The truck was DELAYED by one day because the previous client decided to keep it longer. There were no other 26' trucks within 100 miles. That set my move back one day; I had to reschedule my 4 helpers until the next day. The manager at J&L Service did his best to patiently coordinate between me and the prior client. Also, the utility dolly I had reserved wasn't available! We had to quickly buy one. For my next move I will look at other companies before UHaul. Very unreliable.
The computer system was down so I wasn't able to get my contract. The guy took my card info and my lisence and let me have the truck which was great but it was because he had never done or seen a written contract. I checked my account and was charged almost double what I was quoted at for the rental. My wife called and we discovered there was some issues with the way we were charged. We were forced to take a 26 ft truck when we wanted a 20 then charged 6 days rental when we only wanted it 5. So make sure you see your contract one way or another to avoid unexpected charges.
U-Haul main website was down or having errors which delayed pickup of trailer. Staff at J&L is excellent and handled it well.
When we broke down on the road and could not get through to UHaul customer service through the web site we called them and they were able to give us a phone number to try.we would like to visit in person with a customer service representative about our overall experience including the break down, inability to reach roadside assistance and extended time for road side assistance to get us help.
The place and people where great but I do not think that I would recommend U-haul to anybody ever again. After all of the running around that I had to do to find the truck I am not sure that the discount on the price was worth it.
Very small area to park the Uhaul units but the personnel did the maneuvering.
J&L service and troy nelson went above and beyond to help me get a truck for my move,there were issues with the corporate office, my initial request for a truck I needed failed,and troy stepped up,went out of his way to secure a truck for me,he is a stand up business man and would recommend him and his location to any one! thank you,Gary Lorenz
Very dissatisfied with main office. Booked a 15 foot with hand truck and furniture dolly. Got there and only had 10 foot and no hand truck. Local guy was great but online booking was worthless
I reserved a uhaul on May 3rd in Jamestown ND to be picked up May 28th here at the Jamestown location. I had a weird feeling and went to go in the store at ricks tv and uhaul to confirm my pickup. Rick had no idea what I was talking about and neither did the other location in Jamestown. I called the 1-888-go-uhaul number and Brenda answered. I asked what was going on and Brenda told me I have confirmation to pick up in Fargo at 5523 53rd Ave Fargo Nd. When I went to google that address it said it was permanently closed. I told my boyfriend and he immediately called back and they lady he talked to said that we don't have a pickup until Sunday in Fargo at 930 am at the veterans 5200 veterans Blvd, that we will be refunded 50 dollars into our account. My boyfriend asked how that could be when Brenda told me Saturday. They sent me the call log and I have it stating exactly what she told me. This is very wrong and frustrating. I picked uhaul for the convenience of picking it up in my city and not having to travel 1 1/2 hours on the day I was supposed to have already moved. In the meantime, Troy at J & L service in Jamestown ND bent over backwards to try and help me. He made multiple calls while I was in his office and he exhibited phenomenal customer service. He called me back the very next day saying a truck got dropped off unexpectedly today and if I came down to the store it could be mine. I felt like of all the people I talked to Troy was the only person who truly wanted to help me, when the fault didn't fall on him it fell on corporate. The stress of moving is already too much to handle, I am very upset with the way uhaul managed my situation. But I am so very impressed with the way Troy interacted with me, like I said he went above and beyond what I even expected out of him. Even though my experience with uhaul was very poor, Troy's customer service and caring manner definitely turned this very frustrating situation into a great interaction with a local store. Very well satisfied. Location had the trailer already hooked up to the truck and tested. Owner also parked trailer back in the lot after we returned so that we would not have to back it up. Terrific customer service.
Their hours said they were open at 7:00 AM. So I went out of my way to be there when they opened. I waited until 7:15 and still no one there. Not a big deal but irritating.
There cigarette butts in ashtray and the truck was dirty. Also retrain the manager Troy on how the 24 hrs rental works because he insist on charging me for two days, after I explain to him that it was a 24 hrs rental and the truck could be picked up 5pm Friday and returned 5pm Sat. 1day
The trailer leaked like a sieve. Everything that was not in a plastic box was wet. This trailer was too old and rusty and should not be in service. All boxes brought into the drop off location had to be cleaned, as the wetness made them very dirty.
I had no problems with the actual Uhaul location or the personnel at the pick-up location. I have a major problem with the UHaul dispatch and booking online. I was told that my truck and equipment was not available on Saturday April 30th as scheduled and I would have to pick-up the truck on Sunday May 1st. This caused major logistical problems for me with scheduling my moving help/labor. When I arrived on Sunday May 1st at the pickup location in Jamestown the location owner said that he had not 1 but 2 trucks available on Saturday that would have been available. This infuriated me after re-scheduling all of my labor for Sunday and on top of that did not have the appliance dolly that I had reserved online. I was very disappointed with your online reservations and dispatch center and will be recommending to my friends/work associates to go to your competitors for my/their moving needs in the future. I am also upset that at no time was I offered any type of discount/refund for my troubles and the issues associated with your breach of our original contract and rental dates.
The area is very small. Not nearly enough room for after hours drop off.
I was promised a U-haul in Bismarck with a pick up of 2pm on Sunday. Someone called from Fargo and said the guy in Bismarck can't get the u hauls back so lady on phone found one in Jamestown so I went into Jamestown to get one. She sent me south of H281 to a hotel with of course u haul signs but has not carried u hauls for three years. So I got back on the phone with Fargo and she found on in North Jamestown. I spent an hour trying to find the place and him getting his computer to work I pulled it from Jamestown to Bismarck and the lights kept going on and off. I called and they said keep going. When we got back to Fargo that night I parked and locked the u haul to find it had leaked inside over the driver side duals. my original reservation was 85643127 wow
my first encounter was a place in Mandan which said they had a trailer mom and pop garage for $94 dollars. Guess it was a place you rent their garage and you can work on your car using their space. I never did find it or they would not answer when I called to ask the location as one of the people working on their car took the reservation.
Make sure there's a truck on location where I first ordered it from. When I get to the second location somebody had taken the truck I was supposed to use. When I got into the vehicle there were crumbs and candy all over the floor.
