1) Allow me to pick up my rental at my preferred place. Instead you sent me to a place 1 1/2 hours away. Then you changed the location but nobody notified us. The text you sent listed the 3rd location but when I logged into my account it listed the original location. When I called to confirm I got conflicting information. 2) Address the reps that kept hanging up on us when we called to ask about the rental. 3) Address the manager at the pickup location in Birmingham, AL. Rudest person I ever met. I was told we would receive an extra 150 miles on the rental. When I informed her of this, she called me a liar because she didn't see it. The rep helping me found the note on the 2nd page. 4) Again, the rude manager. When I asked if I could get a 10' truck like I wanted, she said (in an ugly tone) â€œYou'll get whatever is on your reservation!â€ I reserved a 10' truck but UHaul changed it to a 15' truck; not me. 5) Rent safe equipment. After I arrived at my location I noticed the rear tires were completely bald. UHaul better be glad I didn't have a blow out and cause a wreck. I was so focused on inspecting damage in the pre trip notification I didn't think about the tires. This was the worse rental experience I ever had.Russell M.
I've been doing business with U-Haul for about 40 years with some problems from time to time, but also had many great experiences with some locations. My experience with the Uptown Birmingham location has been horrific! This location is chaotic and needs management. They made many promises to me over this last week that they did not follow through on. I made a reservation 6 days in advance to access my belongings that were stored in u-boxes. For 4 days I was living in an empty house waiting on U-Haul to follow through on their promise to get me access to my you boxes. The worst part is that for three of those four days I was hanging out at the house all day based on a promise that they were delivering the boxes on that day and they never showed. 3 wasted days of my life I'll never get back. I made many phone calls to them and spent several hours on hold trying to talk with someone for a status update. not to mention the gas I wasted making two trips to this location for nothing. Several times I requested call backs but never received one. The icing on the cake is that they issued a $50 refund to me, the problem is the credit card number they refunded it to doesn't belong to me! When we went to pick up our UHAUL we discovered it was not ready. The previous renter extended their time. I wish we would have received a phone call before letting us know, but the lady who worked with us was very polite and friendly and helped us get another UHAUL.Aimee G.

My experience today was extremely unpleasant!!! I will not recommend or use Uhaul again. I was lied to, put in an unsafe vehicle, kept on hold for over 20 minutes and overcharged when returning the vehicle after I precisely explained the issue with gas gage and showed photos and receipts documenting my ordeal of a day driving one way from Atlanta to Birmingham. I am requesting a supervisor from your Corporate Office to contact me immediately. Also, inorder to improve your service for the next customer: - please do not give them a 15 foot gas guzzling truck when the requested a 10 foot for an out of state trip -please do not give them a truck with barely any gas in it and with a check engine light clearly showing on the dashboard - please do not provide a truck with the check tire icon displaying - please do not assign a truck where you cannot adjust the rear view mirrors or seats to match your height. (I am 5'5 and could barely see out of either mirror) - please do not say a 10 foot truck is unavailable and then assign the truck to another client that booked after me. - please do not keep a customer on hold for 20 plus minutes - please do not lie to the customer and say their concerns need to be addressed at their final destination Uhaul facility when they say otherwise - please do not overcharge customers for their trip after you have agreed to credit the overage the are being charged in the 1st place. I had to pick up two pieces of equipment from different locations. The first location is at 800 26th ST N. It seemed as though they may have been understaffed because customers were waiting for a while to get checked out. They also seemed to be running out of equipment because another customer and myself were waiting for only one piece of equipment that was available. The other location was across town for auto transport at a convenience store. It stated in an email to arrive 15 minutes prior and someone would hook up the equipment and/or make sure everything was good to go before I left. Most importantly I parked my car in the designated area as I was directed and found out the next day it had quite a few scratches on the driver's side. This really upset me. After returning boxes I was billed twice and the reps are so unprofessional nobody knows what is going on my rating is a 0 train rep to do better and not hanging up on customers with legitimate complaintskeith W.
I accidentally chose the wrong drop off location online and was unable to change it on the website. The woman at the location I stopped at informed me that she could not help me or take the equipment without a substantial penalty fee being assessed. I was then on hold for almost half an hour trying to contact customer service to help me. I never did get through, hung up, and found directions to the location that was apparently chosen for the dropoff. Again, the website was grossly inadequate at helping me to choose or change the drop off location and caused considerable confusion and inconvenience when I went to what I thought was the correct location (but was not). I will NEVER recommend Uhaul rental to another soul as long as live due to the problems I encountered with the website. The website is NOT user friendly at all.Andrew P.

