U-Haul Opens Repair Shop, Regional Offices and Store in Halifax
Company’s Atlantic Canada president expects to soon employ 60 Team Members
HALIFAX, N.S. (Dec. 26, 2019) — U-Haul® is now operating from a new repair shop at the site of a former office building at 350 Horseshoe Lake Drive.
Halifax Repair is a maintenance hub where regional U-Haul equipment is serviced. The property is also the new home to regional U-Haul marketing company offices as well as U-Haul Moving & Storage of Halifax – a full-service company store.
The shop is tasked with assembling and maintaining engines, transmissions, rear axles and more. A 102,442-square-foot former office complex sits on the 11.04-acre parcel. U-Haul acquired the property in June 2019 and has been offering truck and trailer sharing and moving supplies out of a temporary showroom. The repair shop opened in September.
U-Haul Company of Atlantic Canada president Tracey Higgs expects to employ about 60 Team Members once the facility is fully operational. U-Haul will look to hire locally to promote job growth within the Halifax community.
“This building was constructed in 2007. It has really good bones,” Higgs said. “Many businesses have come and gone in this space. We intend to be a business anchor and invest in Halifax for years to come.”

Acquisition of the property was driven by U-Haul Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. The adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-building materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
