Microbes naturally convert oil and other petroleum products into harmless carbon dioxide and water. The microbes are non-toxic and non pathogenetic. The absorbent is non-leaching, once it absorbs a spill it will not release it back into the environment.

Dave, the Oil Eating Microbe Absorbent works best on a fresh oil spill, however it will help a little bit with old stains. It's primary purpose is cleaning up oil spills.
