Stated hours are opening at 7:00am. I arrived at 7:05 to pick up the truck and am told by the Grits staff that "the U-Haul girl is not here yet." Please know my reservation was a 7:00 am pick up. 20-25 minutes later, the employee of the restaurant hands me a key and says "the U-Haul girl did everything on her phone.....whatever I then drove the truck 8.8 miles to my home where I had 5 friends and family members waiting on me to load the truck....which we did. I engaged the emergency brake as I was parked on a slight incline. When I went to leave and disengage the parking brake, it would not release. I was stranded half in the cul-du-sac and half on my driveway for close to an hour while no U-Haul assistance could be offered by a U-Haul rep. My moving help has already left to meet me at the destination. 5 people had to sit and wait for me while I was stranded. Finally through google and effort I was able to manually release the brake by physically pulling the cable under the truck, by crawling under the truck.....HOW WAS THIS VEHICLE ALLOWED TO BE RENTED IN SUCH CONDITION????? Then to make matters worse, I returned the truck at 5:30-5:32 pm Friday the 22nd. "The U-Haul girl is checking in another vehicle, just leave me the key and she will check it in and send you a receipt." OK fine. at 5:36 I get the receipt and was charge over $10.00 for 2 gallons of GAS? What? Is this how y'all make a few extra dollars? The tank was full. I have a photo to prove this. I would like a refund for my gas and I would like some accommodations made for the inconvenience caused by a poorly maintained truck. Please advise before I dispute the charge.
