Unveiling Event
On April 14, 2007, U-Haul Company of Southern Georgia and the U-Haul Media and Public Relations Department teamed up with Providence Canyon State Park during their Spring Wildflower Walk to unveil the latest SuperGraphic, representing the state of Georgia. Marketing Company President (MCP) Tony Fretwell, UHC of Southern Georgia (Co.779), spoke to an excited crowd before the veil was drawn and the Providence Canyon, better known as Georgia's "Little Grand Canyon," SuperGraphic was officially revealed to the public.
Fretwell presented the following special guests with plaques: Joy Joyner, park manager, Providence Canyon State Park; Kim Hatcher, public affairs coordinator, Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites; Harris Hatcher, freelance photographer and Ronnie Eakins, Regional III Manager, Department of Natural Resources. Governor Sonny Perdue who was unable to attend the unveiling also will be receiving a plaque, symbolizing our pride in being a corporate citizen of Georgia.
U-Haul chose Providence Canyon State Park to represent Georgia because this beautiful canyon is an amazing network of gorges and cliffs in southwest Georgia that wasn't created by the actions of a river or a stream, as other canyons were; this remarkable natural wonder came into being because preexisting soft soils and loose sediments were molded and shaped by misguided farming practices.
