What is the rated weight load for this box? Is it stamped on the bottom?

–Stephen 2/12/2014 7:30:16 AM

How many cell kits fit into one dish barrel?

–Jim 12/29/2013 3:40:19 PM

What is the best way to pack large China serving platters. They are very heavy 12"x8"

–Paulett 1/23/2014 5:02:29 PM

The Dish Barrel is a double wall box and can certainly handle the load, but your back may not. If you decide to go this route, make sure to use a hand truck. For packing material, U-Haul packing paper and Enviro-Bubble is what we recommend.

–Stephen 1/27/2014 7:48:51 AM

When using the dish barrel do you stack the dishes one on top of each other or do you stack them on end? Thanks for any help you can give me.

–Barb 8/25/2014 10:58:42 AM

"We recommend using the Cell Kit with this box. When using the cell kit the cell sizes can be modified by removing partitions so you could stack dishes on top of each other or on end. You should also take a look the Dishsaver Box with the Dish Saver Kit, in which case dishes are packed on end."

–Ronald 8/25/2014 3:45:13 PM

what is the weight load information on the dish boxes. need info for stacking & storage. how much weight may be safely stacked on top of a packed box?

–connie 9/16/2014 7:58:59 AM

"The ECT is 51 (double-wall) and it can hold up to 120 lbs. It is too difficult to say how much weight can be stacked without knowing stacking duration and environmental factors like humidity."

–Ronald 9/18/2014 10:22:19 AM

I just picked up a Dish Barrel Box(clearly labeled Dish Barrel), and the weight rating on the box is less than 60lbs. The walls are as thick as a standard box, which concerns me. Dish Packs from a moving company are rated to 300lbs and cost about $6. Am I missing something? Are more than one Dish Barrel available?

–Rick 11/30/2014 8:26:29 PM

This box is designed double-walled for extra protection while our standard boxes are not doubled walled. The gross weight limit of this box is 120 lbs.

–Ronald 12/1/2014 8:52:04 AM

Are the quoted dimensions the inside measurements?

–Bob 1/12/2015 1:18:29 PM

Inside. Yes.

–Michael 2/15/2015 1:31:14 PM

With the Cell Kit installed, the Dish barrel Box will hold up to 8 place settings. Thank you.

–Joseph 2/19/2015 12:01:44 PM

Box dimension provided is with lid close? I wanted to travel with them on airplane and most airline max dimension allowed is 62 in. Do you know if they will accept it as is or how can i cut it down if I want to?

–amna 2/25/2015 4:54:14 PM

Yes, the dimensions provided are with all flaps closed.

You will have to check the guidelines of your airline for specific dimension requirements and whether or not they will accept this box for travel.

If you find you will need a different size box, you can use our "Search by size" feature at the top of the Boxes Homepage. Thank you.

–Joseph 3/2/2015 5:01:06 PM

How do I fold flaps on the box without tearing the box up?

–Nicole 5/7/2015 5:14:07 PM

Our boxes have what is called a flap-lock feature on the top flaps.

You assemble the box by first folding the flap-locked flaps down, then flipping the box over, sealing the bottom and flipping it back over.

At this point, the flaps will lay tightly around the top of the box for it to be easier to load. When you're ready to seal the top flaps, you simply cut the flap-locks, fold them up and tape them.

–Joseph 5/8/2015 4:53:01 PM

How much is 18x18x28

–Delia 6/18/2015 8:06:00 PM

Delia, this box is 18" x 18" x 28" which equates to 5.2 cubic feet.

I hope that answered your question!

–Joseph 6/29/2015 9:26:30 AM

Do you sell any dish/glass packs that are shorter than this dish barrel? This is a pretty deep box, and packing it with my heavier stoneware dishes/mugs will make it way too heavy. I was hoping you had something that's more like a "cube" (example, 18L X 18W and around 16"-18" high). Do you have anything like this?

–Beth R. 8/2/2015 11:52:33 AM

Hey Beth, we don't carry any dish or glass packs that are perfectly square, but we do carry the Dish Saver Kit and the Glass Pack Kit, both of which are not quite as deep as the Dish Barrel Box.

–Joseph 9/1/2015 9:11:58 AM

I have an 8 place setting of China which includes platters and other serving pieces. Can all of this fit into one dish pack barrel?

–Chris 12/3/2015 7:23:47 AM

Yes, as long as the largest platter is less than 18" x 18".

–Joseph 12/4/2015 11:40:02 AM

Do the dish an glass saver boxes have the same double wall protection as the dish barrels? Are my dishes just as safe?

–Peg 4/12/2016 7:38:27 PM

The box that comes with the Dish Saver and Glass Pack Kits is not double walled.

–Joseph 4/18/2016 1:02:05 PM

Does this come with the cell inserts?

–Brandon 8/6/2016 4:51:20 PM

Hi Brandon, the Cell Kit is sold separately. Thanks for asking!

–SAVANNAH 8/9/2016 9:11:12 AM

Would this work for packing canning jars? Thanks!

–Lyndsay 11/14/2016 5:44:03 AM

Hi Lyndsay. The answer depends on how large your canning jars are. The cell kit that goes inside the Dish Barrel Box has three levels. The cells in the two top levels measure 4.25" x 4.25" x 6.5" deep. The cells in the bottom level measure 3.25" x 3.25" by 12" deep. The width can be increased by removing partitions. Hopefully this helps give a better idea if your jars will fit!