Wish I could rate it terrible. Have everyone at facility take a lesson in customer service, from owner/manager to staff. I reserved a 10 ft truck to be picked up @ a specific date and time. When I arrived was told I had made a mistake, they don't do 1 way rentals for 10 ft trucks. Showed by reservations and confirmation and was told that should not have been done. Was on phone with customer service for more than 90 minutes passed back and forth by everyone finally got one customer service rep who seem to understand. Waited and someone brought truck back in 2 1/2 hours after my schedule pickup time. Asked if truck had been checked for service and was looked at like I was crazy. Rep asked previous driver did he have any problems an he said no and I was told truck was ok. Would like for someone in senior management to call me asap, based on passed experience not expecting a call. Finally, price quoted to be by CS rep was not reflected in my invoice. The first comment was regarding this location. This comment is regarding the first location. I arrived early arms was told that they didn't have my truck s and that I must be at the wrong location. I was told to go to another location. I went to two other locations only to learn that the first location was the right location. I was told that the only truck avaiable was a 26 foot truck, but later learned that it was in fact a 20 foot truck. I orginally wanted to rent a 15 foot truck arms was suppose to be charged for a 15 foot truck, but instead was charged for a 20 foot truck and I was 40 minutes late meeting my movers and waisted a quarter tank of gas on a wild goose chase looking for my uhaul truck.MARCIAELENA G.

Try to charge you extra for anything. Don't supply things that were ordered. Acted like they couldn't rent a truck out when they had 4, had no problem reserving one online and walked right back in. Was mad I was 15 minutes late and still had 3 trucks left. Trying to charge me for storage when I moved out of my unit 1 day after payment was due and did notify them of my intention of moving out and rented the truck from them but won't cancel my unit so they can try and get more money out of me. The storage part of the store closed early one night and was locked when I brought a full load ready to unload at my storage unit. I had checked the hours online, as well as called the location to confirm the hours, before I went to load up my trailer to bring to the storage unit. The employee I talked to on the phone informed me that it closed at 7, which matched what it said online. When I got the storage unit around 6:40 the outside doors were locked. I called the store and talked to the same employee, and she told me that it was closed and that she never said it was open til 7 and that I would have to wait until 9am the next day. I begged and tried to plead my case on the phone for them to just come open it for a few minutes so that we could unload our stuff. They refused and argued back. Terrible customer service. They then locked the doors to the store and said it was closed too so that we could not talk to them in person. It would have maybe taken 10 minutes tops for us to get everything unloaded and into our unit. Instead, because of that employee, I had to bring all the stuff back to where I had gotten it and unload it and wait til the next day to do it all over again. Pretty ridiculous, especially after I had called to confirm the times just to make sure nothing like that would happen. Was told 7pm again. Showed up with a full trailer of things to put into storage around 6:40 pm and the door to the storage entrance was locked. Called the front office and they told us they close at 6:30 and they said that they never told us they close at 7. That was only the beginning of the rude conversation. (I know the workers were just trying to skip out of work early.) They also then locked the doors to the main area so that we couldn’t talk to them in person. Because they wouldn’t allow us the couple minutes to unload all of our stuff and put it into our storage unit, we had to bring it all back to where we got it from and unload it again. Will have to do it all over again at another time because of the employees. Because of this, I can never recommend this location to anyone.John C. | First Impressions
