This was the the worst UHaul experience I have ever endured. Moving is a stressful situation to begin with, and made more stressful when you make a reservation, during the location’s normal open hours, and UHaul decides at the last minute to switch you to a 24/7 drop location, behind a sketchy salon, with poison ivy growing everywhere. I originally went to the University City UHaul location (7270 Olive Blvd.), at my 7 am reservation time, and there was a person working at the desk, so it’s anyone’s guess why they even *needed* to send me to a 24/7 pickup location. This person (wish I would have gotten his name, but he was a skinny guy with glasses) decided to not be helpful but decided to be a butt when I clearly did not get a text the previous day and did not realize I needed to use their website to do their job for them in picking up my truck. I had people waiting at my house to help me move and it took extra time to sit on the phone with one UHaul’s customer service rep, Sharon, who was incredibly helpful in walking me through the process of the 24/7 pickup, which again, was behind a sketchy-looking salon in a residential neighborhood, with poison ivy growing everywhere and dogs barking at me through the gated back door. Sharon was the only saving grace of this experience. She should get a promotion. The guy at the UHaul location on Olive should get a write-up for being rude to a customer at 7 in the morning on moving day, especially when he should have been the one to do all of the stupid nonsense I had to do, with taking pictures and verifying information, etc. There is no reason, during your open hours, to make customers do your job for you. It’s not “convenient.”
Dustin BHard to understand why a beauty salon is renting a Uhaul when I originally secured the reservation from the large Uhaul location just one mile from this beauty salon. I first went to where I completed the reservation from. I was told that it was actually dispatched from this beauty salon. I went there and there was no truck. The staff there told me they had rented it out and to go back to the company store where I started! I went back there and called the Uhaul dispatcher who told me to go back to the beauty salon and the truck would be there. I was very frustrated looking at many available trucks at the company store and being jerked around. I went back to the beauty salon where the truck was just pulling up. It took 30 minutes to check it in and back out to me. The moving pads I rented were strewn in the back of the truck and there was a large amount of water in the cab and the door handle. No sanitation had occurred between the rentals. I just wanted to leave so i cleaned it up later. My message to UHAUL…I know your independent locations are important…but a beauty salon in the middle of a residential neighborhood? You have a large, beautiful company store a single mile away and this is where I indicated that I wanted to rent from and you changed it without me knowing. You can do better Uhaul.
Joseph SIt is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find this location. We passed it several times. We couldn't see the address number and only realized it was the location when we saw a U-Haul in the back driveway on the intersecting street.
