U-Haul Reuses Building for New Repair Shop and Storage Facility in Calgary
CALGARY, Alta. (March 17, 2025) — U-Haul® has used its environmentally friendly Adaptive Reuse program to offer its newest repair shop and full-service retail, moving and self-storage facility at 824 41 Ave. NE, site of the former head offices for the Forzani Group® Ltd.
The property is located directly southwest of Calgary International Airport at the crossroads of Deerfoot Trail and McKnight Boulevard.
The 9.4-acre property is home to Calgary Repair, a shop where regional U-Haul fleet equipment will receive routine maintenance and repair work. The 132,087-square-foot lot also hosts U-Haul Moving & Storage of Greenview, a two-story retail, moving and self-storage facility that is now serving the public.

Acquisition of the former office space was driven by U-Haul Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-building materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.

U-Haul of Greenview is currently offering truck and trailer rentals and moving supplies from a spacious retail showroom.
The center will soon offer rentable self-storage lockers, with the initial phase of indoor climate-controlled storage scheduled to be finished this spring. When renovations are done, customers will have access to 1,100 storage lockers for rent: 1,065 indoor climate-controlled and 35 drive-up lockers.
In the near future, U-Haul of Greenview will offer U-Box® portable moving and storage containers; drive-in load/unload areas for protection from the weather; professional hitch installation; towing accessories; green programs like Take A Box, Leave A Box; and more.
By reusing a 132,000-square-foot existing building rather than constructing a ground-up build, U-Haul prevents the use of approximately 1,032 tons of metal manufacturing and transportation (the amount of steel used to make 1,040 passenger cars); avoids 6,609 tons of new concrete pours (enough to create 133 miles of concrete blocks); keeps 11,799 tons of building and demolition debris out of landfills (avoiding 454 dump trucks traveling 9,530 miles); and stops 6,856,290 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions from entering the atmosphere (the carbon emissions of 527 large SUVs or pickup trucks for one year).
