movers, u-haul could do better.

Even if you don't need the trailer for the entire day, make sure you check it out for 24 hours. If you are 33 minutes late on a 6 hour rental they will try and charge another days rental.

There are so many people available at this location to hire for moving, that it is difficult to differentiate who is a U-Haul employee. Suggest that u-Haul employees wear clothing/badge that indicates they are an employee.

Notice I wasn't given a form to check over the truck to find any dents etc. on it prior to using it as I had been in the past. Not sure if that's new policy or just the policy this time... I like the look of this location. Inside the store is organized and nice. The service was adequate but perfunct.

Expedite pickup and dropoff. Picking up, I was given general directions to my truck's location on the lot and it took me a few minutes to find it. Dropping off, after notifying the desk that I was returning the truck, it was 8-10 minutes before an employee came out to check the truck.

There was no utility dolly available for rent despite my booking, so I had to purchase one. Also, the line was extremely long with only one checkout clerk at arrival. Other than that, I had a very good experience with the Takoma Park location.

When I picked up the reserved vehicle, I inquired if it would be okay to park my car in the designated U HAUL parking lot. An employee told me that would be fine, when I came back to return the van, my car was blocked from all sides because the entire driveway was full of parked trucks. Theres was one narrow parking spot that we barely made it thru( video exists) but damaged the car in result. I'm outraged that the decision to go with U HAUL lead to having a damaged car now, and the way the cars were parked looked like one giant fire hazard!
