We reserved a 20 foot truck one week prior to our pick-up date; we reserved pads to help protect the furniture. When we arrived at the U-Haul dealer in West Chester, PA, we were informed that we had been upgraded to a 26 foot truck at no extra charge(!). This truck was considerably larger than what we needed and would be more difficult to drive the 350 mile trip that we had planned. We had to find another dealer that had a 20 foot truck available. We had to drive to Delaware, losing about an hour and a half of time. No furniture pads were available at that location. My question is: What is the point of making a reservation if U-Haul can arbitrarily change the terms without notifying the customer ahead of time? It was not a pleasant way to start a 6 hour road trip. U-Haul management team, this customer would have been a lot more satisfied if the terms of the reservation had been honored.

The first van they gave me was dirty with chicken poop all over. They had another van of the same size parked on the lot, so I asked to change. The second van was also dirty with chicken poop and smelled quite bad. When i returned the van the guy told me "just leave me the keys, i will send you your receipt by email", but when i got home he had charged me a $25 cleaning fee. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! I will never rent again at this store

This location was very nice and accommodating. However, I made a reservation for a New Castle, DE location. Upon arrival, the location informed me that they did not have the equipment. Per U-Haul computer they moved my reservation to another city in which during my rental period, it would take at minimum 1 hour driving time. Per U-Haul representative I was forwarded both an email and phone message. Please note, I did not receive either. I was put on hold for numerous long wait times. One of the U-Haul reps insisted he sent updating information. I received neither. This was a grave inconvenience, they didn't use the preferred communication medium... very unprofessional business procedures and humiliating experience. My budgeted $20 experience tripled to $60 because I had to rent a truck instead of the reserved trailer to complete my move. I rent from this company frequently, however, I will file an official complaint with BBB. Warmly submitted, Lolita.

We were told over the phone when we made initial contact that they would hold a 17’ truck for us. I told the guy I was calling around looking for availability. He said no worries I have what you need here. He assured me that he had a few 15 footers as well as 17 footers and that the rates were the same. Once we arrived, literally 7 minutes later he said he was all sold out and didn’t know who I spoke with. He acted like the conversation never took place and just never took he blame for any false information. Moving on already frustrated he offered us a 10’ truck which was much smaller then what we measured our move for. Crunched for time, worried we wouldn’t have anything if we turned down this vehicle we accepted it. We were only moving a total of 25 miles. Round trip. We were immediately charged one rate which was the “quote”. On our way back to return the truck I received a notification that my bank account was atm debuted for another $35 from the same exact location. Once we arrived we asked the attendant what these charges were for and he said he had no idea what we were talking about. I showed him the charges via our banking app and he still refused to acknowledge any transactions. He told us because we went over our mileage we would be charged an additional $11. He said it would be deducted from the $35, he knew nothing about? Smh.....he went ahead and charged my card an additional 11 on top of the already charged amounts from earlier. This is theft. We are filing a dispute for the $35 as it should have never been charged. The customer service was horrible as well as the lack of knowledge. I hope no one has to experience this misconduct from ithese horrible people.

Customer Service. The guy was pretty rude. My reservation was at 11 AM for a day. He asked me what time I would return back I told him I will need it upto 6 30 PM. In reply he told me he will charge me for an extraday if I returned it after 6:30 PM and he went on saying even If I returned it late by a minute like 6:31 PM he will charge me for an extra day. I asked him the price 19.95$ is for a day and he says no its for hours. All this is because he had another reservation at 7:30 PM(he mentioned that). He could have just asked me if I could return before that instead he makes this rule of charging an extraday. He didnot even show me the truck just gave me the keys and says he assumes there are no scratches and damages. I had no problem while returning the truck. There was a different guy and he was good.

Owner of Sunrise Market was phenomenal. Uhaul changed my pickup location without notifying me. The owner at Sunrise not only allowed me to pick up a now unscheduled truck from his store, but he made sure I paid the same price as my previous reservation. Incredible customer service!
